Dear reader - Steem has been renamed to Hive since May 2020. My content therefore has moved with me to Hive, and I hope to see you there: peakd.com/@soyrosa.

Sort:

You can always go by the fancy name of "Multipotentialite" ;)

:') Looks fancy enough for a business card for sure!

I keep struggling to always spell it right, though ;)

Once printed on a card we'll never have to check the spelling again :')

Are you bringing business cards to SteemFest? #melikes

Yes, I want to, although I wanted to make something more than a simple business card and probably won't have time left to do that :') Al my multiple potential thingies have kept me busy the past few weeks :D

My granddad once said to me "You'll never get anywhere lad if you keep being jack of all trades" lol, he wasn't so much a fount of wisdom as a fountain of condemnation.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being good at loads of things @soyrosa... also even if you don't define yourself as a photographer your photography is of a professional level.

I get where you're coming from though. I write a tone of different genres and sometimes worry about perceived identity on steemit through my content.

Great freewrite btw's, a proper stream of consciousness flow of thoughts :-)

Lol, your grandfather sounds like he had some ideas of what you needed to spend your time on :D

I don't think it's 'bad' to be 'good' at loads of things, but, on a platform like this where most people take on a job and we're not always able to show our faces, only what we post and have to show I feel it's important to be visible in one role, to be known as the one to chat to when you want to achieve [insert expertise].

Maybe it just takes me more time than it seems to take others to find that niche :D

I think being a jack of all trades is only a good thing, so let that be your label if you need one! I hate feeling the pressure of limiting oneself to just one specialty, when most probably have a lot of different interests that keep changing.

It can be a good thing in life, indeed, but on Steem I'm struggling with it, again, even though I've sort of let go of that struggle 'IRL'. You're clearly a photographer here on Steem, even with a clear niche of self-portraits, and that makes it sort of 'easy' for people to understand what they can expect from you and if they are a fan of one post, they are probably a fan of the next as well. If you look at my account now and my account half a year ago... I was only posting nature/travel photography. All the followers I collected back than don't comment on my posts now :D Sometimes I want to start over and give myself a proper brand ;-)

I've never actually considered myself as being a photographer, I don't feel like I am, nor am I a model. Those are things I do and pictures are the driving force, but I am not sure what I am. I also write about random stuff, my life, rant about some aspects of our society, so I don't think I fit into any box, at least not a small one :D

Lol, and here I’m thinking you have a niche, but I see what you mean. Thanks for that, shows me again (a lesson I’ve tried to learn for years now) how you can’t ever judge how/what others are let alone compare to yourself :’)

Tries to find HUGE boxes for Eve and Rosa to NOT fit in

But hey, it's nice to know that it looks like I know what I am doing 😂😝

I bought a Fatboy beanbag a while ago, the box was literally so big that you could have wheeled in it, and there would still be room for me too!

I LIKE THAT BOX!

I accidently came across this article yesterday and thought it would be something that might interest you!

That's pretty cool! Both the content and you thinking of dropping the link here! :D Thanks! <3

Throughout my life I've always felt I'm too much of a 'Jack of all Trades' - never specialising in anything, always being somewhat skilled at a lot of things, and therefore never able to say 'I am this, I do that' because there's always someone more skilled. I am really bad at selling myself, and part of that comes from not really having one niche I feel most at home. ...

OMG THATS ME TOO ok without anything womanly wrong that is .... I am a JACK too. And I met you as a really great lady and I had a great time talking, time flew by really fast so I want to tell you, dear you are A GEM OF A TRADING JACK and I am so looking forward to the freewrite coming from that tiny corner on steemfest
Big hug 😘

Hahahaha - That's an amazing comment @brittandjosie! Thanks <3 It's fun to be a JACK too, just in this day and age we all need a 'personal brand', I have to figure out how to brand being a 'JACK' lol! Big hugs in return my lady!

Going to think about Jack some more 🧐....

it's like i wrote that. photography is maybe something that i sticked the most (beside my "real job" :) ), but i know a bit of programing, i did some 3d animations (in the time when it was not smart to do it, on a home made PC with 256MB of ram :D ), know a bit about computer hardware, have 10 year old knowledge of antivirus stuff, a bit of video filming and editing...

Me too @bil.prag! Photography is the one thing that 'sticks', all the other things I leave within 18 months on average - really problematic with jobs in the past too, I get bored and want to move on.

LOL! You know a lot of stuff too :D Maybe it's a talent after all :-)

it is an advantage maybe, as knowing basic of something can help. we will call it talent as it has a nicer tone :D

Oh, I can't wait for your epic After-Steemfest-Post with loads of piggyback selfies or with new friends chilling on the floor! It will be such a great before and after to read!!! ;)

Hahaha! Yes it will :D

Ma'am!? Sorry ma'am, I just found your label, you dropped it on the floor!

Don't bother being a multitalent, just loving the diversity of your posts. Don't stop being you! 🤙

Hehehe - THANKS @guchtere! Appreciate it :D I wasn't planning to stop, just thinking about how to 'brand' or 'sell' myself, but maybe I'll just wear that awesome I am me label from now on ;-)

Good to read you won't stop being yourself! Even a multitalent can sell itself I'm sure you'll find a way.
At my work I'm also the guy without a specific skill, and they find it always hard to place me at a customer. Because I'm not such a master at a specific thing, but every customer I end up they're always happy with my diversity.

I think you can be pretty secure under the label of thoughtful and caring person who is always willing to engage and help others. A kind hearted soul who is full of humour and absolutely loves CHEESE!!! I know you’re going to have such a great time. I wish I was going!

<3 That's a pretty awesome label actually, I will think about wearing that one proudly indeed <3 Thanks for your comment dear @broncofan99, we'll figure out a way to meet up somewhere on the globe!

Lol, I completely recognise your point. Also, life is waaaay too big and multidimensional to call yourself 1 thing. Words we use to describe ourselves shouldn't be so much about what we do, but how we do it maybe? You could call yourself a kunstenaar/ondernemer, words which speak of your imagination, creativity, brilliant ideas and strategic skills to bring ideas to reality, but leave enough space for all the projects you love working on. Or any other words. They're only words, just use something that makes you feel good :) :) :)

Hahaha, true, life is toooo big to call yourself one thing, and kunstenaar is actually the one thing I believe I can put in a lot of my skills. But I'm also a really awesome team leader, observer, and I'd love to have a 'label' for that too someday. Well, I'm a work in progress, as everyone is :D

Blockbrothers Will attend steemfest too.

Which is soooo great! :D
