Wednesday Walk - Weird Goo
Here's some weird goo for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
This goo is a type of slime mold that feeds off of rotting wood. The latin name is ductifera pululahuana common name is pale jelly roll.
Here's a closeup shot, when it rains this mold absorbs a bunch of water and it puffs up. Once the wood dries up this stuff turns brown and dries up into a thin skin.
Here's another kind of slime mold I found nearby, this one is called amber jelly roll, latin name is exidia recisa. This is actually edible but bland and tasteless. I use this in menudo soups sometimes. This absorbs spices really well.
I ended up harvesting a bit of it for a soup. You can dry this for use later. It basically dries up into a cornflake size then when you need to reuse it just throw it in water and watch it puff up again.
Now for some mycena mushroom forests.
Every time I go mushroom hunting I find lots of these.
This time I even found bleeding mycena, basically they are called this because of their red color. Also if you pick them the stems bleed red. That's it for this week's walk.

What cool goo and mushrooms, I have seen Goo before but didn't now much about it and not that some of it is edible
!BEER
Not a gourmet edible but with enough soaking in lime and chili it tastes pretty good. Its similar in taste to a flavorless gummy bear. Asian soups often have this as an ingredient.

Maybe I have had them when I had soups during my time sin Asia without even knowing it
Wood ear is really common in asian soups, most ramen soups have it on top. Wood ear is almost like a cartilage texture with a tiny hint of mushroom taste but mostly bland.

Germany has some of the most iconic mushrooms. Lots of nice edibles, watch out for destroying angels as well.
