Creating a New Account Instantly

There are many reasons that someone might want to create another account. They might want one for themselves or to create an account for a friend. Many people don't like the idea of waiting days to get an account and the entire process makes steemit look bad. With the verification needed to get a free account from Steemit getting a second account while possible is complicated.

But there is an extremely simple option that allows you to create an account in a matter of maybe a minute.

SteemConnect Account Creation

I just created an account (@minnowbuilder) using SteemConnect (https://v2.steemconnect.com/accounts/create) and it took me less then a minute to do and that included taking a few screen shots. The "fee" was 3 steem and that amount becomes steempower for the new account...so while it's gone from my account it's still usable by the new account.

Wanted to share the couple steps you need to do to create an account.

  1. Make sure the account name is available.
Personally I find it easier to go direct to https://signup.steemit.com/ and click on "Sign Up For Free"

  2. Enter the name you are wanting and see if it's available

  3. First things first on this screen save your password.
Then take the name you found and go to https://v2.steemconnect.com/accounts/create and enter the name you found that is available and enter 3 Steem in the section that says Steem.

Make sure you save the password to your new account!!

Wait, did you save your password? Ok your sure right? Then Click Continue.

  1. When you click continue you will be asked to log into steemconnect to pay for the 3 steem and a couple seconds later your account is active. Sure hope you saved your password.

Now you know

So now that you know how easy it is to set up a new account using https://v2.steemconnect.com/accounts/create what might you need a second account for? or what friend or family member are you going to onboard to steemit?

Hope that helps someone out and @practicalthought hope this helps answer those questions you had. If not tell me what I am missing and I'll add it to the post.

Won't this all be changing soon with HF20?

I'm honestly not sure of how the changes will impact account creation, but either way life goes on for the next month plus until HF20 happens and this will work until then. Will have to do a little research into the effects later.

I think that there is something new replacing bandwidth and this can also be used to create accounts. Also if you use Steem to create an account the steem is lost rather than being put into the new account.

You will be able to have a 0sp account going forward and it will be able to function, but the votes won't count. The first 50 vests of EVERY vote will be taken off the top (about 1.2sp at 100% VP at 100% voting weight) and just returned to the voting pool. This is how they are solving the bandwidth issues.

If the steem is gone going forward I'll need to find a new way to create accounts assuming the cost is the same. But being there will be no minimum needed to run an account I'm not sure if the fees will stay the same. Haven't seen this really spelled out yet in a post...but haven't had time to read everything either.

Been promoting as often as it makes sense. Appreciate the support that esteem gives back.

Thank you very much for the support! 🤙

Thank you for the tip! I was thinking about creating another account but didn't want to wait for so long. This is ideal!

This is really handy. Thanks!

I'm thinking about having a second account to experiment with stuff like steemhunt, actifit and more. I don't want to use my current account to avoid annoying my followers with those kind of posts.

However, I probably won't be using this method. Since I've convinced a few friends to join SteemIt but they pretty much forgot about it, I'll probably ask for the passwords to one of their accounts.

Appreciate the walkthrough! Not planning to have another account right now, but I'm going to bookmark this page in case I need to use it at some later date.

=^..^=

Make sure to have a plan if you set up extra accounts. There is more work involved and keeping on top of everything becomes a bit more of a challenge. But with @pifc taking off I need to get the next phases ready to be able to Pay It Forward to even more people and in a bigger way. Taking baby steps growing this and I'd rather set a solid foundation then rush things.

Thanks for the advice! At this time, as I say, I have no such plans... but I had contemplated a separate account purely for "artsy" black-and-white photos without text other than a brief caption. As most of my followers expect written/interactive posts it felt like a natural place to "fork" my account. But it's not going to happen till this account reaches at least 500SP on its own!

=^..^=

That is a perfect reason to have another account. You can always get it started and play around with it knowing that it won't make much money. Just never know who might be looking for that type of content.

Personally I'm debating an account just for trying to sell items on steemit. But so far haven't had any interest in the few items I've posted so that will have to wait for now. Focusing on PIFC.

Very simple easy to follow instructions, I now have my "Just in case" account set up and ready if needed. Now just need to decide if I will use it to manually vote, or just put it on a trail or something.

You can set up your own trail for free and have it follow your votes.

A just in case account is a good idea IMO. Never know when you might need something to fall back on.

Thank you for the information, and especially the how to part. I think now was the right time to get an extra account, prices are down, and three steem is not much really cheapest account out there other than the free steemit accounts.

Thanks I didn't know this I have been trying to get friends on so in theory if I get them interested I could just do this. My wife keeps trying to sign up and it fails and they she laughs at me for liking a site she can't even get on. It bugs me.

Just buy her an account and show her how it works in next to no time.

Thanks for the walkthrough!
