I adore light, it is beyond irresistible in its drama it creates. I just want to capture the light as it spills out from your soul. You have a way about you, so extraordinary. Your light draws others, it warms the very core of me, and it lightens the darkness. But most of all, light is required for growth. For plants. For people. Light. It’s what’s for breakfast.

And so, spring has sprung in the most delightful way. I cannot get enough of that sun shining on my soul, my soul. The birds have been busy, claiming their hideaway for nesting, one even built their townhouse in the mailbox, although they took the lower level where the newspaper goes. Is there anyone who still gets a newspaper? The birds don't even fly out of the box anymore when I get my mail. They are swallows and I wonder why they can't nest in the rafters like all the other swallows?

And a flower. There must be a flower to color my world. The very sight of the magnificent magnolias truly rings the bell that spring has come.

Eight Years ago today, I went to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour the day before the 36th mission to the space station. It didn't happen when it was supposed to. But, I was fortunate enough to watch its last launch. Stand back and wait for the rumble! Epic.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"
