Wednesday walk in The PathsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hello, lovely steemians!

This is my participation in the Wednesday walk challenge by @tattoodjay. Yesterday we had a bit of a snowstorm here in Toronto and going outside for a walk didn't seem like a viable choice. So, I went for a walk inside, instead!

How it is even possible (beside lurking around the hallways of your apartment building)? Well, there is an indoor pedestrian walkway in Toronto, crossing huge part of core downtown - The Path. It's mostly underground, with several parts above the ground level.

I took some picture from the skywalk in the south part of the Path, between Union Station and Harbourfront. Here you can see the Harbour street. When I was taking the picture, I didn't notice the blue car, but I like how it provides a nice accent to otherwise dull grey.

The second picture was taken from almost the same spot, couple of meters from the first one, but turned to the other side. The photograph may seem to be just a boring shot of snowed in parking lot at first sight, but it shows some of the staples of Toronto's waterfront - Gardiner Expressway on the left with quickly rising new buildings in the background. And Toronto Harbour Commission Building on the right.

Toronto Harbour Commission building used to be directly on the Harbour Front - on the shore, just a hundred years ago. Today it's hundreds of meters inland.

Let me know if you like this kind of photographs - taken through the glass with reflections of what is going on behind the camera (in this case it's the Winners store and some lamps). I hope you had a nice Wednesday and better weather than we have here!

I'm impressed by our northern cities that have come up with ways for people to navigate the downtown without freezing to death! Minneapolis and Duluth are much the same. It's such a great strategy. Your photos are lovely and that was a perfect place to go for a walk!

It's really awesome. I know that there are cities with underground walkways all around the world, but I've only ever experienced the one in Toronto. There are also some residential buildings connected directly to subway stations, so people who live there don't have to go outside to commute to work.

Thank you for your nice comment!

It is great, especially for cities that get months of nasty weather!

Howdy there missladybug! What a nice set of photos! I mean I know it looks cold and snowy but the cityscape is very interesting and it's nice that they have the Path too, well done!

What a cool way and place to get a walk in without having to be outside

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip
