The Accommodation

The unit where we are staying at here in Port Lincoln is a cute, cosy granny flat. It has a one small bedroom, and a combined kitchen and living room. There is also a patio or veranda, but there isn't a nice view from the veranda, so we'd rather stay inside the unit. The bed is comfortable - this is very important when we go away. We love a nice, comfortable bed, just like our own bed at home. I could sleep in all day on this bed, but we didn't go to Port Lincoln for that reason. Otherwise, we should have just stayed home instead. Of course, we love to see what's in here in this beautiful town.

Coffee, please!!!

I was starving since I only had cups of coffee, rockmelon, Spam and Cornish pasty the previous day. When my husband John and I were watching tennis, I was craving for something to eat, but the only fastfood that's open was McDonald's. John was willing to drive late at night to get us something to eat from Macca's but I said, we just had to sleep it off, anyway, it's already late.

John brought our coffee machine with us, so that's another good thing about this trip. We can still have our coffee first thing in the morning and whenever we'd love a cuppa. We started our day with a cup of coffee and some fruits for breakfast. Since we both slept in, we didn't leave the unit until 11:30 AM. Perfect time for a big lunch. Like I said, I was starving!!!

Lunch at Del Giorno's

pl1.jpg

We had lunch at Del Giorno's Café and Restaurant located on Tasman Terrace and overlooking the Boston Bay. We had a picturesque view of the calm waters of the bay and lush green grass on the foreshore. We could just literally smell the fresh smell of the sea water, not to mention it was a beautiful day in this mid-winter. It was not too cold because the sun was generously giving us the heat that we needed to keep us warm whilst savouring our delicious lunch.

For myself, I ordered the Del Giorno's Fettucine Pasta dish. The pasta sauce has mushrooms, chicken, spinach, onion, garlic with a tomato and cream sauce. I sprinkled lots of parmesan cheese to add more bite to the flavour. I loved the sauce! In fact, later in the evening, I ordered it again for takeaway.

John ordered the Del Giorno's pizza of the day. The pizza base is thin crust and is topped with prosciutto, mushrooms and lots of cheese. Some of the slices were crispy but the other slices were soft and a bit soggy. So, in a way, we got the best of both worlds. John loves a crispy bread and I love soft bread. So we shared our meals together, as any couple would do, of course.

Afternoon Stroll

After lunch, we walked for a little bit by the shore and continued to be in such awe of the beautiful sight before us. Everything is just in order. People are polite and considerate.

Who says opening a door for a woman is an outdated behaviour?

When we were at the restaurant, an older lady approached me and said,

"Your man here is such a gentleman. You'd hardly see men like him these days. He held the door open for me. You're lucky to have him."

I was filled with so much pride of my husband. I told her, "Oh, thank you. Yes, he is a gentleman. I'm definitely lucky to have him."

He does open the door for me, or pulls out a chair for me. And I don't think it's disempowering women when men do that for them. I also believe that it's not because one's gender is more worthy than another. When men open the door for women, it's not because men think that women are weak and feeble and that they can't open the door themselves. It's a small gesture of respect, plain and simple. As a woman myself, I know I am a strong and intelligent person, fully capable of opening the door or pulling a chair out for myself, but such gestures from my husband make me feel that I am not only loved but also honoured and respected, too.

Shopping

After our short walk, we decided that we would just spend our afternoon shopping. First, we went to Bunnings, and boy, was I too bored there. There was nothing to buy. Just so I could satisfy my itch to buy something there, I bought a large picnic mat, which I will just leave in my car boot. Who knows, sometime in the future, on a spur of the moment, that we might decide to have picnic at a park or on the beach.

pl9.jpg

John, on the other hand, was loving every moment in Bunnings - which is good, because he was getting lots of ideas for materials he will be needing when he decides to fix our shed and the rumpus room. He also wants to cover a tapestry with clear vinyl instead of spending over $500 for a glass mirror to put into the frame of the tapestry.

pl10.jpg

Then, after shopping at Bunnings, our next stop was at K-Mart. I didn't spend much, only on necessary things for work and home. John and I were both tired already so we went back to the unit and slept. We wanted to buy some groceries but decided we'd do it in the evening instead before Woolworths or Coles closes. We got back in our unit around 5 PM and slept until 7:30 PM.

Takeaway Dinner

As soon as we woke up, John made us coffee first. We needed to awaken our senses before we went out to buy dinner. We decided we'd just order takeaway from Del Giorno's. We really enjoyed our lunch, so I ordered the same pasta dish and John ordered the Del Giorno's Pizza topped with ham, mushroom, salami, pineapple, capsicum, olives and anchovies. I didn't like the pizza because it had anchovies in it. So John ate it all to himself. There were some left overs which we would eat the next day.

Then, we watched Wimbledon and were thrilled to see Angelique Kerber (GER) beat Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) in straight sets, and also Serena Williams (USA) beat Julia Gorges (GER) in straight sets, which means that Angelique Kerber will face Serena again in the Wimbledon Finals. In 2016, Serena won the Wimbledon finals against Kerber. It will be great to see Kerber wins the finals this year, but I don't mind Serena to win again to break her own record of 23 Grand Slam wins. Serena is, without a doubt, the greatest female tennis player of all time. She's a champion!!!

And that concludes my Thursday, Day 1 in Port Lincoln. Tomorrow, I will be posting our photos of our trip to Coffin Bay, the highlight of our Port Lincoln trip!

Thank you for reading! If you have any feedback, please reply on the comment section below. God bless you and bye for now!

Pizza, Pizza, and more Pizza! Seeing as i am an italian pug I loooovvveeee pizza. the thin crust pizza that you got looks so delicious. My favorite is thin crust pizza myself, less calories on the bread and more calories on the toppings!!!

I just got finished watching the men's tennis myself! Djokavic took down Nadal. It is amazing that international sports are really able to bring everyone around the entire globe together. That is what I love about Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Olympics. I wouldnt mind Williams or Kerber winning this year either...I wonder if Kerber has what it takes??!?

I am watching them as I type this comment. I believe Kerber will win. Her serve has gotten better. She is pretty consistent as well. She is definitely back with a vengeance to win the Finals against Serena. This year might be her turn to win the Wimbledon trophy.

Yay! Angelique Kerber won! I am so happy for her. She deserved to win. She played better and didn't choke.

Very nice post, and yeah vacation, head out when one feels like it. I love how you format your post and how well it all fit together, sometimes phishy can get pretty hard with justified text, and then pulling left and right for photos and a small block of text. Extremely well formatted, made it very easy to read.

Thank you for your feedback. For the whole text to be justified, I have to place the text-justify code from the very beginning and there should be a space after. Same as pulling images left or right, there must be a space between that code and the text. So it goes like this:

< div class = "text-justify" >

Text

< div class = "pull-left" > image < /div >

Text

< / div>

I hope it makes sense with the way I tried to explain it. Because if you don't leave a space (or press enter for space) , the markdown will not work how you want your text to appear.

Anyway, yes to vacation anytime, planned or unplanned. It's good to unwind every now and then so you don't burn yourself out because of stress from work or from how mundane life can be at times.

It makes sense to me, I was just surprised, so few people take the time to use the Text justify function, (I just learned it a few weeks ago), or the Phishy red text. I love that. I just sometimes have a hard time with the red font not dropping down to another line. I get lost on the end < /div>'s for it. (It takes me a lot of futzing to get it to look how I want. I keep hoping for more HTML code to be available, to make nicer looking blog post.

You obviously have the Red Font and Justify font function down pretty pat. I found I also need to do a blank line under any of the < hr>'s when using a < div> code.

Yes, I love phishy because it adds to a more organised text, so it's easy to read. I only just learnt about phishy two weeks ago. Same as the other markdowns, I just put a space in between markdowns so the justified text and the pull-left/right images won't be affected.

I also hope for more HTML codes to come out, like right alignment, using coloured fonts within a paragraph, etc.

Just by reading your post I now admire your husband on how he show loves to you even the little things like bringing the coffee machine and opening you the door goes on a ripple effect to a wife. I am also glad that you always notice these little things and appreciate it. When I have my wife myself I would take some notes in these post on how to be a gentleman like your husband.

Thank you, @harlot! I adore my husband very much. Yes, I appreciate every little thing that he does for me, because it's in those little things that he shows me how much he loves me and cares for me. He always makes me coffee every morning - never missed a single day that he did not make me one. With me and my husband, it's not just one-sided. We have mutual respect, love and care for each other, that's why I guess, it shows in our actions and how we shower affection to each other.

Indeed !!! I really envy you and your trips with your husband. I am looking forward for my future self and wife to do some weekend getaways just like what you are doing. And also some hotel staycations and with some room services if we both feel lazy.

Haha!!! I sometimes prefer hotels because we don't have to leave the room clean and tidy. With AirBnb, because it's very personal, you don't want to leave the room messy. Beds should be made because you tend to be considerate towards your hosts. In hotels, you know that there's housekeeping and so you don't mind leaving the room in its messy state.

You will find someone eventually that you will want to spend life with. The holiday getaways will be so much fun and memorable if spent with someone you love.

Leaving your tension by the side, enjoying with family is indeed the greatest thing for strengthening the bonds between family members.
I love to travel, across different culture and tradition, each have their own traditional meal to enjoy. We praised those cheerish past time that we spent together. That's what the memories of family and the life that we gain and cultivate together.
Your post made me recapitulate my own travel and encourage me to make this happen one more time.

One thing I missed that I never tasted Pizza, I like Pasta. If you ever come to Rajasthan India, I will recommend you to taste Dal batti. That's my favorite dish that I ate during travel.

I love Indian dishes, too! I particularly love korma, rogan josh and vindaloo, but I always request for mild so it's not too hot and I can tolerate the spiciness of the dish.

My husband and I make sure that we go away at least once a year to spend our time together away from our daily business or routine. It makes us even closer to each other.

Yeah, there are too many dishes, depending upon which state you visit.
In Punjab Gurudwara,*** Its halwa*** is delicious. They present this as an offering to god.
Mostly there they use Ghee and flour.

In our state northern region, We celebrate chaat Puja during November and we make a special type of dishes that are only available at our home. You can't find this in shop.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try anything as I consider myself as somewhat adventurous when it comes to food, although I will still steer clear from raw meat, seafood, etc. or anything exotic.

There are two Indian restaurants in our town and everytime I order food, I don't get the same dish over and over again. I get whatever that's on the menu that I have never tried before.

Cool! You can search*** Thakua*** on Youtube how to make it .

It is healthy and tasty food. It can be stored for a longer period of time. But you won't find this in any restaurant.

I will try it. I do look up recipes on the internet and watch via YouTube how these recipes are prepared and cooked. Thanks again, @saun.

We will all have a great time when you visit me here sis as we have in common -PIZZAAAAA!!! Anyways, I'm happy seeing you having fun going out on a date/trip with your hubby, sis. I really do, I know how it feels like when hubby takes me out somewhere even on just a simple date..

Also, I love your formatting! I haven't seen someone did a post as neat and informative as you do. You always inspire me sis. Can't wait to make my next post... 😊😊
