Ulog 5: Change

Hello Steemians – how are you all today?

Well, it took last night’s “Steem-Out” to make me admit to myself how addicted I already am to this platform. Actually, scratch that, it’s not the platform I’m addicted to- it is you guys! Reading your posts, getting to know you all, chatting over on Discord and generally expanding my horizons through the medium of Steem all have me powerfully within their grip. I’m hooked. I’m here for the long-haul.

I’m writing today’s #ulog during my lunch break – I missed posting one yesterday because, ironically, life got in the way (it was super hot and sunny, so we went for a wild swim in the river up on the moors- and came home via a nice cold pint of Peroni). By the time I came home, the site was down. So I’m grabbing a few minutes now to catch up with you all.

What I wanted to talk to you about is change. Is it a word that makes you shudder? It is for many people I think.

2018 has been a year of change for me already. I lost 2 very dear members of my direct family, one after the other. I had the all-clear on a health problem I have had for many years, meaning I don’t have to go back on the medication which I hated so much. My hair- which I have dyed bright red for many years has finally returned to its natural state. My other half’s debut book was published. I was introduced to Steemit. Some changes big, some changes small. All changes having a massive impact on my day-to-day life (yes- even the hair colour!)

So why am I going on about this today? Well, there are certain things in my life that I’m not happy with. I currently work 9-5, full time. I’d like some more work-life balance. I don’t necessarily want time off… I want time to use differently. Time to work, to build, to draw, to write, to explore, to grow.

Previous to this year, this need has always felt out of my hands- something that either would or would not happen to me. Now, having endured so much change in such a short period of time, I realise, finally, that it needs to happen because of me.

If you choose to initiate the changes, surely there’s no need to be afraid anymore – because you’re in the driving seat - and change is being used as a force for good.

So, my friends, as the weather here finally breaks and the rain pelts down outside my office window, I’m ready for the change. I’m ready to be the change. Watch out world- it’s an exciting and dangerous mood to be in!

What will you change today?
Catch you later, Eveningart x

Snap - we did it again! Great minds think alike. On the whole I think (most) change is a good thing - it keeps things fresh and new and moving forward xxx

I think you can find the good in all change, even if the change itself was fairly pants to begin with...

Change... scary for some and a need for others...
Change can be both at the same time, too!

You're right- it can be both all at once. It is for my friend at work at the moment. She has had the rug pulled out from under her feet - but now the initial shock has passed, I think she's enjoying the feeling of flying!

Same here, i got addicted to every post i read here. Since i joined steemit , i seldom checked facebook. hahaha. Steemit has a lot of interesting posts from different people. And being paid for what you post is a plus.

I seem to have completely abandoned all other social media too (oopsy!) Thanks for stopping by x

yeah.... there are moments i can't get out of here = lots of fun and sooo much to see, read, share and learn... x (((o)))

Haha - I know exactly what you mean. I had to turn the internet off on my mobile the other night to make sure I went to sleep rather than reading more posts! E x

heyyyyyyyyyyyyy! LOL @calumam - i spotted our first blog for DITO next week ;)

hehehehehehe do i win something?? LOL

@eveningart -our theme for DITO next week is Change! and we are supposed to be looking throughout the Steemiverse for anything that will coincide with that theme (after we also write our own posts on the topic) so. woo hooooooooooo found one ;)

and - yes change. i hate it. LOL i'm a creature of habit. and at the same time - i love doing new things.

so try and figure that one out ;)

Hahaha... Good find but no prizes!

Brilliant post @eveningart! I'm looking forward to speaking about this one on Monday. Your quote towards the bottom of the post highlights a very important part of Change :)

Hahaha! They'll think we plotted this between us ;) I look forward to your own 'change' post!

I hate it too, when it's thrust upon us like the first 6 months of this year have done to me... but I'm like you, love trying new things... so I'm making a pact with myself to take control and do more of that for this next 6 months. Isn't that a Terry Pratchett curse: "may you live in interesting times." E x

hehehehe but we did NOT plan it! so... @calumam... i'm gonna need a prize.

hehehehehehe

and i agree - i'm trying new things. i'm putting myself in uncomfortable-ish situations hehehehe (ok i don't like FULL ON DISCOMFORT) but.... i do see the need to get a little antsy and grow ;)

27 more days until I find out if I made the sndbox team and i am thrilled and terrified at the thought of it!!!

I hope you win something exciting!!
Growing is good. We like that... but Full On Discomfort can have the opposite effect I think- so best avoided!

What's sndbox? Sounds exciting... am off to investigate. And whatever it is- good luck!!!

it's called an idea incubator! lots of creatives getting together and working together for 5 months. my friend told me about it - and now we're tryng to get in together hehehe
just found out another friend applied too! nervous and excited and terrified and sick and thrilled and jittery .... hmmmm sounds like i'm going back to elementary school after all LOL

That sounds amazing- really challenging in all the very best ways! I've got everything crossed for you that you get in - that would be amazing to follow your story while you're there!

yea - those ulogs would be intense heheh

Me too, can't pass a day without steeming, but its more on reading post, upvote and re steeming, that almost make me forget my own post..hahaha.

Hehe- I completely know what you mean. Commenting all over the place and then I'm like... oops... so what am I going to post about?!?!
Thanks for reading!
