What if ...

in #writing6 years ago

I may have mentioned it here before but just in case you missed it. I love to read! It is one of my favourite things to do and I like it better than most things. It is even better than s... Suffice it to say, I really like it!

Here are some of the storytellers I enjoy.

Tom Clancy

At his prime, he had an amazing ability to create 20 different storylines and then weave them into a tapestry of intrigue that got me every time. You had to read half the book before it all started happening but it was worth it.

None of the authors trying to keep his characters alive has succeeded. There can only be one Tom Clancy.

Jeffrey Archer

A gifted storyteller who may the best of his generation. His characters face real-life challenges that boggle my mind. When they overcome them, I have renewed courage to face my puny challenges.

His last series of seven books, 'The Clifton Chronicles' will be a tough act to follow but I'm hoping for more joy from his pen.

Wilbur Smith

This guy is unparalleled in his ability to bring the history, the blood, the passion and the beauty of Africa to life. His characters are flawed bigger-than-life heroes that love and dare in ways that will inspire you.

His later works do not live up to his earlier heights and no one who has written with him or for him has done it successfully.

Lee Childs

Jack Reacher is the non-typical hero of more than 20 of Lee Childs books. He has a simple but violent life philosophy and ends up saving America again and again. He has great one-liners and the stories change enough from book to book to keep it interesting.

Tom Cruise plays Jack Reacher in a couple of recent movies without any accuracy. The books are way better.

The list of my favourite authors is a long one. I'm not even going to try to list them all. The reason I'm writing this blog is to tell you that I have a new favourite author. And this author is saving me a lot of money. In fact, Amazon and Kindle will have to rework their budget for this year because I am spending so much less there.

Discovering a new author is always exciting. If you like their work, you have lots of material available. You do not have to wait for their next story. You can read their old stuff because for you it is new.

I am speaking about someone here on Steemit. If you read to relax and be entertained this is the author for you. If you do not have an unhealthy craving for violence and horror but want to be engaged in lifelike intrigue, you are at the right place. This author is easy to read and always gets your attention. It feels as if I won the Lotto!

If you do not know this author, I would love to introduce you to @giantbear. I still buy books on all kinds of topics. However, when I want to relax I direct my browser to Steemit.

This recommendation will not benefit @giantbear who has the illustrious title of 'Dolphin' here in Steemit world. This recommendation will benefit you, dear reader. Go take a look, but be warned! Addiction is a very real possibility! If you start saving money on how many books you buy, remember where you heard about @giantbear.

I want to ask the following:

  1. Go read this short story The lucky shop - A short story - Fiction
  2. Come back to this post and tell us what you will do if the same lucky thing happened to you.

####Disclaimer
I do not know @giantbear at all apart from Steemit and I am not getting any commission or other benefits. It is also completely unsolicited. @giantbear has no idea that I am doing this.

Thank you for stopping by.

If only I'm not too lazy to read. It's a habit I'm trying really hard to stop. I can only read just few books and that's all. Its really sad!Honestly, I need to learn from you. I get bored easily

Oh to be young again...

I have outlawed the sentence, 'I am bored.' in my house. When my kids say they are bored I give them a speech. It goes like this:

People who get bored have lost the ability to use their imaginations. They lost this ability because they spent too much time on screens where everything is done for them. Without imagination, you lose your creativity. Without creativity, you become a boring person. There will be NO boring people in this house!

Start reading, young lady or I will create a speech just for you and you will have to listen to it again and again... 😁 😁 😁

Hahahaha! I agree though! This comment just me laugh so loud. Thank you for putting a smile on my face this morning.
😁😁😁

George's story is likened unto the story of a newbie in crypto who got free tokens from an airdrop and after a while the tokens were worth thousands of dollars....
If i was the one i would thank God for the beautiful gift and help myself enjoy life.

I get this type of question often in my groups for entrepreneurs. If you get ### money, will you quit working?

No I will not. I will take any "extra" money I get and plow it back into what I do - help obese people lose weight naturally.

I would however, take a nice relaxing break to regroup if such good fortune occurs!

I'm coming to you from @kryptonia with the same user name.

Hello Reon. I love reading....maybe more forced to read as a teacher!! Reading and marking the kids essays is part of my everyday life..lol! #kryptonia

Karina!! (@shadowofmywords) Welcome to Kryptonia! So glad you made the move. #Kryptonia is awesome and will take you to people you would never engage in your regular Steemit activities.

This is a philanthropic act from you @reonlouw , always striving to promote the good in people.
God bless you...

I also love reading, I think more than many things.
It is super to see a movie, based on a book, when reading it you recreate with more details, the passages. You live it to the fullest.
