Mountain bike shuttle to the top, dropping in on Ashland Oregon

in #mountainbike6 years ago

Hello all, this is my mountain bike shuttle ride from this morning. I got a lift to the top of Ashland Mountain where there is a ski resort in the winter. Below is a view from the drop off point, pretty much at the ski resort.

The ride was 24 miles and 1900 feet of climbing. (Climbing at elevation is much harder than at sea level)

GPS data is from a Garmin Vivoactive HR and uploaded to Strava

Here is the exact location just in case some people on the other side of the world or in another country are wondering where this is. The state of Oregon, USA

The shuttle was from Ashland Mountain Adventures, here they are loading up all of the mtb's.

Lots of nice mtb's on the shuttle, too bad mine was not one of them...

Ready to go and get dropped off on the top of the mtn!

One of the trail heads after a climb up. The guy in the back ground wanted to climb the fire road to get more single track in, so I followed him.

The trails are nice and green here with lot of ferns.

The single track is nice.

Another view from the top of the mtn. It was a nice 70*f day and a slight bit of overcast at 10:30am. Perfect for riding! I highly recommend taking a vacation in Oregon if you enjoy mountain biking. There are many more places like Bend, Oakridge and Portland.

That last pic is really awesome! Have you been to the top of that mountain in the last pic? How much was the shuttle?

Thanks and glad you enjoyed the post. I have not been to that snow covered peak in the last pic. The shot was taken from Mt. Ashland, pretty much the top near the ski resort. The shuttle is $15.
Mt Ashland is 7500 ft and the town of Ashland where you complete your ride is just under 2000. So about 5500 vertical descent.

I think you should climb the snow covered mountain after the snow melts. lol
5,500 feet is a big decent. I bet it was fun though. Would have been cool if you had a gopro.

My climb it? haha If you want to see what these trails look like, go to youtube and check out the trailpeaks channel. They did a vid on a trail named Jabberwocky and one on Catwalk.
Those guys are fast, I go half their speed....

I've always wanted to get to Oregon. My one friend rode her bike there from the East Coast.

From the East Coast is one hell of a bike ride. My ass starts to get sore after 30 miles.

I have another friend who rode From Buffalo to Montreal, then to Key West, Florida. Through winter he rode to San Diego, the Alaska in spring, before making his way back across Canada and some northern states to Buffalo a year after he started. He rode 16,000 miles at 67 years old. I would at least like to ride to the west coast some day.

Wow! What a beautiful ride!

Thanks, kind of looks like the carolina's huh?
