EAT STREET MARKETS, BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA. Part 3.

This is my entry for this weeks Market Friday challenge hosted by @dswigle

Here we are back at the Eat Street Markets in Brisbane. I hope you are not hungry because I fear you will be before you've finished taking another stroll down these luscious lanes of steaming savouries, nutritious nibbles and delicious desserts. And then you are going to blame me for triggering your taste buds when you have nothing within reach that will put you out of your misery. So.......don't say I didn't warn you!

First Stop! Kombi Alley! And if you haven't already guessed it, this area consists of a series of beautifully maintained Kombi's which have been either converted into Food Stalls or used as props to lure those with a sweet tooth closer.

If I had to choose between sweets and nuts, nuts would win hands down every time......especially macadamia nuts. Yummmmmmm! What's so Nawty about nuts?????

F Nawtynuts.jpg

But getting back to sweet things......Locomades have combined Nutella and Honey and come up with novel honey puff balls drizzled with rich chocolate. Interesting!

F Locomades.jpg

I loved their beautiful light shade which doubled as an advertising tool. Innovative!

Although Food is the main theme of this unique venue, there are quite a few quality products sold here too. Such as these very cute baby clothes.

And huge air balloons decorated with neon lights which were very popular with the kids.

F EatSt3.jpg

The lights looked stunning. But you didn't decide to walk around Eat Street to gaze up at the pretty lights did you? So let me show you some of the international flavours available.

F EatStlights.png

As we neared the entrance to the Asian Fare I was salivating due to the combined cooking aromas wafting around me from Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese restaurants, to name but a few.

F Asianfood.jpg

Should I pause, put my camera down and indulge in one of favourite types of food?

F AsianFoods1.jpg

But is that hot sizzling pizza that I can smell? YES!

F PizzaGirl.jpg

I can not only smell it, I can see it cooking away in a open pizza oven. There just too many choices all around me. What would you settle for on a late Friday night in the middle of Food Heaven, aka 'Eat Street?'

F Cookingpizza2straigt.jpg

I simply cannot decide but I think I have made up my mind with what I'd like for dessert. Who can resist a delicious, freshly made Black Forest chocolate muffin filled with cherry and topped with vanilla icing and cherry couli?

F BlackForest.png

Or would a strawberry, salted caramel or pistachio and white chocolate macaroon be a better choice? I promised to let you know if my chocolate loving husband indulged in the chocolate fondue on offer last week. Well, he amazed me because he managed to move away from that temptation. Perhaps because he too, was struggling to make up his mind as to what held the most appeal for his taste buds that were unapologetically demanding his attention?

F Macaroons.jpg

I had every intention of finishing up my Eat Street Markets this week but I'm afraid that I still have more to show you and as I don't want you to get bored.........or ravenously hungry, I'll let you go for now so that you can go and scavenge in your pantries or fridges to see if you can find something to ease your hunger pangs. So I will return again next week with what should be my final post on these markets...........but I won't promise in case I have more images than what I think I have that need to be shared with you.

I have a feeling that if we don't eat something soon we are going to end up looking like this permanent resident of these markets. It's wonderful to have so much variety but one simply has to make up their mind what to eat sooner or later.

This poor lady was obviously more interested in finding the perfect partner than choosing what to have for dinner, but died in the process. She'd rather starve than put up with second best. Thankfully, this shouldn't happen to anyone trying to find the best meal to indulge in here. No-one in their right minds would leave the Eat Street markets hungry.

See you next Friday!

What a tremendous post. This market is so colourful .I love how that donut hut incoprorsted the VW vans into there shop that is soo cool.

Thank you very much @waterfordguy I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the Brisbane Eat Street Markets. I'm a great fan of VW's as we used to own one a few years ago. Wish we'd kept it as the older ones are quite valuable now.

Yes, there is a few VW vans fans here in Ontario I met a few when I was at my Antique Market.
As a matter of fact I sold my business to people that had a couple of these vans. I believe they have sold them but they still own a VW bug.So that tells me it never leaves the blood.

You owned an antique market @waterfordguy? How awesome! I would have done your dusting for free! But sometimes we just have to move on. I'm sure your sentiments about VW's are correct as I suffer a little nostalgia whenever I see someone driving one around.......or parked at the beach with them stuffed full of camping gear using their VW as a mode of transport by day and converting it to a mobile motel by night.

Yes My Dad and I owned The Waterford Antique market for 11 years I had a 16,000 sq ft market with 50 vendors 2 floors of wonderful fun stuff.dadandi.jpg

It was a very interesting experience. The building which I owned was quite old and it was taking too much effort for myself to take care of plus my 130-year-old home.

What a great experience to have had.....and I'm sure you will have seen and admired many wonderful antiques over the years. The Waterford's obviously left their mark in your city. You clearly love old things if you have purchased and are living in a home which is 130 years old. It must have been well built......not like a lot of contemporary stuff these days.

Oh Yes I have been collecting antiques since I was 11 years old. So owning my own location was a dream come true. I learned so much from everyone and everything I encountered. I had a ton of return customers that I knew their names. I have always worked with people and working in antiques is nothing short of doing that. I will have to create a post about my antique experience maybe that will get attention. Lol ; )

I’d really love to see that blog when you get to post it @waterfordguy Antiques have an air of mystery and intrigue that mass produced products can never match. Much of the of value of antiques is attributed to the unique Art, design, and workmanship that has gone into the production of items that have also taken many hours to complete. Nowadays time means money and quality is often compromised in the process.

So....what did you end up eating?? hmmmm??? Lots to choose from for sure.

I think that lady waited a bit too long, yes, and her Prince won't be arriving anytime soon ever.

I love markets like this - so many things to choose from and so many smells. I am the type to get very hungry even when I'm not when I can smell pizza, bread, cookies, well pretty much anything.

Sorry @countrygirl Can't tell you til next week. (: There are more delicious treats to show you. This is a very special market and one I will return to very soon. Thanks very much for taking the time to come with me to this market and I'm glad you enjoyed looking around. What's for dinner?

Dinner....we had bbq chicken with fresh tomatoes and bbq green peppers/onions. Simple but yummy.

Yummmm. Sounds delicious. 😋

Well, I wasn't hungry but I am now! Excellent photography Trudee!

My apologies Keith. Do you have a tin of soup in your pantry? 🤣

I'm certain the must be something... :)

I hope so Keith. I can't have one of my favourite photographers going hungry on my account. Many thanks for your wonderful comment (above) btw. I will wear it like a badge of honour.

That's a really nice presentation, really dutchy! I've been to the Netherlands and have a souvenir like that.

Thanks so much Erika.😊

My pleasure!

Hiya, just swinging by to let you know that this post made the Honorable mentions list in today's Travel Digest #202

Thank you very much @steemitworldmap I’m delighted. 🌸

Looking forward to being part of the Eat Street experience with you next Friday! But I'm sure @andysantics48 and I will succumb and actually eat.

For sure I will eat hehe :)

Me too @kiwideb. I am not usually an indecisive person but I’m fairly certain seafood of some sort will be on my plate before the end of the night. ( Although I hasten to add that at no stage will I eat 🐳 whales........I’ve got to be kind to whales 🐋 . No minnow in their right mind would want to bite the hand that may potentially feed them 😀😀😀) I’ll be interested to see how long it takes you and Andy to decide what to choose. It’s probaby a good idea to have an entree while you have a good look around. 😋😁

Wooops I put this comment in the wrong section but I planned on giving you a warm welcome prior to your journey across the creek @andysantics and say that I’m looking forward to meeting you and Deb spending some time with you and joining you for a bite or ten at the awesome Eat Street Markets. 😁😀🤣

I'm really looking forward to saying hi and checking out your market - it looks great :) See you Friday :)

Awesome! I'm sure you won't be disappointed Andy. Have a great flight and I'll see you on Friday.

Maybe we'll just have lots of little entrees - shared 4 ways, we could get tastes of a mountain of things...

Now you’re talking @kiwideb That sounds like the way to go. I might not worry about lunch. 😀

Haha......I have already succumbed mentally Deb and our visit is still five days away. I’ll tell them to roll out the red carpet for my Kiwi 🥝 VIP friends. 😊
