The "Crypto War"?

in #writing5 years ago (edited)

Apparently the World Wide Web is 30 years old today.. I guess I was 5 years old then, though we didn't get internet at our house until.. Ummm.. Probably when I was like 11 or 12 years old. Somewhere around then anyways.

I mostly used it to play video games online multiplayer with others at first, I have some great memories of that. Lived many lifetimes in various different games and made a lot of great friends over the years.

In my early teenager years I actually created a forum on our gaming message board about health and learning and even some conspiracy theories and things like that..

So even at a very young age, my early teens I was trying to share interesting things I had learned about the world with others, but it wasn't until shortly after 9/11 happened that I really got deep into things.

Around 2001 I was sort of still brainwashed by Nationalism and almost signed up for the military to go help fight "terrorists", though my father had muscular dystrophy and I didn't want to leave him.

I started learning more and more conspiracy theories about 9/11 and questions arose and I spent YEARS getting DEEP into it until the world no longer looked like it used to. Then only just recently within the last number of years did I get even deeper to discover just how real secret societies are and how corrupt government is and now I'm still when time permits sharing information I find valuable.

It's been a sort of lifelong thing for me and I've spent a good portion of my life swimming around the interwebs trying to figure things out and help make a positive difference.

Another thing in recent times that has caught my interest is crypto currency and how myself and many others sort of believe that is the "new" internet and that's what the rest of this post will be about.

I watched an interesting video the other day on crypto where a guy who has a lot of experience and who has made a lot of money with startups was interviewed.

He's also working on his own program to help make crypto more mainstream and is doing some pretty impressive admirable things in my opinion and.. He said what's going on with crypto adoption is essentially a war.

It was a really fascinating interview in my opinion and I kinda think he's right.. There are forces that want to keep the money system the way it is and there are forces that want to see it change, and they're kind of battling for the attention of the masses in the middle who will potentially use those systems.

He mentioned how this is a longer term game and it might be quite a while before we see mass adoption, though he thinks eventually it will happen and that the crypto realm will be even larger than the traditional internet we are using right now.

He suggested that people looking for quick gains within a few years might be disappointed, but people who build for the next 20-30 years diligently might be highly rewarded.

I'm doing that with IFC which is kind of like the UFC but instead of physical fighting it's a competition for the mind and it has it's own marketplace where people can trade P2P and maybe some day it's own coin as well.

Just investing in certain coins is great and posting on platforms like steemit I think are wise and helpful, though I imagine if you really want to make a splash you should try to think of some kind of niche that can compliment what is happening long term.

It could be something really simple too, it doesn't have to be like your own coin or a competition or a marketplace or anything like that, it could just be someone who reports on crypto news or price values of crypto or simple things like that which could in a longer term if consistently done could blow up pretty huge some day.

If you look at YouTube for example, many of the people who are getting rich or making a lot of money started out on there before people even got paid and were just uploading certain kinds of videos for fun or cause they felt like it was valued by certain groups of people.

And now over the years they have blown up, Pewdiepie for example who is I believe still the largest YouTube channel just basically plays video games.. He got rich playing video games.. I think you could do similar in the crypto realm if you find something you enjoy and you keep at it over a long period of time as quite a few respected people who are wise and who have achieved a lot seem to think the crypto realm will eventually be more significant than the internet we use now.

If it is a war, I'm doing my part to help bring more people to crypto and away from the banks and current corrupt money systems.

May not be something that happens in the next few years like so many would hope, but.. If we keep at it and spend a good portion of our lives we may leave a better future for future generations.

Also for those who are still sort of paranoid conspiracy theorists in regards to a "cashless" society, there may be some truth to that though I would suggest to do more research on the subject cause it looks like the most powerful banks in the world are scared of this technology.
And if they are scared of it.. Ask yourself, why?

Maybe cause it might take much of their power away and empower the rest of us in ways never seen before in history.
Maybe it will largely if not entirely cut them out of the picture and allow each individual to be their own bank. 👽

Anyways.. I know the crypto market has been a bit down in value recently, but.. I and many others still believe it's going to be the future and I wanted to type up a lil something about that and perhaps help inspire some of those who may be a bit discouraged or wondering about what's going on with crypto.

I'm going to include the link to that interview below in the comments and also a few other links and one where it is explained that it looks like a security flaw has been found in Winrar which poses a threat to some people and could lead to crypto being stolen, so if you have Winrar I suggest you update it to the newest version and I hope you're all doing well out there in internet land!

It's hard to tell if they are scared, were scared or pretending to be scared. What we do know is they are moving fast behind the lines and exposing their own Hegelian dialectic. Saying its a scam only fit for drug dealers and criminals, but hey it turns out we are investing in it, oh and also we are building a better one, these guys get rich and stay rich for a reason, they are no slouches!

We must build our future, each of us, we must also support other builders. We must learn to come together and not let ourselves be torn apart by exaggerated disagreements.

If you have time, please say a few words about what you are building with @ifc on this post, I would gladly support the project with some SBI.

It's hard to tell if they are scared, were scared or pretending to be scared.

Good point. I did say it "looks" like they are scared though I didn't say they "are" scared.
But you're right, maybe they aren't, maybe it's something else. It does appear that they are though at least from what I've seen and I would say that based off of how much trash they talk about it, while like you said simultaneously investing and working on their own similar systems.

Well said. I highly agree.

Hmm.. Okay, will take a look as soon as I can and I'll say some words if I feel like I have some to say.
You are already supporting our project with a lot of SBI! But, I won't turn you away if you're willing to do even more. I think our contest could be major some day if we got enough good sponsors and rewards for the players.

I mean.. Look how big the UFC is.. It's one of the biggest sports in the world, why wouldn't a similar one except for the mind instead of physical fighting that is also tied to crypto not also do very well as well? I think it's very possible, though who knows if our contest will ever make it very big or not, even if it doesn't I'm happy with how it is right now and I'm having a blast with a small amount of players. :)

Wow. So really www is 30 years old today and no post to celebrate the birthday on steemit

I imagine there were probably a few posts on steemit about this! I wouldn't know though since I haven't seen all the posts, but it seems like a kind of fringe subject despite how unfringe the internet is.. You'd think there would be more interest..

Very interesting. I can see what you are saying about crypto being essentially a war over the monetary system. Interestingly, the idea of digital money (cryptocurrencies) has been around since like the 90s. But most of the early versions failed (obviously). It wasnt until bitcoin combined many of the differing ideas into one usable system that the idea actually stuck. I'm with you though, in that I believe that crypto definitely has a future and that it will get bigger as time goes on.

Yeah.. The idea of digital money has been around since the 90's and I'm not totally sure why bitcoin stuck the way it did and blew up the way it did, but I have a feeling maybe it has to do with the block chain technology which gives us more trust, so it's not just another sort of fiat but it's also a new technology that is tied to it. And that's a major reason why I think crypto is going to be much bigger in the future, cause it appears to be new and better technology. Hopefully the war goes in favor of those seeking more freedom for all humans and not in favor of those seeking to control humanity.

Yeah I totally agree - both about block chain technology and about more freedom for all humans :)

I've already told you in the past why I stopped, it's cause my phone died and that's how I used instagram so since I haven't got a new phone I haven't been posting on instagram. Have you got the Facebook version up on share2steem yet? If you did I would start using that regularly.
