What a lovely piece. It's just glorious.
The house I grew up in had an oil fired stove that size in the kitchen for auxiliary heat. We had a very large oil burner in the living room, and that was it. Heat for the bedrooms upstairs was provided by a system of vents. That's why Grandma's quilts were so highly regarded!
I'd love to have that in my house now. Wood is a little hard to come by here, but I don't have central heat and a decorative maxillary would be most welcome in the winter.

it can also take anthracite or coal.
these things are completely foreign to us! before we moved to cape town, i never owned a heater, lol.
