ULOG: A word of mouth movement for explaining what Ulogs is
About two weeks ago I set out to create a contest asking people to create a video explaining what Ulogs meant for them. To be honest I was afraid that no one would join because I don't have a big vote nor have a big prize in my contest.
It was just my way of trying to get some people to spread the word of Ulog and encourage other people to do it. Word of mouth for me is one of the most effective ways of advertisement because you would listen to someone you know, someone that you trust because of the basis of you have built a relationship with them.
In other words, you have created a community with them.
So here are the folks that entered my contest:
This video of Josediccus talks about Ulogs being a channel where he can truly express himself. It is a way that you can inspire, teach, educate and create awareness of yourself!
The post though is more than 2 weeks already as he was one of the first people that submitted to my contest and show that he is always a person that is ready to help another and support them.

This ulog video made by @mariannewest where she explains that a Ulog is something that is happening to and your day. It could be talking about world events as it happens but in the context of how it is affecting you.
She shot this while she was feeling under the weather but she went ahead and did it!
If you don't know @mariannewest she started the freewrite movement that is now a whole community @freewritehouse that encourages people to create fresh stories from the daily prompts that she creates. She takes it a step further by getting people to engage and comment with each other thus really creating a community that mingles with one another!
Now @dynamicgreentk is a supporter of both Ulogs and Steembasic income which was the prize for joining my contest and so I asked him if he can make one he delivers this!!
He talks about how an Ulog can make him blog without the succumbing to a need to be in a specific niche. He can talk about himself.
@dynamicshine tells us that a Ulog is about you! What is happening with you! Sharing about your favorite music.
@zephalexia talks about Ulog being an original concept by our boy Terry. She talks about how in a blog the letter B is replaced with U as you talk about you.
Nanay(Mommy) Deevi(olivia08) gave us this this video where she likens Ulog to a diary. How she became a true fan of uloggers!
@joules7991 made such a funny and quirky video explaining Ulogs! How it is a blog all about you! She believes that Ulog can connect people all over the world! Have a watch and fall in love with this sweet girl!
I love hearing @dreemsteem's voice! So I approached her and asked to make a video but she was hesitant since it will be a video and she wanted to remain anonymous. I told her she could use a Sock puppet hahaha but she was not able to find it so she came up with a headless version of herself. Wearing an owl shirt.
She tells that Ulog can encourage people to just write about themselves to avoid plagiarism. The video is funny and so are the comments!
@derangedvision's is a Steem witness like Terry is and is an awesome person. He talks about how Ulogs is a great way to encourage people to post everyday and share their daily day day stuff. Introducing themselves and if they had a great moment.
He showed his two awesome dogs and shared a piece of his life.
The wonderful @sn0white gave us not just her explanation on what Ulog is but also a tour around her place!
An Ulog is all about you. It is your story. Everyone has a story to tell!
@meno is a great guy. He is a community builder that started @helpie and is a judge for Open Mic which is one of the best contests that focus on talented musicians from all over the world.
Here is taking a walk in a park while explaining that Ulogs is a great concept to encourage people to create original content and not plagiarize.
I kept bugging @el-dee-are-es to make a video and told her she can do a two for one video joining mine and Terry's contest and viola here we are!!
She talks about Ulog being an outlet for her and that it is a medicine for her. She coined the term Ulogesic!

I was thinking if I would make one and decided to do it because it would be so unfair if everyone made a video and I didn't! Then Terry also opened a contest where Ulog was going to take Dlive to a whole new level and here we are!
I got 12 Awesome entries from 12 wonderful Steemians! I hope I did not miss anyone hahahah.
I love what I saw here as it came from a diverse set of individuals. Some are community builders, witnesses, Redfishes, Minnows, Dolphins but what was important they found the message of Ulog inspiring.
In a way Ulogs are breaking barriers of nations, of language of what is acceptable to be posted in Steem.
Ulogs is a great way to create fresh content, content that will make us care about who you are. As a Steemian who looks beyond content but sees the humanity that Steem brings.

I think Ulogs are a marvelous thing!
It's actually somewhat funny to think that in the "early" Internet of social blogging, the standard format WAS something very much like Ulogs: People would start a blog, and it was pretty much to share their personal thoughts and daily life.
Then Facebook happened (2006) and people were somehow "trained" that if you wanted to write or share "fun stuff" you needed to be on Facebook, and suddenly "blogs" were far more about serious publishing where you should have a niche topic or even a business... and stick to your topic.
The funny part is that now Terry has sort of "reinvented" something from a long time ago... and people have to be "taught" that it's OK to just create content that's about yourself and not something serious. Anyway, it was very cool of you to have this contest!

When I started blogging in the days of wordpress and blogspot most people I know indeed used theirs as "personal" blogs or online diaries.
I kept mine as a place to write crappy poems hahahha
Some would have it as recipe blogs and talk about their lives and a lot became travel bloggers. This I think created the need to have a certain niche because people would follow you for writing or posting about a specific piece of content and it would be hard if it is so all over the place.
Like right now my Steemit profile is all over the place and is mostly about me and my musings hahaha. Sometimes it can be serious as I talk about Steem matter. Sometimes it is funny or I try to be when I join the Comedy Open Mic.

Wonderful post and concept! I have wanted to try a Ulog but did not know how to start. These videos have helped me to understand and now I know I’d love to do one!
