Steeditor.app: The most advanced content editor for the steem blockchain (Part 1)

The steem blockchain has improved immensely, with its technology adopted in various projects. Since it launched, different projects have sprung up empowering users with adequate resources at their fingertips.

In my early days on the steem blockchain, the blockchain didn't have many projects as it does now. I can remember that there were three steem blockchain projects, and these projects were, steemd.com, steemnow.com, and steemit.com.

Now, a lot has changed, because I have witnessed different projects established on the steem blockchain. Before now, I could name all the projects established on the steem blockchain, but due to its adoption by various developers, I have lost counts.

The steem blockchain has given rise to platforms such as busy.org, steemhunt.com, dtrip.app, steeditor.app, and steepshot.io to name a few. These projects have helped to improve the entire steem-based ecosystem.

In this article, my emphasis will be laid on a platform I have used for over five months. Last month, I wanted to make a comprehensive series about it, but due to my illness, I had to take a break and focus more on my self. The platform is called steeditor.app.

In this article, I’d be reviewing the steeditor.app, a steem-based platform with a cutting-edge-technology designed to provide users with unlimited content editing on the steem blockchain.

Introduction

Steeditor.app

Steeditor.app is an open source platform that runs on the steem blockchain, it has numerous features that are designed to offer steem blockchain users with limitless post editing capabilities.

Steeditor.app was created by @jakipatryk 10 months ago, about the same time utopian.io witnessed an attack on its server. @jakipatryk created the Steeditor.app as an alternative platform for utopian contributors to create and access custom templates for different contribution categories.

I have used the Steeditor.app for far too long that I have realized how important it is to provide and an eye-opener to users that will be willing to give it a whirl. The Steeditor.app is extremely helpful, and you'll get to perform extensive enhancements on you steem blockchain articles.

The first three features you'll see when you launch the Steeditor.app and login successful are, your drafts, your templates, and posts.

However, there are other features such as dashboard which displays your profile information when it is clicked. Under your dashboard, you'll get to view your general information which contains the date of your steem blockchain account’s creation, your account recovery which is set to @steem by default, your reputation, your location, your voting power, and your website.

Your last three posts are displayed within your dashboard under the recent post feature, likewise your recent drafts and templates. You can glance through your wallet within the dashboard feature, though I hoped more could be achieved within the wallet feature. The wallet feature displays only your vest, steem and steem backed dollars.

I am not satisfied with the information that is displayed under the wallet feature. I find it very difficult to calculate vest with respect to steem power, also there's no display of an account worth in dollars.

Though my suggested features are trivial, I believe they are necessary features that should never be omitted when developing a steem-based platform.

Another information you can access within the dashboard feature is the names of witnesses you've voted for.

Account login

Login into your steem blockchain’s account through Steeditor.app is pretty much easy and does not require special skills. If you've been switching between multiple steem blockchain interfaces, then it will be an easy task for you.

Since Steeditor.app is an open source platform that is built on the steem blockchain, for an account to be accessed, a username and master password must be provided.

Login into Steeditor.app requires you to go through www.steemconnect.com which is a popular frontend for steem blockchain. You don't need to worry about how you'll gain access to the www.steemconnect.com interface, because when you click on the login feature displayed on the Steeditor.app, you'll be redirected automatically.

In terms of security, no system is perfect but steemconnect.com has survived a taste of time and it is said to be equipped with necessary firewalls needed to shield attacker who might want to infringe the privacy of steem blockchain users.

Draft

The draft feature is one of the three tabs that are situated on the upper side of the Steeditor.app’s webpage. Unlike the draft feature on busy.org’s platform, the draft feature on the Steeditor.app is extremely unique and different.

The draft feature on Steeditor.app is where you write your drafts and view your saved drafts.

To create a draft, there are certain steps that must be followed. It begins with clicking the plus sign that is displayed below the Steeditor.app webpage. After clicking it, you'll be taken to a new page which contains custom utopian templates. If you're not working with utopian contributions, you can still create your post by simply toggling off the use template button. If you're making an utopian contribution, feel free to choose from 19 custom templates for utopian contribution

The draft feature on the Steeditor.app
has been of great help to me. Currently, most of my post are initiated within the Steeditor.app and it has given me the pleasure of managing my drafts even when my internet connection is down.

Templates

Already, the developers have provided the users with utopian’s custom templates for all its contribution categories, this is actually a blessing to me because, whenever I'm contributing under utopian, there's always no need to be looking for the category’s template.

Creating a template is very straightforward and if you know what you want, it is easy to do it with a few steps. When you click on the template tab, you see the list of templates you've created already. For me, I have just one because I have not been working with many projects.

When you click on the add tab which is displayed within the template’s interface, you'll be requested to provide necessary information such as

  • The template’s name,
  • Short description,
  • Title , tags, community,
  • A custom thumbnail.

There’s an advance option available which will give you control over this features mentioned below:

  • Allow votes,
  • Allow curation reward,
  • Maximum accepted payout
  • Steem dollar percentage
  • Metadata
  • Beneficiaries.

Deleting or modifying a template within the Steeditor.app is possible. Within the list of your created templates displayed, you'll see a pen-like icon and an icon that looks like a dustbin. The pen-like icon is for modifying your template while the dustbin icon is for deleting your template.

From the name post, I believe you’re already aware of what it contains. The post feature is not an unprecedented feature though it has its own thrill. From the post feature, you can view all your post authored on the steem blockchain since day one.

However, if you wish to edit your post, you can do it directly on Steeditor.app with the help of the post feature.

To edit your post within the post feature, you'll have to click on the pen-like icon which is display under the post you're willing to edit. Clicking the pen like-icon will take you to the post editor’s page where you can modify your article.

I noticed a feature on busy.org a while ago when I was trying to edit an already authored post. I saw a checkbox which was thick by default, and it had something to do with sharing the ten percent of my post with busy.org. I felt really bad when I saw this because i could not untick it and ever since then, the Steeditor.app has become my number one steem blockchain editor.

Conclusion

There are a lot of commercial applications in the market, but I'll always prefer a project whose source code is made public to a project whose source code is private. Open source applications are more preferable because of its customizable nature, its transparency, and its security.

The Steeditor.app is an open source project whose source code is publicly available for enhancements. This alone is enough for me because I believe the sky is its limit.

There are so many extensive features that are implemented on the Steeditor.app, and this makes it a top contender for the top spot among its peers.

As a content creator, you need to get in on this project called Steeditor.app because you'll have various features at your fingertips.

Thanks

Thank you for your contribution.

This is a very useful project, and you did a really good job in providing insights about your personal experience with this tool. Keep up the good work.

In terms of content, I think that you did a really good job. The post is not only extensive and detailed, but also editorial. I like all the information provided, and I think that users looking to get started with this tool will find your post rather helpful.

That said, the writing of this post was not good enough, I'm afraid. There were serious grammatical glitches, making your writing hard to read. Grammar mistakes in writing occasionally disrupt comprehension; therefore, it is important to always make sure your writing is clean. Tools like Hemingway and Grammarly will serve you well in composing clear, mistake-free writing.

Thanks so much @lordneroo, I knows it been long I request this, but I’ll love to have a look at some of the errors. Thank you.

Hello!

I will cite a few examples for you:

In this article, I’d be reviewing the steeditor.app

This would be a better sentence: "In this article, I’ll be reviewing the steeditor.app"

The first three features you'll see when you launch the Steeditor.app and login successful

This sentence should read: "The first three features you'll see when you launch the Steeditor.app and log in successfully"

Currently, most of my post are...

This would be better: "Currently, most of my posts are..."

There’s an advance option available which will give you control over this features mentioned below

Again: "There’s an advanced option available which will give you control over these features mentioned below"

Regardless, your writing has improved a lot.

I hope you will find this message useful.

Thank you for your review, @lordneroo! Keep up the good work!
