ULOG 10: Talk With Terry | What Is Rewarded On Steemit

The Headless YOU Is Bigger than content.

This is the sentence that was left by Terry or @surpassinggoogle last night during the talk show at steemgigs discord group last night.

This was my second time to attend the talk show and listen to Terry's inspiring and motivational talk about Steemit.

Every Saturday at 2400 (GMT+8) Terry is inspiring Steemians over the discord group of steemgigs. And we are welcoming everyone to join and learn more about Steemit and #ulog.

Last night Terry discussed a lot of things about Steemit and those content in trending page. Don't be dismay, there are a lot reason why those one liner posts are earning better than your over 5-read posts.

What Is Rewarded On Steemit

1.) A giant pay out on a post maybe because of what happpens behind the scene.

Sometimes we see one liner posts that earn hundreds to thousands upvotes value. And we are being dismayed of that because our more than 5-minute read posts were just earning cents. I know the feeling, I am what of you.

But check the names of those Steemians, check their other posts. We may think that a Zappl posts can be done for just 30 seconds but those people spent days and nights to improve this platform. Either through systems development or community enhancement and etc.

There are a lot of things going on behind the scene, and that is the reason why we are still here, enjoying the benefit of being a Steemians.

2.) There are many reasons why trending posts is there beyond content.

There are photos, photos speak a thousand words they say. One picture earned hundreds to thousands upvotes, while your thousand-word post has just received 20 upvotes and buried down by the trending posts. You become invisible despite the beauty of your content.

But there are a lot of reasons why our posts cannot be seen. One is proper tagging. Are the tags appropriate with your posts.

Sometimes tags are being abused. You see someone use some blah-blah tags and upon checking, most of them earned a alot so you used that as well. That is not how it works, tags are present to reach our target audience, but those audience cannot be fooled.

Posting under the tag of cups while the post is about bowl would't work of course. If I am to check the tags of cups, I want to see cups, not bowls, so I will not upvote that.

Another one is timeliness. Yes, timeliness. An example is the world cup. And most people are checking out something about the world cup. Maybe the standing of each team or the result of the last game. Almost everyone will upvote those kind of theme and a bigger chance to be on top of the trending page.

3.) A post may trend because of different reasons.

As mentioned above, there a lot of reasons for a post to trend. Some examples were shared in number 2. And there are more other reasons.

One example is a Steemian whos is just a week old in the platform but is now everyday present on trending page.

One example may be is that, people in Steemit know him/her already outside Steemit and has the potential to contribute to the Steemit world.

Imagine Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp join to Steemit. Come to think of that. Not only them will go trending but Steemit as well. We will become mainstream. And that means growth to the platform.

But don't worry, as Terry always say, we are our own celebrity and we can be celebrity in Steemit. We just just need to do our homework. To be involved.

4.) Focus not on others and feel bad, but be a whale inside.

You are a whale to me.

That's Terry's quote. For him everyone in Steemit is a WHALE. That everyone has something to offer to the Steem world. As long as one has a pure heart and dedicated will. You are a Whale. Because that is the behavior of whales. They are dedicated to this platform, most of them for sure. They are already helping the platform to grow and doing some shakehands behind the scene.

We can be whale through positive posts and community involvement.

5.) There is timeliness to a value of a post.

Timeliness, this was mentioned already in number 2. But just to add. There are more Steemians that just went off-board because of the bearish moment of Steem. Don't be dismayed of the red bloody candle sticks. Did you ever know that some of the whales were already here when Steem is just worth of 0.07$ per piece, doing the same things we do today. It's the dedication and belief that made them stay from 0.07$ to 10$ until today.

Our time will come too. But it doesn't come as wish, we have to work for it.

6.) There will be changes and movements that will change the rewards and trendings.

Yes, there will changes and it is coming soon. Smart Media Token is one and the communities all over the world of Steemit. And as a "whale" by heart, I will be here until that changes comes.

The best thing about Steemit is, it has proven that nationalities and countries are just broken land. Despite the different communities all over the world of Steemit, most of them are just the same group of Steemians who from different part of this world and is just coming together to enhance more about the Steem world. They come in peace and are working together to create a better world for everyone where colors are just colors that add beauty to the rainbow.

Before my coffee gets cold, let me round this up.
