711 Bangkok Thailand's Convenience Store

in #ntopaz5 years ago

ntopaz-image-0711 is one of few familiar places to be seen in Thailand if you are coming from the US. Other than some fast food franchises, 711 is the most recognizable brand you will see anywhere in the country.

The odd thing is that you will see 711’s EVERYWHERE. Often they are on three of four corners on Bangkok’s streets. They are used for food, drinks, utility payments, flight payments, medicine, cooked meals, ice, and pretty much anything you will ever need to live in that country.

Thai people call it the ”Seben” and go there frequently in daily life. These are all franchises and run by local families for the most part.

There are “big” Sebens which can be huge and “small” Sebens which can only fit a few people in at a time.

This one in my photo was in my Bangkok neighborhood with another 6 of them within two blocks.

This is my second of three entries for the “Brand Story” contest at @nTopaz. If you have a tale of a brand that hs made an impression on you, be sure to enter it here.

I used a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera for this photo.

Hi dear user, very nice story that you tell us about this brand 711, but I would invite you to focus more on the brand as such because when I see the image I think that the protagonists of it are the people on a motorcycle, so for avoid confusion I suggest you focus more the photo in the store where the logo comes out.

Thank you for your, input, @potatosauce. I agree with your take on this photo and I think this tells the story of Thailand and a foreign brand well. They do not have too much of an interest in others over there, and just keep on their path :)

@fitinfun the 7-elevens don't really amaze me but the massive amount of electric wires do. wow that is a lot of wires.

The wires are a never-ending source if fascination in Thailand, @myjob :)

@fitinfun I would not want to be a lineman and need to fix one, just finding the bad wire would be a nightmare.

Odd to think of this franchise to be there of all places, and so
PERVASIVE as well. Very interesting.
I am considering retiring to Malaysia Sharon @fitinfun.
I wonder if they are in that country as well.

Yes, we have 711 in Malaysia too. But here they are the "expensive" convenience store out of many. In Malaysia I do not use 711 as much as in Thailand. Thank you for the upvote @jerrytsuseer, and maybe we can meet up here :)

Maybe, maybe...I'm still probably a year before making any decision
In that respect.
I am also seriously considering Mauritius, the island nation off S Africa.
