💬 Promoting WOX's Top Commenters
It's been 2 weeks again since we promoted WOX's Top Commenters - for me, it's felt like a very long 2 weeks and I hope that your Christmas preparations are progressing well. For me, the fun is in leaving everything until Christmas Eve.
With each post that I write on this subject, the bar is raised and it's great to see so many new authors joining the community and taking the time to interact with each other. This does mean that those who hold the "King/Queen Commenter" crowns will have to keep on top of their game to retain their crowns.

You can probably guess who 2 of the Queen Commenters are. Once again, they continue to chew the ears off those that will listen and once again, will retain their crowns of queen commenters and their 750 delegation.

@ibizaki doesn't post a lot but is an author that I know @stef1 is a fan of. It took 4 years for the great arrival to happen and it's great to see the interactions and wonderful story telling. Welcome @ibizaki.
Our other new joiner is @ronthroop - A professional artist who I've also heard sing a little too 🎶 Although I've not seen the singing shared with us in World Of Xpilar yet 🙂

I’ll try to keep up. Poor @ibizaki . I think he might have a more difficult time of it. He lives in a pleasant winter clime, better to step out into and enjoy the now. I live in a cave. When the snow piles up around my cement rock walls, it’s either connect or disconnect, and the latter ain’t too pretty.

And you are damn right about my commenting handicap, in winter it's so nice out in the sun. Today I spent the day up in the mountains in a t-shirt clearing the woods around old carob trees that have laid there abandoned for more than 70 years, ever since the tourism arrived in Ibiza and the country was abandoned. A pine tree takes like 30 years to mature, so in 70 years you have all these gigantic pine trees bullying the poor carob trees, ganging around them and taking their space away. We tryied to reestablish the old order!
As a little girl, my youngest daughter kept warm all winter on copious amounts of hot carob milk.
Your mountain work sounds like a good, healthy job in every way.

Thank you ever so much @the-gorilla @leveuf @xpilar for creating this wonderful opportunity and keeping the initiative going for two months now. Time does fly indeed. It is truly awesome to not just be left to do what you love but even be encouraged and supported to keep doing it. I am also pleased to see new Steemians posting and commenting. The more, the merrier. I believe we, the top commenters, are a good example for both newcomers and members who kept this community going for the past few years now. I certainly do not take the crown for granted and I am honestly smiling widely on Thursdays and I do shout out that I am still the Queen when I see the fortnightly update on the top commenters. Well done to my friends who were previously part of our dream commenters team @serap @nithku @ezuntimmy @o1eh @steem-venera and @to-tru 👏 I am pleased to see @ronthroop, who I have already been interacting with and have been following for a while now, is part of the big five times two commenters. There are more and more commentators, which means that people are getting interested in communicating. We are here like a good group of friends in a cafe :)
This has been the most pleasing thing for me. We started with a few comments (other than from moderators) and we found a couple of people - these people started commenting more and others followed and now we can see posts with 20 or more comments.
I don’t know what to do exactly to keep up, besides keep up. Cheers to you, and merry your celebrations!
💃 This sounds quite cool and it is actually deep when / if one starts to think about it. You are doing it already and this is the best about it. Being exactly whoever you are here on the platform in our community works just fine and it is the very opposite to real life where people tend to speak and act in a certain way having in mind the circumstances. Here the best you can do is show your real self, be different and stand out from the crowd. I still remember what @the-gorilla said in one of his posts before this initiative has even started. It was in brief that if you actually read a post, you already have some sort of opinion on it so why not share it here. As simple as that. Based on my experience worse comes to worst you will get no reply and that’s about it really. So just keep doing what you are doing and I look forward to your next post 💁♀️Enjoy the weekend my friend.
Blogging is a new pastime. I’ve been posting my paintings and writing for years on Facebook and Instagram with very little feedback. A few likes and loves. I picture the fingers swiping up and looking at the work for less than two seconds, liking it (or not). Steemit has the potential to be truly social. Time is the only barrier. Taking thoughts to words isn’t for everyone. Still, I feel that there is more two-way appreciation here. “Good vibes” as my youngest daughter says:)
I find this difficult - I've already deleted this comment a couple of times and could spend 20 minutes thinking about the best way to agree with you. This time though, I've decided just to type it and then post 🙂

There are certainly good vibes here 🙌 Facebook and Instagram are in real the very opposite to being social really right now. They are definitely not the right place for you to post your art or for me to post my photography unless you care nothing about valuable feedback and you have all the time in the world. It is actually quite hard to meet like-minded people on social media as it is more about friends and friends of friends whatever that means any more. Social media is also the cheapest way to advertise online so we get to see all sorts of things in our newsfeeds and unwillingly become a part of somebody’s marketing campaign. There are tons of content on social media too and it makes a difference when you are super famous which is unfair in the end of the day. Here is even a super real example too as I went to a London based Christmas market by the Thames and I posted about it but apparently David Beckham was there earlier the very same day. So guess who got more likes and whose photos regardless of the quality found their way into the news the next day 🤔 I am also good at ice skating, I have cool moves and I posted when I was at the ice rink by the National History Museum here in London but appeared David Beckham did the very same few hours ago. Then the following day you see articles about that online. So I just ask myself why on earth journalists copy and paste what a famous person posted on social media? Is this what journalism is nowadays? I hope not.
You might be surprised to know, that I’ve never heard of David Beckham. Well, now I have. I had to look him up. Not impressed:)
You’re absolutely right about Facebook and Instagram. I am sending all this content through their platforms and getting advertised to. As a painter, I always hope to gain a toehold for success at selling some work.

However, 6 years ago, through Facebook, I “met” several painters who have enriched my life tenfold. Now that those friendships are nurtured, it is difficult to leave. There (and Instagram) is where I see their work and support them. I will try to bring them into Steemit. I tried before with a friend in Saint Petersburg. Attempting an explanation of the concept of blockchain rewards in translation, especially when I know so very little about it myself, well...
Not an easy sell. But I’m a firm supporter, even if I haven’t cashed in penny in crypto or USD. The concept is Greek to me, at present.

It will be great if you can bring more artists to the platform and especially get some to join our WORLD OF XPILAR community.
It is definitely not the right time to cash Steem as the price is low. You need an account on Binance or similar where you have a crypto wallet. Some choose to invest in other cryptos in the top one hundred. Others cash into their bank accounts which can be a bit tricky depending on where you live. As you mentioned you have a friend in Saint Petersburg, assuming in Russia, they have different laws and restrictions there which make it much easier for them to cash Steem in their own currency. We here in England used to be able to do that but many were using this opportunity to purchase illegal goods so this is not possible any more. Now we need to go through another app e.g. SwissBorg to be able to transfer some GBP to a bank account. It is quite of a process but there are plenty of manuals online and please be aware of the taxes and charges so a withdraw makes sense in the end of the day. So you need to do some research and then have a serious think about what you really want to do with your crypto as the more you have here on the platform earns you more 💁♀️
Thank you for sharing this information. I do need to spend some time reading up on exchange procedures. Supreme crypto ignorance has fed my already cautious behavior. So I’ll just continue to power up until I’m an Orca.
