Exhaustion 2.0

in #life6 years ago (edited)

I thought I would share an article which explains how all of my friends and easily half of Americans are feeling after a year and a half of the in-your-face hatred for others, racism, and bigotry in the name of white Je$u$. Actually, this has been building since 9-11-2001, grew stronger in 2008, and exploded in 2016. It may not be as bad in other parts of the country as it is in the American South, but I hear from friends around the country who say they are also exhausted to the point they gave up on going out for entertainment, dining, shopping, and participating in the economy because they do not want to be around the toxic people any longer. I concur. It is best I stay home and save my money for the coming recession anyway.

Yes, I know sharing articles is frowned upon because Steemit prefers first rate original content like that on the Trending and Popular pages, but at this point I am too exhausted to care about meeting those high standards. Hehehe!

Enjoy the article! Link below.

I think Trump was 'selected' to push the racist agenda, while the correctly elected Hillary was discarded. It puzzles me how you can win majority of the vote and not become president- American politics are conveniently complicated :)

I really hate our electoral college system. So did Trump until it gave him the presidency. I had a hard time voting for Hillary - never liked her - but i was terrified of what would happen. So far it is worse than I expected. Every day I see and hear people around me doing awful things to others just because of their race, ethnicity, or religion. I used to see it maybe twice a year. Now it is every single day. America can't and won't survive this. I am pretty sure that if this continues i will have to leave. Luckily I can. Most can't without losing everything. I am loading up on crypto now in preparation.

Where will you go? Are you a progressive? Do you oppose free speech or support it?

I am lucky in that i am self supporting. My husband is currently in Italy caring for his dad, so it is an option but not one i care for. His mother is Nigerian - he is mixed race, obviously - but that is a big no. He interned in Canada after medical school so that isnt a problem. His brother is also a cardiologist living in France so it is a maybe. I lived in Mexico and sailed around the virgin islands, turks, bahamas, etc for 7 months so they are options. My family came to north america in 1721 with a grant from the king so leaving would be odd but it may be time since I am a gay man living in Georgia and married to a mixed race dual citizenship surgeon ready to give up one.
I support free speech but i do not support what i see coming as a historian - specialized in American cultural history, the american south, the rise of modern america, confederate mythology - aka moonlight and magnolias, public history, and worked for the state in documenting racial history. State and National awards for research on antebellum and early twentieth century Georgia history. Also, my great grandfather was one of Leo Franks Lynchers - I know historical patterns, to say the least. He is the one with spectacles and mustache with hat next to innocent Jew. HH Looney - Marietta Chief of Police who got Frank released so that the lynch mob could drive over and abduct him.

Well, turns out that you cannot be progressive and support free speech so you will have to choose

In world history what happens historically after people are stripped of their guns and right to free speech?

Did you see the spike in Trump's approval rating among Hispanics?

You obviously never took a critical thinking class at university. Nobody on the left is suggesting either. Also, arguing with a historian about history is a fool's game.
Yes, i did see the bump in some polls. You trust polls now? And no, there is no consensus of the polls. Did you see that Cuban Americans have flipped back to Dem? That puts Florida in play for 2018/2020.

You obviously never took a critical thinking class at university.

Wrong, although I don't think I ever took a course called "critical thinking" I did take many courses in logic and philosophy. so you made one incorrect assumption, how did that happen? can you analyze your thought process and determine how you came to the wrong conclusion?

Nobody on the left is suggesting either.

Wrong again, now I know you didn't bother to click the link, too bad, because if you had you wouldn't make such a foolish claim.
here is an excerpt from the article you didn't read

The title of the article asked, “Can Free Speech Be Progressive?”
“The answer,” the article said, “is no.”

Also, arguing with a historian about history is a fool's game.

I asked a question.

Yes, i did see the bump in some polls. You trust polls now? And no, there is no consensus of the polls. Did you see that Cuban Americans have flipped back to Dem? That puts Florida in play for 2018/2020.

I am sure we never discussed whether I "trust" polls or not, where did that come from?

You asked a leading question off topic - guns. Did you even read the article?
Polls, I saw you on another's post - I believe it was one with you bashing lgbt rights.
And yes you have every right to free speech. The majority on the left do not wish to abolish amendments. You also have the right to consequences for free speech. I doxx. I happily got a school teacher fired with video of him at a Proud Boys meeting. He had the right to his speech, i had the right to share, and the school had the right to fire him.

Exhausted from winning?

Tell that to anyone in agriculture, fishing, forestry, or manufacturing in Georgia. $20 billion loss expected this year alone from tariffs in the state.

unemployment in your state went from 4.8 to 4.2 in the last year. I'd tell them but they are too busy working.

https://dol.georgia.gov/sites/dol.georgia.gov/files/related_files/document/lf_georgia.pdf

I expect there will be zero losses.

have you looked into this:

I will give you one concession - Georgia's film and television industry is booming. Has been for a decade. However, when the state threatens to go against civil rights in the name of religious freedom, they fight back and say they will leave. They hold a lot of power and can destroy the local economy of towns like my last residence, Newnan, if they pull the studios out. Newnan/PTC is where the Walking Dead and many movies are made. They won't tolerate cast and crews being discriminated against. Delta also pushes back with force. Delta rules Atlanta. Then you have the new Mercedes headquarters in Atlanta. Not happy at all with the tariff threats. People are playing with fire and major corporations here are watching every move.

All of America is booming.

I guess they wouldn't be very good threats or give him much leverage if people didn't believe Donald Trump would follow through with his threats right?

Trump did call to end all tariffs and they wouldn't hear of it.

Dude, you are seriously jacking off to his picture right now, arent you? LOL
Yeah he did want to end all tariffs. Even dumber than trade wars. Tariffs have a protective purpose for home nation workers. Vindictive tariffs hurt the workers. This is trade 101.

Dude, you are seriously jacking off to his picture right now, arent you? LOL

Well that's a bizarre sexual fantasy about me, do you often have these sorts of fantasies?

Yeah he did want to end all tariffs. Even dumber than trade wars. Tariffs have a protective purpose for home nation workers. Vindictive tariffs hurt the workers. This is trade 101.

LOL, that's funny, and I suppose you will declare that Trump's tariffs are "vindictive" instead of all those good "protective" tariffs others have. Right?

Hey, you are the one who spends all day everyday gushing over him. I wont judge your fetish.
BTW - these are produced in East Alabama and West Point Georgia. All manufacturing in LaGrange, West Point, and surrounding areas are 2nd tier - meaning they produce products to supply Kia.

I live in Georgia. At present in the agricultural belt south of the fall line in the coastal plain . I speak to farmers daily. Employment has picked up in fast food and home healthcare/low pay medical. Retail is closing, and manufacturing is dropping shifts. Low paying jobs without benefits are indeed increasing - do you know anything about manufacturing in Ga? Not union. Low pay. No benefits. My father was VP of Interface flooring aka Flor. Shippers out of Savannah, a major economic factor for the state, are nervous because exports are sitting in freezers and in Port Wentworth. There are already loses. Crops will be coming in in 8 weeks so loses will mount because they will have to be stored or destroyed. Then you have manufacturing areas like my hometown going with short shifts to keep all employed with less pay. But okay, winning.

seems like there are 589 openings in manufacturing in Savannah Ga at present
https://www.indeed.com/q-Manufacturing-l-Savannah,-GA-jobs.html

and overall the state's unemployment is down a half percent in the last year, that's the non anecdotal version.

Savannah's manufacturing is mostly gulfstream, paper, and sugar production. Gulfstream pays well, the port pays well, dixie and paper production do not. In fact dixie's working conditions are so bad that there are still lawsuits over employees being burned to death inside. But let us go with your reasoning - if you get an $8 job then that is good even though you can not live on $8 an hour anywhere in Georgia. Even better are thousands of $8 an hour jobs. Oh, and if there are thousands of $8 an hour jobs in Georgia then people should be able to just walk up to any minority or female and verbally abuse and threaten them because golly, there are thousands of $8 an hour jobs in Georgia now. That is white trash thinking. OH and yes, i get to call you white trash now and tell you to stay out of places my class go because there are $8 jobs in Georgia now and that means I can behave like an animal. It is all about the money. I don't think or behave that way.
And now please quote the employment trend from 2010 to 2016 in Georgia.

uh huh, of the 572 manufacturing jobs on that one website near that one city, 372 pay $25,000 a year or more. That's more than $8 an hour.

Where did I reason anything about $8 an hour jobs? That seems like a new topic. And then it gets more bizarre:

if there are thousands of $8 an hour jobs in Georgia then people should be able to just walk up to any minority or female and verbally abuse and threaten them because golly, there are thousands of $8 an hour jobs in Georgia now.

How did you come up with that? It makes no sense.

"That is white trash thinking."

But that was not anyone's thinking but yours, are you white trash? Isn't talking about "white trash" both racist and elitist?

OH and yes, i get to call you white trash now and tell you to stay out of places my class go because there are $8 jobs in Georgia now and that means I can behave like an animal.

Seems like you really want to justify your own racism and also to project it on me for some reason, that's sort of pathetic isn't it?

It is all about the money. I don't think or behave that way.

Clearly you do think about saying and doing a lot of racist things, tell me more about how the "white trash" is causing all of your problems.

And now please quote the employment trend from 2010 to 2016 in Georgia.

What's the significance of 2010?

Those are not manufacturing line jobs. Those are second tier. They service manufacturers - which largely depend on aluminun and steel. Canadian tariffs began yesterday. EU tariffs have not begun. The only ones have been from China until yesterday and they have had an impact already. India is drafting theirs now. Your argument about manufacturing in Georgia from 2012 to 2017 does not apply since the trump trade war is just beginning

The last recession began in 2007. Fallout ended around 2010 and rebuilding began in earnest in 2010.

I am lily white, dude. Your argument is that i am a white racist who is racist against whites? What you meant to say is i would be classist by calling someone of inferior economic and social standing white trash. You seem to have trouble with your superiors. When did this begin? Is this why you love Trump so much - because you can relate to his inferiority complex?

You are the one who responded to an article about civility with "progressives want to take away speech and guns" and then "but the economy is ok right now so who cares." I like how you carefully selected which parts to leave out of my quotes. You left out parts indicating that just because there are plenty of jobs (low paying ones - $8 an hour- in Georgia have the majority of openings. Winning) does not give anyone, myself included, the right to be uncivil.

Read the ads closely.

What do they produce? If you look you will see they will be impacted by tariffs which began yesterday.
Now tell me how you celebrated Georgias economy under Obama. You do know this "wave of prosperity" did not begin suddenly in 2017, dont you? You do know it could end this year, right?

Did you read the dates on any except one or two? Did you scroll down?

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

No need, the decline in unemployment state wide speaks for itself as do the hundreds of openings in manufacturing.

You included articles from the Obama years. But that doesnt fit your narrative that Georgia was a third world country under Obama but became super rich in the last 18 months. It will be fun to go on your page and post every bad article about our economy now that tariffs have begun.n

your narrative that Georgia was a third world country under Obama

LOL you seem to have confused my narrative with the strawman claim you just made up, I never said any such thing did I?

It will be fun to go on your page and post every bad article about our economy now that tariffs have begun.n

now if only I had a page, this is a great statement from you though, because I asked you a moment ago on the other thread if you actually wanted to see America succeed under Donald Trump. You seem to be feeling great feelings of schadenfreude in imagining posting bad economic news about your own country, that answers my question.

It's almost like you need for America to fail or you will have cognitive dissonance. America's success ruins your narrative huh?

Did you read the dates of articles besides one or two? Did you scroll down?

And with that I shall retire for the night. Sleep well funbobby. I look forward to more discussion about the coming recession over the next few months.

great post
