Meredith asks... Joining new social media platforms

in #dtube5 years ago

I'm really curious to know how you feel about joining new social media platforms.
Do you hesitate because you don't like starting over as a newbie?
Is it too time-consuming to tackle the learning curve?
Do you find that you're following the same people wherever you go so it seems redundant?
Are there other reasons which may prevent you from joining?
I'd really like to know!

Is it too time-consuming

A lack of time to track everything.
I can appear on Whaleshares from time to time but mostly for doing the cross posting from Steemit. I feel that just have no time to live my life because of all these networks

Time is a factor for me. I'm All In on Steem - writing, voting, commenting, and now also playing it's games. I'm watching what's new, and I signed up for a few, like Trybe whose token is on EOS, but don't visit them much. I remember you were on whaleshares and it looks good but I haven't done a deep dive to look into it yet. I hope you are doing well!

I haven't checked out Trybe yet but it's been on my to-do list. Lord help me, I just started DrugWars because my curiosity got the best of me. LOL

Still very involved with Whaleshares but I haven't used the MASDACS, the cross-posting tool, to post here, there and Medium. Seems kind of silly, but my "voice" is slightly different on all three so I don't do it. Maybe I need to get over myself. IDK...

I'm kind of jonesed that my Instagram is attached to my Steemit account! That is super cool and I want to see more apps like that to really create a bridge between my crypto/blockchain friends, and my other groups.

Besides being ridiculously busy, I'm doing well! I'm just a Discord chat away, Kenny!

Well I would be eager to join if I found one better than Steemit. I dont want to invest much time in a site where the coin is not trading ie weku

Hi @old-guy-photos - thanks for chiming in! How about platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Social media platforms that aren't associated to blockchain or crypto?

I'm kind of biased, speaking about Whaleshares because I'm active there, plus partnered in a witness account. The UI looks much like Busy and there is a thriving community who loves to connect on their Discord server. WLS is being traded on BitShares. I never even gave Weku or Bearshares a honest try because I don't have time for something that doesn't have a decent mission statement (at the very least).

Well I have an inactive FB. Ever since TSU (not sure if you were on there) I favored the idea that creators should get a tiny something unlike how FB does it. I am just now using twitter, but I would not want to spend too much time on it.

I think TSU launched right around the time Bubblews shut down. I may have written a total of two posts before realizing it wasn't sustainable and abandoned it. They both relied on Adsense for revenue (a BAD idea) to pay their contributors. I still have posts on Hubpages, which uses Adsense, but at least their smart about it. They payout based on your personal traffic. So, unless you have a HUGE following and a lot of visits, earnings are scarce.

My focus will remain on WLS and Steemit, but I network on the major social media sites because...well... let's face it, Facebook has over a billion users. If you want an audience, that's where the people are.

A socnet has to be super interesting for me to want to sign up for it these days, I’m too lazy busy to play around with things that aren’t directly related to somethings I want to do at the time 😆 I cut back on a lot due to time. Also was a bit weird signing up to block chains as normally I won’t knowingly sign up to anything that makes it difficult or impossible to delete your own account on your own.
