False conspiracy: The engineered rabbit hole
I have been reading a few articles here lately on several topics but, I won't get into them now. One phrase that does come up is "Down the rabbit hole" and is used to imply a deep dive into information, to follow the threads of a topic wherever they may lead. At the end of the rabbit hole, truth is found.
These truths are generally the real information on topics considered conspiracies, from assassinations to alien abductions to pedophilia coverups and human cloning. Those that follow the trail must face all kinds of ordeals, just like the eccentric and psychedelic adventures of the phrase's source, Alice in wonderland
The reward to take the journey for a truthseeker is large as it takes work, searching, reading and following the crumbs that lead on and on. The more one travels the length of the hole, the more invested one becomes and that is of course going to encounter a sunk cost fallacy dilemma.
After researching and reading all that way, how can what is found not be true? But, for the most part these days, none of the people doing the searching actually have any immediate contact with the situation itself, it is all second hand knowledge, hearsay, the words of others.
This doesn't make them incorrect but, we are living in the world of the internet, the playground of a lot of trolls, less than stable minds but more importantly, governments and their operatives. People seem to discount this side of the story, they think the rabbit hole is real, the crumbs are real, the white rabbit they chase is real. They work under the assumption that the information is clean, uncompromised by those who benefit from misdirection.
What if they are plants?
The low quality web coding and 1995 visuals, gifs and tiled backgrounds. The hidden faces, changed names, sketchy backgrounds and the liberal smatterings of conspiracy buzzwords. Maybe, it is all too convenient. After all, why would those who have the power for atrocity and conspiracy not fill in the holes with cement?
You don't want to believe they can, do you? You don't want to believe you may have been duped into thinking you know the truth so you will dismiss this notion as ludicrous. They are too disorganized, they don't have the reach, they couldn't possibly coordinate the engineering of such trails for the paths are too wide, too organic.
Memes spread, that is what they do. They know that, don't you?
This is the age of the internet with those looking for fame and fortune and anonymous infamy. A few hints here, a leaked document that falls into the right hands and published over there and soon, the network builds itself, the tale weaves its own web. They tunnel their own paths to reach conclusions that through the very organic nature of their development, seem plausible to someone who has followed the and now feels they have experienced a revelation of truth.
It is a story as old as stories, is it not? The things legends are made of and gospels. The path to enlightenment or tyranny is taken one step at a time. And with nudges to goad one on and just enough work to obtain the next level, the con is complete, the lure swallowed, the conspiracy and its conclusion have become alternative facts held in the minds of those who believe they now know.
Do you think you are smarter than they, smarter than those playing a game thousands of years long to manipulate the masses, the ones trained in deception, propaganda and manipulation of mind? Are you sure?
You could have just run a maze of their making like a mouse searching for the cheese at the end of a tunnel but, a box of their creation nonetheless. The rabbit hole that twists and turns for the mouse appears straight to the designer for they have worked backwards from the conclusion to signpost the way. And when run from the start, the path seems one of randomness yet logical, chance and mistake that all lead to a single point that drives the nail home.
It is how to write a genius character without being a genius, solve the puzzle and work backwards. Hindsight is 20/20.

This is great that you explained here. I have read a book "Keep you brain alive" it says how we are manipulated here and what we see is not our but we are following a line or a march of ignorant people to a hole which has no end, which you gave name "Rabbit hole" yea its true. And this book also covers how your brain works what you can do !!
yes mostly what we think is random, is not!! brain has lot of capacity. You figured that out yourself its marvelous you must be a great critical thinker!
Some of the things on the internet are obvious plants. And, one of the tools to allow you good discernment when confronting the rabbit hole, is your own internal BS meter. And really, this is a modern way of saying intuition.
Sometimes you do not need intuition because a guy's story is so ridiculous you just have to walk away. For instance Corey Goode and his stories about the blue chicken people just drives me nuts. Even worse MUFON sponsors him to come talk at their events. MUFON it seems has become both corrupted and co-opted.
And sometimes, you can find a pattern in someone that unveils an agenda. While I do like to listen to Joe Rogan when he has a funny or interesting guest, I have noticed a pattern with him. And the pattern I noticed is that he comes off as interested paranormal and alternative thinking. But, he always drops in an angle that seems to support the status quo elite. And specifically, he seems to be in with the trans-humanist crowd. At least , that is what I get from listening to him from time to time. His podcast is only one example. And I am not even sure he is aware he is doing it. Maybe it's just the culture he lives in out there in LA.
And overall, it never hurts to be cautious when gathering information.
Better to cast a broad net and use a tight sifter to garner information. I've set up my own rules for what constitutes BS and stick to it.
How many are skilled in net making and sifting. Doubt is easily cast into the catch.
A lot of times doubt casting plays off "being skeptical". Tell me, do you think that no matter how long they have manipulated the society with lies and half-truths, do you really think they are so good they can evade common sense and a half shitty bullshit-o-meter?
Just on my way to bed (almost 4 here) but, I don't think it matters if they evade or not as with enough fud, they can separate play and because no one believes it is them who are gullible, all believe they hold the key of some truth, no matter the inconsistencies. This means that some can hold the truth in plain sight without a majority over believing them.
Perhaps one conspiracy could be to create enough separation/difference/polarization/animosity that a large enough group cannot form to challenge the powers that be as they will never agree to work together to face the problems they are unable to surmount as smaller groups.

You said it's not if they evade or not, but then went to tell me "they can separate play", I take that isn't evasion, so what is it? Once you put out a lie and it's identified as a lie your the author of the lie, there's no amount of FUD that will undo that, so when they accumulate these deeds they will reap the benefits. You seem to think that they have the conspiracy under control, not knowing what conspiracy that might be, and now you want to say that the reason for these pipe dreams are because it keeps people separated from uniting against the powers that be, but why would they need to unite, as if the powers that be have some conspiracy against the people? So the powers could be in a conspiracy to create numerous "fake" conspiracies to mislead people and create separation because directly creating separation through good old classism stopped working.

I keep saying this to my husband.. that it's going to go on and on and you'll most likely never get exact answers. We've watched Ancient Aliens on the history channel... sometimes even their proof seems so real but then why do we not all know there are aliens out there.. it will go on and on.
Well, first of all, you're watching the History Channel, and this post is about the government infiltrating their own dead-end theory to mislead people and that is pretty much de facto what the History Channel does.
About two weeks ago I hit a similar point and started thinking that instead of fighting the new world order by exposing it, I might be helping it by contributing to FUD and white noise by talking about conspiracies.
Talking about new world orders puts the idea in people's heads, but does nothing to stop one if it is true. So why was I doing it?
So I quit doing conspiracy stuff for the most part (not easy!). Clearly crap like global warming and WW3 is just FUD, but what if just about everything else is too, and the best approach is to just ignore it. Qanon was the final straw!
There is and always will be skullduggery by various factions and individuals. I do believe though that eventually what is fact and what is fiction will be revealed.

Thank you for writing this perspective. I feel much the same way. And you've said it well. I don't necessarily think there's some meticulously planned overarching scheme by 'the man', but I do see much in the way the powers that be operate that would make your viewpoint seem the most reasonable. It's just my opinion, but it is mine. I'm glad to hear someone else say it.
The problem comes because it cannot be known until definitive proof arrives. If I was a nefarious government or organisation, I wouldn't leave these things untended and would be spreading fud on the fud until reality looked like the Cheshire cat.
You speak as if they can act with impunity and their ever evident fraud and criminality is of no consequences. All the lies and obfuscation will only work for so long.
But how long? Is it not too long already? Governments in some nations do not bother to obfuscate. They tell barefaced lies and dare you to question it.
Conspiracies are there but I think the bigger conspiracy is making those who dig for truth and find it become associated with delusional thinking and disrepute.
It is easier to destroy the person with the information than to destroy the information itself. So when conspiracy theorists bring information to light, then pretty soon, the person is vilified and his or her credibility questioned, who knows if it is not a conspiracy to silence truth?
Well who knows what the truth is these days?

I don't think that's a "bigger" conspiracy, in fact, that's something most critical thinkers would send a red flag and be counter-productive if someone is simply "associated" with some "pipe dream", after all it's behoves to verify and investigate and not take things at face value, if you're a critical thinker.
It depends. Destroying a person could very well mean releasing the information. Every slanderous action can backfire and turn out to be a godsend for the one who's being slandered.
There are many truths, so which truth? and of course, the intrepid thing to keep in mind is that they can rely on an Ad Hominem to make their points but they will only bury themselves even more by choosing that untenable position, to begin with as every critical thinker can spot an ad hominem from a mile away.

I can think of @sco and @tfcoates that would appreciate this article. Some of us are actively working to fight disinformation and these biases and pseudoscience. It's a long battle and it's only fighting the disease. To stop it from developing we would need to improve education and to develop better ways to teach people about the dangers of trusting any kind of source.
In Romania, I fought disinformation (in healthcare and politics) for two years and has only given me arrhythmia. Uneducated people are impassible to any evidence. Even when confronted to the fact that the original anti-vaxxer admitted of being a fraud in front of Congress or whatever, they put it on huge pressure on his family by Big Pharma.
Education is key! The question is how do we educate huge masses of people with our resources? The world leaders don't actually care about education, and the leaders in Eastern Europe certainly are against education as all governments are populist. You can't be populist with smart-enough audience.
Yes, it is a problem because some of the information is likely legit but, it will get buried under the illegitimate. I figure, that is the, much like content discovery here ;)
Education is of course important but it can never come from an authority who has an agenda, it needs to be decentralized. It is one of my hopes for the cryptosphere in the future.

Conspiracies are a terrible waste of energy. All they serve is an outlet for people's distrust, paranoia, and anger. And it deepens them. Everyone should know that these powerful people are correct and they lie, wreak havoc and destruction and cannot be trusted. That's all the average person needs to know. And people's energy is better spent improving situations. Create solutions. Love people. Feed people. Build things. Help other people.
I like to believe that I am cautious enough not to be lead down the rabbit hole very easily. I have over the years and through what I consider a gifted past, although no one else would think so, become distrusting when it comes to internet news, mass media and government reports.
Leading sheep astray and dividing the masses is the name of the game for whoever wants to have control.
I like researching info and doing my own investigations. This includes making contact with and networking with people around the world as to obtain the info from a real source.
There is always agenda's that come to light if you pay attention. Even in simple friendships and relationships whether personal or professional.

This is how I see it. Break up the flock, distribute the black sheep or isolate them.
I actually like conspiracy theories a lot and through personal experience, I tend to think there is more truth in them than many believe, less than many believe too. I do enjoy the lateral thinking though.
It happens whether people like to believe it or not. There are a few organisations than pull all the strings and enough power to manipulate the game in their favour, or whoever's favour that pays the best.
