Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - South American Saturday - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 200 SBD! Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of South America.

The best sunsets in Venezuela can be seen in the bay of Juan Griego, which is on Margarita Island. This is a town dedicated to fishing, that's why there will always be boats on its banks; The colors that gives us the sunsets of this place are wonderful and charming for everyone. It is a very relaxing place for anyone who visits it.

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.
Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

For one heart-stopping moment, this giant Simba was 7 feet away, had his eyes fixed upon me, and was walking right toward me in my open-sided safari vehicle. My pulse went through the roof, but at the last possible second, he turned aside and walked around our vehicle.

The Glyder Fawr is one of the amazing mountains in the Snowdonia, Wales, UK. There is a path to go up in this image. Climbing was ok, the walking back was a challenge because our feet were very shaky! The view from the top of the mountain was a breathtaking experience! There are two paths - challenging and moderate. Guess what - we took the challenging because it was the shortest up. What a mistake - always go for the longest because they are the easiest! Unless you are physically fit!

Pacific Coast Sunset. The views from Panoramic Drive and Pan Toll Road are absolutely stunning. I took this photo a year ago from a hilltop above Pan Toll Road in the Mt. Tamalpais area north of San Francisco. After climbing to the top, I spent more than an hour watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, casting it's surreal light on the grass covered hills below me.

I'm keeping my run of Costa Rican photos going for South American Saturday. I went there in May 2014 to celebrate a friend's birthday but I only recently rediscovered some photos from the trip. We stayed at Villas Hermosas, a small villa on the west coast in Puntarenas. The hosts were beyond incredible and made the weekend even better. This photo was taken during an ATV ride through the jungle to a secluded beach where we had an incredible lunch at a local restaurant. Before heading down to the beach, we had this incredible view on a bluff. And not surprisingly from the clouds in the photo, there was also a downpour of rain briefly that felt wonderful in the hot, humid weather.
From my photo here, you see Sol de Mañana(Morning Sun), a geothermal field in south-western Bolivia, located at 4850 m. It was freezing cold in the early morning when our jeep stopped at this place. While I was amazed by this surreal scene: these huge holes with boiling mud were emitting pressurized steam up to 50 meters high.
What an amazing phenomenon! Beautiful photo!

Sunrise at Salar de Uyuni
With an area encompassing over 10.000 square kilometres, Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat. When I visited Bolivia, seeing this amazing landscape was high on my list, and so I booked a 4-day jeep tour. I had an incredible time!

Amazing photo as always! I like how you added a scale to it by shooting from distance. I did the same tour, but in a wetter season, so the little islet was submerged. =) Which month did you visit it?
I went in late September. I saw some photos from wet season and it looks quite different, if I can make it there during wet season, I will visit Salar de Uyuni again on my next trip to Latin America!

Salta Area - Argentina
My one and only trip to Argentina was quite an experience. Great people and a landscape that made my jaws drop deep. First time I had seen cactus, don't the make for some great scenery!
This reminds me of Arizona, very similar landscape. Thank you so much for your entry.
Sunrise in Punta Gallinas, Colombia. This is in La Guajira department in the northeast of the country. La Guajira is a magical place and is my favorite region in Colombia. You can't really visit without a guide as there are no roads or public transportation once you get north of Cabo de la Vela. Our guide would occasionally stop someone to ask for directions and the response would be along the lines of, "Cross the dry river bed then turn left once you get to the crooked tree."
What a wonderful sunrise. The birds are adding the image even more beauty.
Hi everybody! The ruins of the ancient city of Ingapirca are located high in the Andes next to the city of Canar. It was built 6 centuries ago by the Incas and now has become a must see place if you travel in the high mountains of Ecuador. Highly recommended!

I was going to visit Canar, on the Pan-American route from Quito to Cuenca, when I was told about Ingapirca. Did not know about it either.

The beautiful valleys of the Andes mountain range, in the Andean region of Venezuela. They give a unique aspect in this tropical zone, the photograph was taken in the sector "el vallecito" at about 1650 meters above sea level, in the background you can see the mountain range of "la culata", with an approximate height of more than 3000 meters above sea level.

Lago La Paloma
Located approximately 40 kilometers south of Coyhaique, Chile, this lakes sits in the middle of a succession of three lakes connected by short drains. Steep mountain cliffs rise straight out of the water, and a brisk wind and choppy water conditions will frequently greet you at the shoreline.

Uiiii lala the photos are on fire this week! Here's my simple enter.
Mount Fitz Roy, 3,405 m of pure granite. Among the most technically challenging mountains for mountaineers on Earth and one of the most beautiful scenaries for me. I went to El Chaltén in 2017 where I spent 5 days just siting there for hours looking at this mountains.
I can see why you spent such a long time looking at them. They are simply wonderful!
And the coolest thing is that it's so rare to see them uncovered, without clouds. Fitz Roy, the highest one, was once called Chaltén, which means "smoking mountain". The original people from those lands though it was a volcano.
