SteemWallet: A smart wallet to monitor multiple accounts, send and receive steem and sbd using QR codes.

in #utopian-io5 years ago (edited)

While watching an owl, a badger and a rattlesnake at evenfall, I decided to go through the steem-based dapps featured on Stateofthedapps, luckily for me, I found an interesting application named SteemWallet. I read through its review, and I was overwhelmed by what I can accomplish if I were to download this application.

What is SteemWallet

Source

SteemWallet is an open source wallet that is designed with professional rigor. It is a smart wallet built on the steem blockchain to aid steem blockchain users in monitoring their funds and perform multiple transactions.

The SteemWallet application was launched seven months ago by @roelandp, a renowned developer and a steem witness. According to @roelandp in the steemWallet application introductory post, the idea to build steemWallet was derived during his discussion with @pharesim.

The steemWallet application source code is made public so that developers can access it. In my believe, this will surely pave the way for numerous enhancements to be achieved.

SteemWallet Interface

Initially, I don't really talk about an application’s interface in my article, but after seeing the interface of Steemwallet application, I can't help but make it one of my discussion today.

The interface of an application is everything if you're in the application development business. The interface of an application plays a major role in its success because most people including me are drawn to projects based on it designs.

I am pleased with the interface of Steemwallet application, the choice of colors and tabs arrangement proves that @roelandp is a world-class developer who is equipped with the necessary skill set to move SteemWallet application to a better place

Add account and Create account

A steem-based platform without an account creation and a login feature will be worthless. I don't think there's a developer who will love to waste his time on such a project.

The account creation and login feature is a unique feature that is paramount on any steem-based platform. When a user launches the steemWallet application, they'll be two features to choose from. That is, add an account and create an account.

If you've not gotten an account on the steem blockchain, the create account feature is where you should clicked. It will take you through the necessary steps. If you have an account already, you should use the add account feature. The add account feature requires just your steem blockchain username. This is because it allows users to add multiple accounts and monitor them.

I have seen a lot of features implemented in recently developed projects, but I was a bit disappointed when I didn't find a sign-up form that is independent of the steemit.com interface. A platform such as Steemhunt.com has already developed their sign-up page and this has actually been a plus to the steemhunt platform.

I know Steemwallet is just 7months old, i believe in subsequent updates, more feature enhancement will be seen.

Interesting facts about SteemWallet

Monitoring of numerous accounts

Though the account monitoring feature is not useful to me, I know of some who will love to explore this feature to it's fullest. Having to monitor several accounts is good because, if you decide to keep tabs on an account directly on steemit.com, it will be too stressful considering the fact that you'll need to search through these accounts one after the other.

Notifies users of a fraudulent account when trying to broadcast transactions.

The most amazing thing I love about the Steemwallet application is its ability to alerts users when trying to send funds to a fraudulent account.

Sending funds to fraudulent accounts were one of the issues faced by most users especially newbies. A lot of scammers are around and they might trick you with a name that looks more like the one you're sending funds to. Most of them are fun of changing just one alphabet in their names and if you're not smart enough to see it, you might be scammed.

Using the steemwallet application will offer you rest of mind when performing transactions because it automatically checks through the bad author’s list to ensure that you're not sending funds to a fraudulent account. Also if your private key was include in your memo by mistake, the steemwallet alerts you before broadcasting your transaction.

Funds are protected from being sent to non-existing accounts.

Unlike other steem-based platforms where funds sent to non-existing accounts can never be recovered, the Steemwallet application is designed to check through the whole steem database before processing any transaction. If the account does not exist, you'll be notified so that you can make necessary corrections before the application can successfully broadcast your transaction.

Send and receive SBD and Steem using QR codes

In my 1 year on steemit.com, I have never come across a feature which could enable the transaction of steem and SBD by simply sharing of QR codes. This is truly a cutting edge feature and I'm glad it is implemented on the steemwallet application.

Conclusion

Having this smart wallet on your smart devices will do you more good. You'll be shielded from hackers, you'll be able to view multiple accounts, you'll be able to protect your funds from unnecessary mistakes such as sending funds to non-existing accounts and you'll be able to broadcast transaction by sharing of QR codes.

Thanks

Hi Abasifreke,

Thank you for reviewing the Steemwallet application. The post is comprehensive and informative. I appreciate every information about the app. Steemwallet is a great project. I have it on my device, and I always enjoy its sleekness and flexibility.

On the presentation side, the post is well-structured and well-illustrated. However, the content is a bit of a letdown. The post contains information about the uses and functions of the application. I'd appreciate your thoughts and your experiences. As a Steemwallet user, I understand everything about the app, and I can't spot any crucial information in this publication. We value your thought, experiences and if possible, valuable tips.

Also, the post had grammar issues. It contains some long-winded sentences and wrong punctuations. I'd be happy to cite a few examples in a follow-up comment.

Thank you!
