Chunky Cowl /

I think many of us knitters/crocheters have "tempted by yarn without knowing what to do" experience ...

I have two balls of quite chunky yarn for quite a while and didn't know what to do. I bought it at a sale at Wolle Rödel, popular yarn store all over Germany, whoes magazine was shown in neumannsalva's post last week.

My partner suggested me to knit a jacket for my daughter. But it's quite chunky. I thought she will be a Bibendum ... and she shouldn't.

Recently I wondered how others used this yarn and looked up the yarn on Ravelry and found a project by Len4ik :) This is what I want!

Ravelry: Len4ik's Fluffy Cowl

Adding a fur layer with fur yarn inside is a genius idea. I made few cowls before but didn't fit completely around my neck and I prefer scarves. But it may change my mind. Also it's good the fur layer hides the backside of the knitted part.

I tried few cable patterns and lacy leaf patterns including self made ones, I found a Purl Soho's pattern was perfect.

Be careful, don't open the page when you are busy. They have so many nice knitting/crocheting/sewing patterns and posts. I can easily spend a day crawling the website ...

Purl Soho

And for my daughter, as a compensation not to make her Bibendum jacket (just kidding) I sewed her a shirt. I'm happy to see her pointing the print and let me know what is what.

The pattern is from a sewing book I bought in Japan. I want to try a pant in the book too. I bought fabric already ...

That's my Needlework Monday. Thanks to @muscara I got to know SteemPeak and writing posts comfortably with it. It has a function to add beneficiaries that made me decided to jump on SteemPeak. I added her and @needleworkmonday for this post :) I'll see how it works. Exciting!

Yup, I definitely know the "ooh, pretty yarn" temptation, lol! This is why even after using up a bunch, I still have a trunk full of yarn... >.>

I love what you are doing with it so far! And the shirt for your daughter is adorable!

Here is another yarn stocker ;) I know I have quite a lot but I buy when I find an attractive one saying "ya I use it for something". And it's actually not only yarn but also fabric ........

Ah ha ha ha ha, I won't get into how big my fabric stash is... ^_^*

OMG that gnome fabric!!! Love your cowl too!

Thank you kimmac. I like the fabric too. There are some more variation of the same series and they are tempting me when I pass in front of the fabric store ;)

Beautiful stitch pattern <3 and the fur idea is really great, as I always find cowls not warm enough. With the purl soho link... bad, pfuiiii its an abyss... :-D I also love their design and wool, but never bought/tried out anything so far.
Your shirt is über-cute, as the pattern on the fabric is beautiful, with its fairys - as you already know, I would also wear it :-DDD Looking forward to the trousers.

Same. Cowl is tricky for me but let's see. I think the fabric for my daughter also works for adults. You may get tons of attention from kids though :D

The stitch pattern is so pretty @akipponn! And you did it so neatly. Oh yes, Purl Soho is a dangerous place to go to :D
Hehe.. Bibendum is cute. But your daugther is too adorable to be a Bibendum. I agree she shouldn't too :) And it is so cute that she knew what she wanted. Easy for you to sew one that she likes :)

I looked up his name Bibendum to write this post. I was just calling him "Michelin" for many many years from my childhood ;) And be careful, not to step in Purl Soho tonight ... ! Ah but I must check their Embroider section I found today ..........

Hehe I call him Michelin too! Never knew he is bibendum hehe. Ah hehe i always resist but sometimes give in. But purl soho’s shipping is too expensive for me, so it is easier to resist but not the patterns hehe.

The design is so pretty. And now I want more coffee too.

Thank you rebeccabe. It's nice to have a cup of coffee or tea while knitting. When I have knitting buddies around it's perfect.

We must all meet up one day for coffee and knitting in an exotic place. LOL

I love the lace pattern - seems to be not too difficult but the result should be impressive. And the fur interieur is interesting - never thought of making something like that myself but it's worth a try :)

The fabric for your daughter's shirt is absolutely stunning - so much happening on it!

I'm glad that you're happy with Steempeak :)

Upvote will come later this week - my VP is down to 80% and I want all Needleworkers to get my whole 4 Cent ;)

The pattern is quite simple. I could make a round without any mistake :) I will see how it works with fur inside. I regard the print on my daughter's shirt fabric is quite European. Soft, story telling, not too childish etc etc. I'm happy that I can find these fabric here in Germany.

I love the stitch pattern you are knitting! It looks great in that yarn, too.

Initially I wondered the pattern can be too vague with chunky yarn but happy to see it visible especially on photo :D
