| 1 | On the Dark Side - Eddie and the Cruisers | Though actually preformed by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, On the Dark Side will always be synonymous with Eddie and the Cruisers. Depicting the rise (and fall?) of a rock band in the 60's it has laughs, drama, mystery, and suspense. I remember this movie well from when I was a kid and it is still one of my favorites today. |
| 2 | The Glory of Love - Karate Kid II | As awesome as the first Karate Kid was (sweep the leg!) the second installment picked up right where it left off. This time taking place in Okinawa it has an all new set of lessons from Mr. Miyagi and a new love interest for Daniel. This was Peter Cetera and the height of his career and using The Glory of Love to accent the young love between Daniel and Kumiko is perfect. |
| 3 | The Goonies 'r' Good Enough - The Goonies | You might notice a theme here, I picked a lot of 80's movies. That is the time I grew up during, so they stay very sharp in my mind. The Goonies is just a classic and having the iconic Cyndi Lauper do this song for it was absolute brilliance. The video is pretty awesome too if you get a chance to watch it. Especially if you like old school pro wrestling. |
There are so many others I could have picked... Forrest Gump, Empire Records, Dazed and Confused, The Wedding Singer, Top Gun all have great soundtracks. These are the three I settled on though.

Karate Kid 1 and 2 are up there with my favourite movies of all time. Perfect timing for me as a young teenager. Do you watch Cobra Kai? I hope so because if you are a fan of TKK you will be in love with it. Everything you could want from a continuation show.
The Goonies is class and anything to do with it is good in my book.
I don't know about the first movie and song though. I'll have to put it on the list.

You totally have to see Eddie and the Cruisers at least once in your life. Fantastic! I haven't watched Cobra Kai. I saw the trailer though. Daniel seems like the bad guy in it, just from what I saw anyway...

Good spot. It's not strictly true but it kind of fluctuates. You get to understand Johnny's story a bit more and you gain a little sympathy for him. Your loyalties to Daniel are certainly tested! Watch it! You will not regret it. 😁

Such great choices @bozz! I can't tell you how many times I've watched The Goonies! I don't know that I ever saw that Cyndi Lauper video, though. I just watched it now and cracked up at the wrestlers. So fun to see another Karate Kid choice put out, too. I had to look up your first one, but then totally remembered it when I first heard it come on. Thanks so much for sharing these great picks with us!
Ah yes, On the Dark Side definitely has a memorable opening line. I have a colleague that does it religiously at karaoke. It is pretty funny.
