Stemit Engagement Challenge S4-W4 | ..Everything You Need To Know About My Current CitysteemCreated with Sketch.

in Steem Entrepreneurs2 years ago (edited)

It's been four years since I last logged into my steemit account... I literally lost my log-in information... It was a big miracle I was able to recover it...

***

This will be my first post after 4 years and I am doing this post for several reasons; My love for writing on Steemit/Attempting Steemit writing challenges like the #steementrepreneurs-s4w4, the peculiarity of the topic in question, and above all, the impact of my article on the readers.

There are a few other reasons I have decided to throw my hat in the ring even though the time was almost up.

Hello Friend and thanks for making it down to my first post in 4 years.....

I really do hope you will enjoy learning about the city I live in. Although I have been permitted to select an area I will like to discuss, I feel that you need to have a deep understanding of why I love my city so well and this is why I will be touching on all the named areas i.e.....

  • Public Service
  • In this area of discussion, I will touch on the various developmental projects of my city, especially in key areas like health, transportation, and other public services like general infrastructural development.

  • Environment
  • In this area of discussion, I will touch on a very important point; waste management.

  • Economy
  • Here, I will analyze governmental programs that foster community economic growth and the general livelihood of everyone.

Does this sound cool to you?

    Yes.................?

Then travel quickly with me to......

    PUBLIC SERVICE

    1. Health

Talking about development in health, the fact that Lagos state is the most developed in entire Nigeria can never be contested. First, there is no other city in Nigeria with organized health insurance like the Nobel ILERA-EKO.

Apart from being the only city with an organized city-owned health insurance scheme (I mean never using the general scheme provided by the Central government), my city also owns ambulances in strategic locations in the city to cater to emergencies.

The above mentions are smaller when compared to other health provisions like the newly built and commissioned Children Hospital to cater to the needs of children and also to drastically reduce the mortality rate in children....... Such a wise public service delivery.

    1. Transportation

In Transportation, a lot has been achieved by the government in my city, and so much more is currently being done. In order to ease the "sometimes very tight" traffic gridlocks, the government has built various transport systems and facilities such as the introduction of the BRT Shuttles, the construction of the Oshodi Bus Terminal, the ongoing construction of the fourth mainland Bridge, the maintenance of the third mainland bridge, and the construction of the longest and modern railway lines running from Marina to Okokomaiko.

All of these transportation projects are worth Billions of dollars.

    See some of them below:

  • The BRT---- Bus Rapid Transport
  • The bus Rapid Transport system is a wise initiative by the government of my city. These buses move thousands of people daily across the city and the cost is relatively cheaper when compared to other public transportation systems. Apart from this, the bus is faster in that it operates a singular lane that is never shared with other cars.

Riding on this bus every day from work at Obalende to oshodi feels really good as I am able to beat time and traffic, and even enjoy a bit of calm plus Airconditioner..... Lolzzz

  • The Oshodi Bus Terminal
  • The Oshodi Bus Terminal is a piece of modern architectural design and really good to behold especially at Night. The bus terminal ensures that buses are packed neatly and safely. With the availability of the terminal, swift movements of buses are ensured.

  • Fourth Mainland Bridge
  • This bridge is very significant in that it will ease the gridlock always experienced on the third mainland bridge. This bridge will also make it very easy for people seeking to commute from far Ikorodu to the island. When this bridge is finally completed, it will not just be a beauty to behold, but a transport infrastructure that eases gridlocks on the Third Mainland Bridge

    ENVIRONMENT

    1. Waste Management

From a careful study of other cities across the country, I can accurately say my city is the most organized and the most innovative when it comes to waste management and also the productive use of waste.

Wastes are collected neatly using heavy-duty trucks from house to house and some of the wastes are sold as raw materials for other goods such as pet bottles and aluminum.

    ECONOMY

This is another area my current city beats every other community in Nigeria. There are programs and projects that are aimed at helping everyone relieve the economic burden. Notable among them are:

  • Del-york creative academy
  • The del-york is a creative academy which is aimed at helping artists and players in the tourism industry.

  • The Lagos International Trade Fair
  • With this program, over 3000 local MSMEs entrepreneurs have partaken in the Fairs and way over 20 registered regulatory agencies provide real business support. This is a great opportunity for small businesses to thrive and also create jobs.

There are still lots of fantastic areas I still have to talk about as they relate to the development in my city, but I will simply like to draw the curtain for now.

Hello my brother @dintellectual welcome back to the Steemit Platform - 4 years is a long time to rest, I'm sure you have other priorities that are keeping you inactive.

On this occasion I also suggest that you can power up to join #club5050. One of the conditions to enter the contest is to participate in #club5050 #club75 or #club100. We see you have not power up and have the resources to power up. Our advice is to do a power up.

Thank you for your participation and good luck.

    Thanks, @harferri....

I do really appreciate the time you have taken to enlighten me.

Your city has many stories, moreover all cities want to always be clean and comfortable to live in, you give a good picture of your city, hopefully the cooperation between us and the government will be in line and corruption cases will soon stop,

    @liasteem....

    Very true.....

We are really hopeful that a new government will come in, and the issue of corruption will be a thing of the past.

Thanks for leaving me a comment.

    Hello @dintellectual,
I must confess that i am very amazed with how clean Lagos is, especially with its massive population. In films, i notice that there are litters on the road most a times. Your city has amazing transport buses, with bus terminal buildings that are eye catching. I guess i have learnt that Lagos is a clean enough city to visit some day.
Thank you for sharing, good luck!

@b-naj.... if you ever decided to come to visit Lagos, I will be more than willing to host and take you around...

Yeah..... There are areas that are also very unclean like the Lagos mainland, but trust me when I say the government is working round the clock to ensure those areas are kept clean....

Thanks for leaving me a comment.... I do really appreciate it.
