RE: Prague/Czech Republic - Saturday photo challenge - share your personal pictures from your visit to the Czech Republic!
Former barracks, New Town, Prague
Stone houses stood here from the 11th century. But I'll skip. In the 17th century a Capuchin monastery was built here. Emperor Joseph II. abolished the monastery and made a barracks from the building.
In the middle of the 19th century, almost the entire building was demolished and lined with a neo-Gothic building. It remained in this form until 1993.
Then the barracks were sold to a private investor who tore them down. Newly, only the facade you see in the photo was built. Behind the front is a labyrinth of glass and concrete.
