Remember, your life is valuable. Do not take it or even think about taking it!

The world we live in is similar to this wall, plain and empty. According to the bible, the world was initially formless and empty. Until God decided to create everything we see around from the light to all living creatures which serves purpose in the world.

We normally see a lot of things on the wall, a light switch, wall clock, decorations such as paintings and picture frames. All of it fills up the empty space of the wall. The light switch has its main purpose which is to switch the light on and off. The painting and picture frames can add life to the empty space as a decoration. However, the wall clock not only tell the time but a great piece of decoration too. It usually comes in different sizes and styles.

Today, I had this conversation with a stranger, I was kinda disturbed with the way he talked to me. I was going through the questions he failed to answer in the questionaire, it was about “have you been diagnosed of mental health issue?” He answered, “I am close to having that because I seemed to be depressed lately.” And then he paused. As I was so busy, I did not bother to ask further because I was in a hurry to finish my things to do. I just replied, “can you please answer properly?” Then he just laughed and replied “no. I don't have any mental disorders or issue.”

He did mention that for the past week he did have a serious problem at work. So, I think he is going through a lot of things and he is kind of depressed.

People who are depressed usually have a difficulty in thinking, concentration, loses interest on something they normally do, and feel sad. Most of the time questions their purpose and value.

Am I a wall clock or a painting on the wall?

Recent posts I have read was about Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. They are both popular and they both committed suicide as the online readings I have read. It made me ask the question, “Why would they take their own lives? I assume they have everything, their rich and popular.” The reason behind every suicide seems to be difficult to untangle but perhaps more people believed that their lives are like a painting rather than a wall clock. They seem to view their lives meaningless and unimportant.

We should value our lives because we are God’s masterpiece. We might see ourselves as a painting where people may or may not notice us however, we should always be optimistic and always remember that there is no greater love than the love of God have for us. It doesn’t matter if we have failed on the things we do or sometimes the people who mattered to us seems to ignore us. It does not matter if we struggle on finding our purpose. God surely made you for a purpose and that is the most important thing we should always remember.

If you are currently depressed and have thoughts of taking out your life, please do not be/feel alone, talk to someone, a friend or one of your family. More importantly, pray and talk to God. Remember God created us all wonderfully with a purpose.

Each one of us is uniquely important in this world. You may struggle in finding your value, but in GOD’S eyes all of us is equally valuable. Just like this decoration, I may not seem to understand this art and its beauty but definitely the one who have put each piece together seems to uniquely see the beauty of it.

I think there is more to this topic than just "Not taking your life."

In my opinion, it is about taking life into your own hands, owning it. There have been times in my life where I was better off than I am now yet did nothing with it. I was just sitting/lying around, wasting my life away. That is a form of suicide as well, the slowest and most wasteful kind in my book. And a lot of people go through that as well.

Depression is a tough topic, but it is a topic that one should own, not be owned by. The life belongs to the human, not the depression.

I certainly agree with you. We should own it and do something more valuable rather than putting it to waste. I just hope that people would learn to view things in a different perspective though how ugly it seems to be.

Absolutely.

Being a good example should definitively be a good teaching tool, so I am giving it my best.

Glad to here that and we should continue to inspire and encourage one another.

Oh, I will, no doubt about that.

It is a touchy subject because we suffer differently and we deal with things differently. What affects you may not affect me. Sometimes opening up to people can hurt the other person because they feel burdened by being helpless. The desire to help is their but we are limited by what we can do. We can only gice support and comfort but the real conviction comes from within.

But it greatly matters that they know that there is somebody for them in these times. To comfort, guide and envourage them because they need it.

This is such a difficult topic.... everyone suffers different things and has different experiences in life .... people are alone in this world for the most part .... everyone says they will be there for you and you can always reach out to them ... but they really aren’t ...... many many years ago ... I almost committed suicide .... I ( who doesn’t even take aspirin ) took a handful of pills ..... I thought the world was better off without me ..... everyone was better off without me ... people will mourn and be sad .... but they would move on and get over it ..... when you are depressed you feel alone , no matter how many people are around you ..... people in today’s day and age aren’t here to stay .... they don’t love unconditionally..... the only ones that love you unconditionally are your children ... especially when they are young .... other than that .... we are alone in the world .... we were born alone .... we will die alone .

I truely find it difficult too and difficult to deal with.

Reading your comment make me think deeply on what to respond as it is a vry sensitive topic. I may not know what you have been through. What I learned from my experiences with family and friends, we don’t set high expectations from them like they will always be there for us because they won’t. We should realize that they also have a lot in their plate. They might-be busy during the time we need them but we should be strong enough to face our own battles and trust God.

Loneliness is a terrible feeling. I sometimes feel lonely myself and there were moments in my life that I tend to detach my self from other people. It never went easily. What worked for me is I have that strong support group that I can always count on and who were there for me in different times. Sometimes they do know how I feel and some times they don’t. What works for me might not work for others. But if you feel lonely look for an outlet and keep yourself busy. Think positively even if the situation seems to be very ugly. Importantly, I believe in prayers and our mighty God. He will surely not put us in a battle we cannot fight.

I hope you are doing good and have overcome what you’ve been through.

I’m at a better place now ... this was about 15 years ago when I was dealing with a lot .... and didn’t know how to handle it .....now ... I have learned that I need to handle things on my own....I’ve learned not to rely on anyone for emotional support .... I recently developed a wonderful relationship with someone I truly trusted .... and unfortunately that friendship didn’t last ....so now I’m back to relying on myself. Doing what I need to do to make sure my kids and I are doing well ... that’s my focus

Good to hear. I think that it is better to focus on the things that truly matter.

I hope every person who has depression are strong enough to fight their own battles... I just hope everyone is strong enough not to hide their pain behind the mask. And lastly, I hope they will hold on till they find their purpose.

I do hope so they would.

Thanks for the comment. As what @paparodin have mentioned we have to own it!

Congratulations! Your post has been chosen for the SteemPH UAE : Daily Featured Posts | 14 June 2018.

What I like is this,

God surely made you for a purpose and that is the most important thing we should always remember.

Indeed! If you feel depressed, go to your darkroom and pray... The Darkroom is not literal, it was spiritual Darkroom!

The Darkroom is your own eyes when it closes!

Remember, the bible is full of logic...

Yes God hears us before we even speak.
