TREES!!!

in #garden6 years ago (edited)

WOOHOO! The trees I have ordered last month have finally came in! Oh I am so excited! This is great news, I am so stoked!

With all this excitement, I have to take a moment to thank a certain Steemian for introducing me to such a wonderful site. Oh what a treasure that person has found for me. With everything being so expensive and almost out of reach, this site seemed almost too good to be true. The prices were fantastic! So Thank you millions dear @mountainjewel for everything :D

And so the opening of this box was quite exciting. At first I was a bit scared to see if I was going to half dead trees but nope they are quite healthy!

All of these trees are purchased at one year old and come in bundles of 4. Im not sure if it goes for all trees they sell but the minimum I have seen is in 4.

My Purchase

The ones I got are ones that are perfect for zone 2. They have to be able to withstand the harsh winters we have here and be able to thrive is short summers.

This one is the Siberian Crabapple. I wanted to have some fruit on the property besides having raspberries, so this makes a great addition. My hopes are to be able to grow enough for my kids to enjoy and that I can bake pies, muffins and jellies from it. My fear is to kill them. I have never grown trees before and I understand that it can be complicated. I just hope that it's not too hard. I am learning as I go and I hope to make the best of it.

When this tree grows and goes into full bloom it will be covered in white flowers. It really is a beautiful tree. Finding pictures online of it is hard to find, looking for reusable pictures is not always easy.

I think this picture here may be it. Could not find a reusable photo of the entire tree.

Image seeing a row of 4 trees covered in white flowers like that! Fabulous I must say.

I have never encountered Sea Buckthorn trees before. I grabbed it for its fruit as well and it's high amounts of vitamins, minerals, proteins and more. This will be a great addition, not just for the fruit that we can use but for it's beautiful colours as well. The fruit being so orange in contrast to the green silvery leaves will be a sight to see.

I don't know much about this type of olive tree. I do know that I can grow it here but I struggle to find if the olives are edible. Some places I have found said you can and some say you can't. All in all olive trees are just too pretty to not have. I am still studying it to see if there are any medicine benefits from it, thinking that there must be. I did find that it can heal wounds. Slowly but surely I will find something really good about it.

If you google the Russian Olive tree you will find some pictures that are quite exquisite!

This plant is a must have here! The berries have many health benefits and one of them among many others is treating respiratory problems. My daughter, Emma, struggles with asthma sometimes so I can't wait to try this. It is also good for anxiety, pain, spasms, cramps, so for the ladies during that time of the month, a go to tree! Both bark and berries are used to help heal many of these problems. I would suggest grabbing one of these trees if you are looking to heal from a more natural method and definitely look into all of its benefits as there is more than what I have mentioned here.

It also brings beautiful flowers in the spring which will match wonderfully with the olive tree and apple tree.

Perhaps in the fall I will be able to purchase more trees if I don't end up killing these ones. If any of you have some great tips in order to help me take care of these trees please do, I am willing to take your advice as these trees do mean so much to me.

Tomorrow I will plan exactly where I want them to grow but I am wondering if I should put them in pots first or just right into the ground. I am so scared to mess things up for these little babies. I have a lot of work to do in caring for them I am sure.

Till then, happy growing!

Exciting!!! I hope they grow to become many beautiful trees.

Me too! They will also provide great shade since it is getting hotter and hotter up here in the north as the years go by. Trees are so important! Our lifeline :)

Hey Foxy! Nice trees!! I love trees! And, would love to learn more on how to care for them. 🍓🍎🍉

Exciting isn't it? I can just imagine my little ones picking apples off the trees and then leaning against them as they take a break from playing and eating the apples :D I know they take so long to grow so I have to be patient ^_^

They do take a long time to grow. But, not that long. Those are wonderful images of your kids!! And, likely grand-kids enjoying the apple tree! I saw your post where you planted more trees. Oh! I hope they all thrive for you!!! 💖

No not that long actually. 3 yrs I have been told which is really good! To me it's long just because I am really excited to make the most of everything and create these awesome experiences. ^_^ Thank you for hoping it goes good. I have little faith in my growing skills lol.

ah! so excited for you!! i am so happy to see sea buckthorn on your list and so many others. i cannot wait to see how this all turns out years from now. thank you for referencing me and i'm so thankful to see your progress! xoxo

Absolutely! I would not miss a chance to credit someone where credit is due. Because of you, we are being offered something so great and important! And when its something like this for my family, my kids, it means so much to me and I am forever grateful <3 Thank you once more :)

I am so excited for you!!! plant them in the ground, so that the roots can take hold before winter!! water with some of that fabulous worm compost tea! You will have an orchard soon!!! Did i mention that I was excited for you!!???!!!

I think we are both excited just the same!!!! HAHA I love it! Yours should arrive shortly if they haven't already.

I was thinking of using that tea too. I think I want to fence the trees some as so they dont get run over by a lawn mower or stomping kids. Like that orange fencing stuff maybe.

You could use those tomatoes cages! I am using chicken wire cylinders. :) i am excited for tomorrow!

oh good idea and I will orange tape it too! just for added measures :)

New trees, how wonderful for you. What a wonderful package to get in the mail. I didn't know that you could get trees in the mail. Is there a minimum that needs to be bought? I am going to go and check it out.

I didn't see if there was a minimal amount, so I would like to say that I don't think so. The only thing is that the trees come in packages so you have no choice to order the package deal. Trust me though, this site is quite awesome :D

Thank you so much for all of this information. I am hoping we will be able to make an order even if it is a small one. :)

Hope to have my own land one day and plant my own. I have two baby oak trees, they are born from acorns from a dying famous old oak. We named it Suuri tammi and has endures two years on a huge pot, but the time will come we will have to look for a place for it. I even made a song "grow" about growing when the time is right, asthe tall trees are the ones that endured seasons, wind, and time.
It is a humbling lesson when you see a huge oak and all comes from a tiny seed.

I agree with you there, it is quite humbling. We have a couple of oak trees along with white pine, the cherry trees, poplar, cedar, and lilac shrubs :) The new trees will do great here ^_^
