Weekend in Unity, Maine; and Haunted Forest
My mother, my brother Josh, and I spent the weekend in the country with my aunt and uncle in the lovely town of Unity. It is a beautiful area, and we had a wonderful time painting, talking, laughing and eating. My aunt showed me some beautiful watercolors she had made in France and my uncle and I shared music playlists.
I stayed in this small cottage on their property. (Posting from phone and all photos unfiltered so not sure of quality)
There is a large Amish community in the area and they helped construct this small greenhouse/barn/shed.
Friday night we had the first of many delicious meals and talked and talked until the sun went down; then we sat around and watched a movie my brother Josh had brought; “Wonder Woman” ; while a thunderstorm hit us.
Saturday my aunt gave us a little tour of Unity to see how things had changed. We went to the local craft fair and farmers market, a local cafe where a harpist was playing, then to a nearby lake.
We also stopped briefly at this farm stand. I did not take pictures of the town due to the Amish hanging out; I remember some do not like having their picture taken. The lake was serene.
More good food that night, and they watched a mystery while I drew; and of course; PIE!
For breakfast on Sunday my aunt made delicious pancakes with blueberries my uncle picked that morning; then she and my mother took to canning while I walked around with my brother and dabbled in water colors.
Lunch was sandwiches and more pie, then we waved a sad goodbye.
The ride back to Damariscotta to drop off my brother was oddly interesting. My mother wanted to stop off at the IGA in Randolph; which just happened to be next to one of the most haunted forests in the world according to Travel+Leisure magazine.

I quite literally felt a chill go up my spine and heard crunching footsteps behind me.

After we dropped off Josh we headed back to Portland.
The sky was eerie that night; I wonder if we had passed through another dimension.
Wow there are actual listings of haunted forests in the world! That's amazing! And this was no 2??? Spooky!

Thank you; that was my intention”. I think it is number 2 on one list; it is on several haunted forest lists I just shared a couple. The first, in Travel and Leisure is the biggest magazine I saw listed. Kind of creepy that a few articles mentioned feeing a chill up ones spine and hearing footsteps and that is what I experienced. I also felt this strange hypnotic power that was drawing me in. I think I am done taking photos for this trip, lol!
