Repent – Luke 15:10

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

When one sinner repents. Repent. What does that word mean? It means to turn from. To go a different direction. The Hebrew form of this word is “teshuva”.

So when one sinner turns from sinning, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels. But please know, repentance without change is not repentance. Feeling sorry for your sins is great. However, YHWH wants action. A choice is finalized by an action. You may say you are going to by apples at the store, but if you bring home pears, what did you choose? You may say you have repented, but what does your actions show?

So we may say we have repented of our sins, but until that repentance is lived out in action, can we really say we have repented? Have you turned from your sins? Seriously. Have you turned away from them? Have you rejected them in your life? What does “repent” mean to you?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

Great post. So many do not understand this. They remain in their sins saying "we cannot" or "it is impossible" to obey the Law. I have had people say the Law is stupid, unnecessary, bondage, chains, etc. They deny the fact that the Father said it is not difficult. They deny that the Law is liberty and freedom. It is merely precept upon precept, line upon line to them. When He speaks they just hear a stammering tongue. They don't grasp the beauty, blessing, and freedom of the Torah of Elohim.

They sure don't!
And I have heard those same things before too! We are human and will fail as well but why would I not try to do what my Father asked me to do? Why would I just give up and not try at all because I knew I was going to fail? I'm sure since you have kids you can relate to your kids trying to do what you asked them to do only to fail at it...but at the same time you were still pleased with them trying!

I actually use my oldest child as an example of an obedient heart all the time. When she was almost 2, my wife and I were in the kitchen getting dinner ready. I realized we couldn't hear our daughter so I looked in the living room. Now my wife and I would do laundry a couple of days a week. We would pile the laundry on the sofa and watch t.v. and fold the laundry. When I looked into the living room, our daughter was separating the clothes, sheets, and towels and doing her best at folding them. Her best was rolling them into a ball and then stacking the balls of laundry. We did not get angry with her because she didn't fold them correctly, but rather we were almost in tears at the heart of our child who wanted to DO what she knew was necessary in our home. It is one of the most beautiful stories I know of concerning an obedient heart.

Brother...that is a touching story, I appreciate you sharing that and it fits perfectly in what we are talking about!

Repent isn't feeling bad all the time, it's coarse corrections, turning away from evil, turning towards good!

Amen brother and since we are not perfect it is a daily decision to keep our eyes focused on Him!

Repent and believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is coming quickly to judge us. Thanks for sharing

Exactly...even Jesus himself said repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand and that was 2,000 years ago....just think how much closer we are now!!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Without going in to a whole lot of context behind this statement, someone said to me this: “There would be a lot of pressure on my shoulders not to sin if I were in your shoes.”
I could not help but think, shouldn’t we all try our best not to sin? Sigh.

Um...yes we should all try everyday and when we do try and fail we have the redemptive power of Yeshua! Although I do wonder what they meant by that statement....

So she was completely twisting my words and disregarded all that I was telling her. She was getting hung up on sacrifices and at the same time not noticing her own contradictions.
She assumes that I must think Yeshua’s sacrifice is not enough because I believe sacrifices are still for today. She went on to say, what do you do for your sins if Jesus isn’t enough and you can’t sacrifice in your backyard? That’s when she made that previous statement I said above.
This is what happens when we believe the “ceremonial laws” don’t apply. We don’t even bother studying the sacrifices and what they mean or how they work. They went right along with repentance! I mean, according to how they understand it, why do they even bother repenting at all if they break a “moral law?”
Ok, I’ll stop now. It just boggles me, because this was all coming from one who actually reads and studies her Bible. How does she not see her own contradictions?

Thanks for sharing...yes I have been asked if I was going to do sacrifices in my yard as well! Even after I explained it they still didn't get it. Oh well. Also the phrase ceremonial and moral are not even found in the Bible anywhere.

I try to remember that at one time I was blind to the truth and God was patient with me. Just keep speaking the truth and allow the Holy Spirit to do the work! Hopefully that person won't fight the Spirit like they fought you!

That is what the Spirit is for...to lead us in ALL TRUTH. If I understand the statement and why it was said, it is because all the church teaches is "say the name Jesus" and be saved. To most in the church He is nothing more than a trinket, or a native American dream catcher. He is not a shining example of how to live. To the church He died to wipe away the Law...not just sin, but the ability to even call a sin a sin. For most that I have encountered, their belief seems to be the same belief that the demons have. They believe He was/is real, He died and rose from the dead. But they do not believe what He said, which was over and over again "OBEY".

howdy sir simms50! another great lesson sir. It takes action is such a good way to say it and so true. I guess you could say that talk is cheap!

Very well put...TALK IS CHEAP!!!!
