Mother's Day

How do you love someone that is no longer here? I feel so helpless- and so full of love. How can I get back that warm comfort of love that only a mother can give? The love that only my mother could give. The never-ending kind that you cannot buy at any price. The one that enriched my life.

Every.

Single.

Day.

I could never thank her enough when she was alive and now that she is no longer, the only thing that I could do today was run to that place where she is now and throw myself upon her grave.

And weep

Until there were no more tears.

Behind those beautiful flowers, after the day is done, the air – it fills with quiet, my heart beat clearly slow. Oh, the beauty behind the flowers, it’s not in what you see. It’s those thousand tears that have fallen, the ones beyond what's seen.

The "answer is blowin’ in the wind" – it moves into our lives like the wind and has its way with us. Sometimes these moments have come to me while I am meditating – sometimes when I am in the car going from here to there or when I hear a song on the radio – there are times when I've been sitting on the beach or hiking a trail - sometimes I hear it in the voice of a child – some days when I hear the welcome sound of a hello.

I have sensed it in tears of sorrow and sometimes when there’s so much joy in the room the event is larger than life, like when a baby is born. The feeling moves in this world like the wind – like love. We can’t see it moving, but we can feel it, we can sense it and we can see the results of its presence. We never know when it is going to blow into our lives but we do know that the potential for it to influence us is present at all times and in all places.

Yes, “the answer, my friends, is blowin’ in the wind.”

Finding happiness is like finding yourself. Sometimes you must find it again and again. It is not something that you stumble on one day, I think that you create happiness. You decide upon happiness. Discovering who you are, once again, who you want to be, paving the way to happiness, doing what brings you the most meaning and satisfaction to your life overall. Give me back my happiness! Sigh.
