A wintery Saturday before Easter
Today started warmer that we all anticipated - it was supposed to be rainy. It wasn’t but most of us headed to the market overdressed. That, however, was the best of the day because the weather did turn. And quite quickly.
Yesterday, I had planned to make pickled fish for the Easter market next Saturday because it’s traditionally eaten at this time of the year, in the Western. Anyhow, that plan didn’t work out because the fish only arrived in the afternoon. It’s a relatively long process, so I wasn’t going to start it at 3pm.
As it turns out, today was perfect for cooking. We have no bookings so no prep for tomorrow, but more to the point, the cooler, wet weather is good for cooking. I do love the view I have from my kitchen over the sitting room on to our waterwise garden and our tree aloe that has, over the years become a multi-headed hydra. It is particularly attractive at this time of the year as the older leaves begin to change colour as she develops her winter skirt.

Enjoy the cooler weather cooking Fiona, homemade pickled fish sounds like a treat!
Looks nice, but I've had enough of Winter
I have had enough of winter and it hasn't even begun!!
That does look like a nice little view and great sitting spot! Though sounds like the weather will keep you inside more often than not coming up. Will you be hosting for an Easter meal? That reminds me, I need to plan out what I'm making to bring to my family's Sunday meal. I usually bring a few dishes since I'm the only vegan. 😜 All good fun, though, since the whole family enjoys getting in the kitchen!
I love that view over the back of the couch. It's different at different times of the day and of the year. I think I should find a series of photos of the aloe to show how it's grown. We brought it with us when we moved here and seven years on, it's grown a lot.
Yes, I will be doing an Easter meal - we were just talking about it this morning. It will be a traditional roast with chickpea patties for the veggies and a chocolate dessert. Not sure, yet on the soup. Watch this space! lol
Here's my backyard view with my post-run green smoothie. 😉
