How to make a Ghost in 3D Part 1 (speed Modeling

On this occasion I wanted to publish a speed modeling of a character created by the 2D Illustrator Boris Groh, for this case I used that design to recreate 3D project. You can observe the design of what I called the name '' A Ghost In The Kitchen ''. This video shows only the base modeling that I used to create the final render, and my conceptualization of the idea of the illustrator.

I show Here you the 3D base model of my render.

And the Boris Groh 2D concept:

you can see my oldest post about the Ghost in the kitchen over here:

I hope you like the Video and I hope you will be expecting the next video part of the Project: ''The Texturing'', and don't forget to give a positive vote in the video and comment if you want to continue watching more videos like these. Bye bye!! :D

I liked your design, it did not transmit terror to me as it would be common when dealing with a ghost that lurks in the refrigerator. It looks a bit like a dementor like those that appear in the famous "Harry Potter" films, a modern and brilliant dementor hahaha. It's funny that a ghost takes food from the refrigerator, why do you think it does?

haha thank you very much for your comment. Well the design ist just the modeling part, so the final texture comes later. you can see the final result in my oldest post here.

For the design well i liked to be same as the Boris Groh concept but using my style, so that form of the ghost came when i was modeling him, and I like it very much if you can give me the permission to say it haha.

for your las question, IDK really, we dont know too much about ghost, maybe the ghost have hungry too and he went to the refrigerator to eat. what do you think? :D.

I pass for your profile, and I like it very much. I followed you already, I hope yo do the same with me. Take Care @iraidamatheus :D. and I invite you to see my newest post, i hope you like it and participate :D

Thank you for this demonstration of converting of 2d into 3 d model. That is interesting to see how the drawing is turned into the real figure, the picture had completely different character the environment and objects so lively that you just want to stretch your arm and get it. You are very good in digital painting, like the video and grateful for sharing it.

Hi @stef1 thank you very much for your comment, you're very kind. Indeed I use that 2d drawing as a reference to make my own 3D design, It was a very long job but very satisfying when you see the final result, what you saw here is just the modeling part, I hope soon post the texturing process in another video. I hope you can see the next part of the video and enjoyed the same way like this one! :D

I followed you already and if you need anything in 3D you can always write me! :D

PS: I paste you this older post jus you to see the final 3D model image so you can admire and look the final result :D. bye bye

Wow, that is really impressive, thank you for this link and detailed description. It feels like this is really what you love to do and you are good in it. I am grateful for your offer, I will keep in mind, you never know what we may need tomorrow :)

haha yes its one of my passion, and is not an easy work, you need several hours in the computer to make it happen, but when happens I feel very happy with the results.

that is very sure, I hope you keep me in mind. bye bye :D

Hi @ceheiberg, this really exactly as what you said a speed modeling. But I enjoyed it very much. If just look at the 3D art, I won't know it require so much effort to complete a 3D drawing. I love how you video the process together with the music. The music goes well with the video. You took how long to complete this 3D drawing because from the video, it show so much detail need to be consider and done.

Hey @oliviackl thank you for your comment, indeed is a Speed Modeling video, just to show the best things of my process, it looks like magic if you see on that speed, but just this modeling part took me 12 hours straights to complete that shape, and it isn't the 100% od the job, I still have to add the textures work that were another 6 hours more but I want to post it in another video, the part 2, that I hope you can see it when I added it and also enjoy that process :D.

@ceheiberg, i do enjoy the process. From the video, you really a detail person. You taken care of all small pieces. If not learnt from the video, i didn't realise that 3D modeling is so complicated. Before professional in 3D, do we need to have skill in art as well? Because 3D seems like is an extension of drawing.

Indeed, you need skill in art, 3D modeling, as the name said, you need first modeling in real life skill, or at least some knowledge of how you would model that piece if you were using clay for example, that would help you a lot to be a 3d artist. another thing you have to know is about photography, yes, you have to see the project as if you were seeing through a camera lens, because you put a camera and make a scene using a digital camera tool in the programs, and a lot more. is not an easy work, but when you get all that knowledge you were very happy with the final results! :D

thank you for your comment. and if you need anything you can always write me! bye bye.

¡Hola @ceheiberg!

Technology has brought out the best in artists. I admire how they manage to evolve the design.

I don't know how much it would take me to learn to do something in 3.D but you made it look like it was something very easy.

excellent work...

PS. that ghost reminds me myself at dawn looking for something to eat LOL

You're definitly right, the technology help us to make greatest things every day, and the 3d designers every day we are making amazing stuff, I'm surprised when I look for another work of my colleaguesm it's incredible.

just for this video it took me like 12 hours straight, but i stopped some times to do something else, so for real It took me like 2 or 3 days, just this modeling part, but still missing the next part of the video, which contains the entire texturing process of the project, and that was 6 hours more, or like 1 day more. I hope you can see the next part when I post it. :D

thank you for your comment.

And answering you PS, You made me laugh a lot, because you reminded me that I also do it at night and I look identical, hahahaha. Bye bye bro!

Ghost in the kitchen! That made me smile. I did not realize that ghosts also eat what humans do eat. It's stealing from the fridge! 😊

It looks so easy to draw these days with all those tools. Though, I still do not have the hand of an artist... Can you make the outline of the ghost be more ragged on the 3D version? I think it looks more scary on the 2D version because of its uneven outline.

hahaha well, we dont know much about the ghost, maybe the ghost get hungry too. what do you think about that? haha

what you saw here is just the modeling procees, i will put the texturing process soon, but you can see in one of my old post the final result of thos project, and I can sure you that it looks scary :D.

https://steemit.com/art/@ceheiberg/my-3d-halloween-tribute-of-2018-ghost-in-the-kitchen

Any ghost who knows how to open and eats from the fridge is a two-legged creature called human. 😃

The ghost on the old post still do not look scary. It looks like an eel with long lands. Its edges are still so smooth. 😊

Muchos saludos :*

I like how you worked on those fingers. It was pretty scary :)

I believe we had such ghost at home when I was a child. There were always items missing from the fridge in the morning but no one at home knew what happened during night :D Must have been him! LOL

It's a great and funny idea! I like the 3D base model better. The other one looks a bit creepy to me :) It's good as well but I prefer the first one :)

Thank you for sharing!

thank you very much for your comment.

hahaha nice one, the next time I open the project to modify I promise that i will ask him, hahaha.

thank you very much, what you saw here it was just the model part, Im going to post the second part that is the texturing, but you can see in my oldest post the final image result of the modeling, here. :D
