Spring Chorus

in #freewrite5 years ago

New haircut

Spring has finally made her appearance in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Temperatures are soaring at a balmy 61 degrees with beautiful sunshine and I'm exhausted. I did get out of the house long enough to get my hair cut, enjoy lunch with Jeff and get my nails done, but I just cannot seem to wake up. The grueling week of migraines has bled me of every bit of my stamina. Last night I was in bed by 9:00. There was no weekend parties here!

I have been drifting in and out of light napping with the door open since Jeff dropped me off after my nails. The cacophony of sounds outside are soothing reminders that the long cold has ended. Peepers begin chirping in early evening. Various birds call out to one another and the combination of all of their sounds settles my battered brain in a way that few things can. This is why I'll never be a city girl.

My son, Ben, is asleep. We were planning to grocery shop, but he works a graveyard shift normally and he went fishing for the first time this morning with a friend. He needs to sleep most of the day to remain on his work schedule. I've been home since 3:00 p. m. sitting in the living room drifting in and out of sleep and it appears as though shopping will not happen today.

I think I'll just continue to enjoy this beautiful chorus of Spring celebrations as Pennsylvania wakes up once again.

Thank you for stopping by.

Beautiful haircut! And beautiful nail color!
Hopefully your migraine will leave you soon and never come back...

Thank you, my friend @elizacheng. I wish they never came back, too!

Nice haircut, and nice nails! I miss the spring peepers we heard in Minnesota. There was a small pond near our house, and that cheery sound was always an indication of spring. Other than the chirping of the robins and other songbirds, the only notable spring sound where we live now is the annual yowling of stray tomcats as they pass through looking for love in all the wrong places.

LOL we have the Tom cats, too. Thanks for the compliment. ❤

Well done Janelle, I like your new doo.
Upvoted @wandrnrose7, I like
Your nail color too.

Thank you, my dear friend. Spring has finally arrived!! ❤

Yes it has, here at least in Atlanta, though as usual we continue to
Have "cold snaps"... not frosts, but times when you are
Tempted to turn on the heat. I just put on my
Trusty fleece 'sweater'? (what do you
Call something that would be a
Hoodie, if it had a hood?
It's black, fleece
With a zipper.

For me it's a sweatshirt with a hood... I prefer the zip up variety. Today is around 70 so no hoodie needed!

I have two that zip up, one with and one without a hood.
The one without I keep draped over the back of my chair
Here where I sit at my computer. I will alternate between too
Warm and too cold at different times during the day, so I will take
It on and off as needed.
It's almost like a house coat for me.
I rarely use the hooded one these days,
Only if I'm going outside to walk around, and with my hip...
Those days are few and far between, for now.

Ahhh I feel you with the alternating hot and cold. I struggle to keep a regulated temperature, too. I hope you feel better, soon, too.

Thank you Janelle, I cannot wait for this ordeal to be over, but
At the same time I feel great trepidation, having such a (to me)
Major surgery, being a bachelor, living alone as I do.
I live in a very small apartment, so everything should be rather
Easily accessible for me, but still this is one time I would
Welcome having someone around to come and be with me.
Thanks for commiserating with me 💓

Oh no I'm sorry to hear this: The grueling week of migraines has bled me of every bit of my stamina. Last night I was in bed by 9:00. - barometric pressure, you say, is a trigger? I've been doing battle with chronic daily headaches (as we've already discussed). On the bright side, spring really is here...I was outside most of the day raking. Didn't make the headache any better or any worse. But reading and writing never help. I hope you feel better soon!!

I'm glad the outdoor work didn't make your headache worse. What surprises me is the weird rabbit trails my brain will think during severe pain. At times I will write despite the pain knowing I will surely forget it completely. Usually, writing is not an option when the headache gets to a certain point. So far today I'm awake and no pain, praying this continues and weather is 70 degree and sunshine today.

Ooh, I have a new excuse-- "the weird rabbit trails my brain will think during severe pain." Or chronic daily pain in my case. I hope you're feeling better soon!!

I'm finally feeling decent today. We had breakfast in a town near by that took like four hours due to the place's popularity. We met my son and family and my over the road trucking nephew who was in town. I did my grocery shopping and I'm ready to relax a bit during laundry. ❤ I hope you are having a good (less pain) day, too.
