My Strategy for Steemit

I am not interested in a get-rich-quick-scheme and I will be okay if I don't get rich on Steemit but I want to be an active member of this community, and I want to do it in a way that adds to the health & wealth of my family. So in order to do that, I developed a strategy...

I ONLY FOLLOW PEOPLE I LIKE:

  • STEP 1) I take this a little bit to the extreme but I don't think it's an unhealthy case of being extreme. I only follow people I like. If I follow someone and they post something I don't like there is a good chance I will unfollow them. I might make an exception if 1 or 2 of their posts are off but if they start consistently posting or resteeming posts that I am not interested in, I will definitely unfollow them. This keeps my feed clean so that I can enjoy reading, commenting and upvoting the people I like.

I SUPPORT THE PEOPLE I LIKE:

  • STEP 2) Some people might focus solely on creating content but I am more interested in building friendships. I have created content consistently before (YouTube) but it lacked the social interaction and friendship that I desire. This time I am producing content but I spend more of my time finding and maintaining friendships (i.e. upvoting, commenting and reading). It helps me find friends on Steemit and makes the workload managable since it's easier to upvote, comment and read sometimes instead of writing non-stop without breaks.

I DEDICATE TIME FOR WRITING EVERYDAY:

  • STEP 3) I actually learned this from @kenmelendez He publishes a new post almost everyday on Steemit and advised his followers to do the same. I also know from experience that consistency is key to becoming successful online, but I also want to avoid becoming entirely centered around success. So instead of making sure I publish a new post everyday, I just commit 20 to 30 minutes (at least) everyday towards writing and content production. It's an amount of time that I am comfortable with and it won't harm my health, or get in the way of me spending time with my family. If I cannot finish a blog post in that time and my duties as a husband and father require my attention, I turn the laptop off and get back to my daily responsibilities. Balance is crucial since I want to become successful on Steemit but I don't want to pay for it with my health, or the health of my marriage and family. This will keep my work on Steemit sustainable in the long-run and it will add to the health & wealth of my wife @emaferice, son @zaclucasrice and family.

Here are some of the people I like, support & follow on Steemit: @ayerz @mhm-philippines @ronafe @razu788 @helenoftroy @dizzyjay @eoj @alienbutt @brian.rrr @kanoe and @shivaay

That's all for now but I hope you enjoyed reading my strategy for Steemit. Feel free to share your own techniques and give me feedback in the comment section of this post!

Thank you 😊

To live a long & healthy life w/my wife, son and loved ones, and to help others do the same.

I really like your strategy @chrisrice, since I am new to Steemit, my strategy is to adopt whatever suggestions you made. This will surely help me in understanding the Steemit community as a whole. Thanks a lot for the help, and I am sure, someday we can help the Filipino community get involved seriously with this project.

Thanks so much for the mention @chrisrice! I'll have to check out the other people you follow :) It's nice to meet other family-focused Steemians. I also want to adopt your strategy of only following people you like. At the beginning, I wanted to follow anyone who seemed to know what they were doing here. But as Steemit grows, I'm finding it hard to keep up with my feed. Once I have a little more time, I plan on rethinking my own strategy here and working on my follows...

Yeah @helenoftroy I think following people you like is an important aspect of Steeming. Otherwise your feed will become useless and flooded with posts you are not interested in.

There are some curators like @surpassinggoogle who I follow manually. I like their personal posts but do not want to read all of the posts they resteem. So I just visit their profiles from time to time to read and upvote their posts.

As a sidenote, you might be interested in @surpassinggoogle's ulog initiative. He has a website he is building and upvotes people that participate in his program.

I heard about the ulog initiative when it first got started, but I haven't gone back to research it recently. Hopefully, when Matt gets back I'll have a little more time to read about it and figure out my plan on Steemit.

Have you heard of Steemify? It's an app that sends you customized notifications. You add your account (without having to login) and then add who you want to get notifications from and what type - when they post, when someone mentions them, etc. That way, I only get notifications about people I'm really interested in! (I think it must have updated when the girls were sick because I stopped getting notifications but was too busy/tired to notice. I've got it up and running again though!)

Ah okay @helenoftroy No.. I haven't heard of Steemify yet but I have heard of SteemAuto. I have thought about using SteemAuto to support the people I follow but haven't gotten around to it yet. I also might not need it yet since I still have enough time to like most of the posts I follow. I will think about Steemify too!

Nice post @chrisrice. I'm pretty sure that strategy is effective. If you're looking out for friendship add me in your list! Let's support each other till the end of the world.lol..hehe😊😁

Yeah @ayerz That's very good!

I like following people who are family oriented. @helenoftroy is another person I follow. She has baby twins with her husband @ironmanmatt We can eventually have a nice group of family oriented Steemiens :)

@chrisrice and @ayerz I think that is a brilliant idea - a core of like minded people!

It will keep our experience on Steemit enjoyable since we will be reading posts in our feed that we genuinely enjoy and can relate to @mirriek @ayerz

Thats great. I'm also following both of them now. As well as the other steemians you mention. 😊😁

I'd checked their posts before I followed them and seems they're doing good. Im sure I'll also enjoy reading their posts.😊

I have been insanely busy over the last week or so and not been on steemit as much as I would like - I have still been reading your posts and love hearing updates about your gorgeous family.
Your 3 steemit steps are perfect, and I think the comments on this post show how successful you have been in building a circle of people.
Congratulations on all you have already achieved and I look forward to reading your future posts.

Thanks so much @mirriek Yes, I have been looking in my feed for your posts but I assumed you've been busy as a parent. I'm wishing you the best from the Philippines and looking forward to your next update.

Thanks so much! 😊

I am so glad as well, to call you my friend here on Steemit. I have faith in you @chrisrice you will go far and beyond you can imagine. I do agree with you though family comes first , that God has entrusted in us. But putting God first above all is the best success we can achieved in LIFE. Keep Steeming my friend!!! God bless you and your lovely family❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Thanks so much @ronafe I'm happy to call you, @mhm-Philippines and @kenmelendez my friends too 😊

You are One of few guys on steemit who actually understands what steemit really is. It not aout making money and posting content it all about making connection with new people which have mentality like you and sharing your views, knowledge and stories with him.
I know there are peope who are earnings and getting rich from there great talent and huge investment of steemit. There are other trickster too who get rich by there fraud tricks on steemit.
But we are normal people which have family to see. so we do whatever our mind feel comfortable and calm with.
For me steemit is exclusive social media platform. I know it will not bring bread and balance in my life. I just want be a part to this new tech. I am not think to bluid a career through it.

Great post @chrisrice
