**90's Flashback** Spacehog - In The Meantime - Drum Cover

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

I grew up jamming to this popular 90's rock song in my parents' basement, finally playing it again today after way too long.

The album it was on was called Resident Alien, so I thought the camera filter/tone fit well. I took a pic with my drumsticks as antennae, but chickened out on posting it.

I played the parts a little harder than the original because that's my style. The last part of the song before the outro is tricky. I could've played it much tighter (I'll admit that it wasn't nearly my best work there), but didn't want to stress redoing a decent take to fine tune with my neighbor about to get home.

This song gives me a LOT of nostalgia. The beats in the intro portion are so much fun and bring back good memories. I love the simple fills starting around 2:39, with my favorite at 2:54.

I'm almost to 5,000 SP manually earned with my bare hands (and feet here) with 115 SP to go. Hopefully my drumming will get me there soon since my other blogging is moving at a snail's pace.

Speakers or headphones with solid bass are best to hear all of the electronic drums.

Recorded 7/11/19.

Enjoy the show.

That was great bro. Bummed I missed this before post payout, but that isn't a reason to pass it up. It's hard to keep up with everything and everyone on Steem. I'll just add my 3 cents towards that 5000 sp via your response 😄

This was very nostalgic for me, so much so that I felt like I took a trip back in time to my young jam band days, I can even feel the digitech pedal under my feet, with it's crazy grunge effects that destroyed more tube amps than I care to admit.

The crescendos were just right, and the fills at 4 minutes added just the right amount of a climactic effect to bring the song to a close. Great job bro.

Thanks for listening so closely. While I did ok for most of the tune, I botched the last 1/4 before the outro and hate that I settled on a bad take in hindsight. Glad it hit home with you. This song was one of my favorites and always makes me stop what I'm doing when I hear it.

Broooo, flooded with memories and emotions! Something so magical about this song for me and obviously you as well.

A very fun drum tune indeed, the guitar parts are just as tasty. Totally arena amphitheatre worthy, NOW that's what I call music... This song was out during the days when I had that anything can happen spirit that rock n roll may save my mortal soul.. Hemp necklaces, airwalks, stussy shirts, 501 jeans I can smell the polo cologne Id have been wearing as I contemplated whether I was going to be a stoner or a jock..

Dazed and confused was life and I guess I chose debauchery and rock n roll over sportsballs.. Poor kids these days, what with the Nintendo and diluted pop music regurgitations.. So unbelievably happy we came into this world when we did.

BTW I dropped the gimmick doge and I'm full on btc train, it's not much but I'm onboard. I guess I need to start doing covers and paying the bills with steem too, in my dreams lol... But in the meeeeaaaasntime, Sheesh I went from spacehog to Tool, SRV, Then OK Computer came out and I later discovered Zappa then Phish and I was officially a crazy person bwhahaha

In the meantime, where's your guitar cover? Play the spoons if you have to.

Oh mannn you're almost there!!! Are you going to stay here or are you done with Steem after your 5000 mark? Please don't go

So closeeee. That's actually a very good question I'm not surprised you asked since you're quite in tune with the human mind. When I think about all of the time I've invested, in lieu of it being spent on my personal life/business, it makes me wonder if a break is due to make up some ground there. It seems like the right thing to do, especially with my circle of trust/friends here being pretty small, and so few of them actually proactively showing they care (like you do). I'm 60/40 for setting autovote on and posting the occasional drum video. The irony is that I could have people swarming around me if I bought Steem, but I hate the thought of that.

Hm, yes, I have witnessed your frustration from time to time and I don't blame you for feeling some resentment :-/

A break would be the best thing to do actually. Just let go of any expectations/goals/quality requirements, whatever, put everything in 'holiday mode' and just let it sit here for a while. Then at some point you'll notice what you like to share regardless of all the secondary stuff. I did a 'mental break' a while ago and I actually posted more because I had let go of what I should do with my blog :')

Why is Steem such a mental f-ck up.

The irony is that I could have people swarming around me if I bought Steem, but I hate the thought of that.

You could still invest on a secondary/anonymous account without posts and downvote the shit out of some people after the next HardFork :D Just for fun and to make up for some resentment :')

Hear hear, I hit my minnow goal and have my finger on the powrdown button, sorry not sorry. I got invited to the minnow league and politely declined as I'm far too jaded for that journey...

Is it awful I don't even know this song you're drumming :-/

No, it's not because you know it now. This band was sort of a one-hit-wonder, but this song was very popular back then. Thank you very much for listening to it.
