I recently developed a taste for vintage sterling silver Native American jewelry. Some pieces that I really like are the intricate beadwork pieces, especially on the bracelets and necklaces. Some of the stones and gems used in the jewelry are said to have healing properties.

Turquoise is a very popular stone. As you move throughout the southwestern United States, depending on where the turquoise is mined, the stone changes colors, so you may be able to tell where a piece was produced. The jewelry was and is a very important part of Native American culture. Sometimes when a debt was owed, a piece of jewelry was produced or made to pay for the debt. This is referred to as "old pawn".

Turquoise has been popular for a long time. The Native Americans, Tibetans and Ancient Egyptians all revered turquoise for its healing powers. They believe it can treat a variety of symptoms including pain, depression, and anxiety.

You can find a wide range of the this type of jewelry anywhere from $5 to $5000. Typical authentic pieces are made of sterling silver and a variety of gemstones. The Navajo tribe's pieces seem to be among the most popular style.

I have tiny wrists actually, so I had to find a smaller piece to fit me. This one is less than 7" and barely loose on my wrist. After not wearing a watch or any jewelry for a while, it is quite nice to look at. Thanks for looking.
