RE: At the Unschooling Office - Friends, Dogs, and Translucent “Ham Gems”

Awesome. How is homeschooling looked upon in Japan btw? In Norway it's considered child abuse...unless you leave your kid in indoctrination camps where they learn nothing of value..you are probably being kept an extra eye on - because if you're not embracing socialism, or even ask questions...well, you must clearly be a little kokoo in the head :)

Well, here it is sort of a legal grey area, but nobody really bothers anyone about it too much. Children have, according to the Japanese constitution, a right to a quality education, but what kind of education this is is not specified. As such, one can generally unschool/homeschool here, as long as the parents are not flagrantly and blatantly keeping a child or holding them back from learning/an education.

Same as here. In sweden however it's illegal to homeschool. lol

But even if it's legal to homeschool in Norway, it's still frowned upon. It's OK if you are highly educated and rich and travel with your kids to experience the world. That is simply fantastic, and you can tell your socialists friends in your rich neigbhourhood that. :D
