Long time crypto user, first time Steemit-poster. Loving it already!
I have always been fascinated by the power of blockchain ever since I learned about our precious bitcoin in 2014. 
It was after learning about BTC that I became extremely passionate about learning the different types of blockchains and what their uses are. That is where I found Steemit and everything that goes into creating this delicate ecosystem we all enjoy. It is this infographic that got me salivating to learn more about Steemit:
The idea of pure, decentralized content curation with a utility token to boot, wow! That is one compelling use-case for Steemit, and I am so excited to get started using this incredible platform that has changed peoples' lives. I have had the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world, and I am an avid foodie, reviewer of all things, critic (who's not a critic in today's world), and I love to learn new things and meet new people. It keeps life fresh!
Recently I have been working on the art of bonsai and have learning patience and anxiety-relief from this cool hobby. Here is my little bonsai, a Ginseng Grafted Ficus, only about eight months old.
Finally, I would have to be crazy if I didn't mention my dog, Rupert. He is the sweetest Goldendoodle I have ever encountered and makes for one helluva companion!
It is driving me crazy that my photos are coming out sideways, but that's what I get for being new to the platform, I promise my posts will get better over time.
I cannot wait to meet members of the Steemit community from around the world and dive headfirst into this excellent platform! I'm on the Steemit train now, baby!

We encourage everyone to explore the various posts and to leave personal comments on those that you wish (for example - thoughts regarding the content or a sharing of a similar experience you've had). This platform thrives through interaction as it's the best way to build relationships with other Steemians while finding communities and initiatives that peak your interests.
We like to advise bloggers to cite if images, videos, etc. used in their posts are of their own creation. This practice gives the creators an opportunity to have it clearly labeled that the works portrayed are the rightful property of the party posting it.
Another tip that we share with everyone is to be careful of copyright infringement when using material that is not of their original creation. Content (for example - images from a website) that grants permission for reuse is acceptable for content creators to utilize within their posts provided there is appropriate attribution to the source. Hi @benl324, welcome to Steemit! Like you, I am new to Steemit as well. Unlike you, I'm also new to crypto! I've been looking at it over the last couple weeks to try to see if I can make any sense of it all, and I certainly do have some thoughts. I also appreciate the decentralised aspect!
That's a great looking dog you have. My dog (a black lab) is my best friend, without a doubt. She never judges me, despite the day I've had! Always happy to see me.

You should also check out DTube and DSound for starters and if you're a gamer, Steem Monsters! There are many other cool apps but I can't list them all here, there's just too many! But I'd also like to mention Steempeak, it's a better blogging platform that has a lot of cool features. Welcome to the blockchain! :) Oh, and if you're interested in creating your own tokens or smart contracts, check Steem engine!
