Thank you for the description of pagoda, for many of us, who do not know much about Korean history we probably will not pay much attention to the form but when you mentioned that and then looking back this is really something that we do not often see in your previous post-rectangular shape, but on other hand the question is may be they wanted to use four lions on each corner that is why the shape is rectangular. I love lions in general, they represent power like you say but these figures they look not so furious but still majestic, especially once we see the features of face and expression.
