@steemcleaners - What Gives You the Right to Decide What is Legitimate on Steemit?steemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit6 years ago

While it may not be a scam in your opinion, it could be considered spam. Spam is not appreciated by the community and could be flagged or may result in action from the cheetah bot..

But since its a scam/spam in YOUR opinion that makes it so?

What majority ruling class here on Steemit gave @steemcleaners the ultimate authority to determine what the community does/does not want to see?

Some things that can be considered spam:

  • Banner ads of any kind
  • Referral links/codes
  • Repeating the same post
  • Links to known scams, phishing sites, and other dangerous links

Banner ads & Referral links/codes?

Granted, it makes complete sense to judge these as spam IF someone is actually spamming these links... Simply including a referral link or advertising banner SHOULD-NOT be automatically determined as spam.

Steemit is a great resource for promotional articles and providing information

Including banner ads and referral links is totally fine on EVERY OTHER networking site...

What makes Steemit different?

Reason:

Certain users here on Steemit believe they have the rights to create "LAW" and determine what is acceptable based on there Steem Power holdings.

Apparently SELLING votes is Totally OK!

(Most likely because these "LAW" creators have a hand in the profits being generated)

But posting your referral link to get an extra kickback for promoting a project is NOT OK?

Making a sarcastic review about the current ICO situation is NOT OK?

DISCLAIMER: I personally have never been targeted by @steemcleaners but I have witnessed enough people getting massive flags due to controversial judgments from this bot.

This Steemit user made a lengthy post expressing his distaste with the current ICO situation using sarcasm and counter-logic to get his point across.
I read his posting and thought it was not only funny, but made some solid points.

  • Then @steemcleaners comes and drops a big bomb with there hypocritical comment that breaks it's own rules:

Some things that can be considered spam:

  • Repeating the same post

This user has since changed the post that was flagged to death into a blank posting with the title:
"Steemcleaners are Nazis"

It's sickening to witness this over and over again.

Most of these users don't even make $1 on a post and will typically quit once @steemcleaners comes and destroys there article.
Realistically, what the point in staying when the rich can sell votes and also judge users postings...

"Decentralized.... Censorship Free... Open Community"

Those are only just words with NO substance.

Youtube, twitter, facebook.... do less censoring than Steemit.

It's a sad reality that most likely resonates with the current price of Steem.

People are sick of the smoke and mirrors that is created to enrich the already wealthy users here on Steemit.

At least I know I am.

@steemcleaners - Stick to Plagiarism

Please take your Bot with "Entitled" judgments away from Steemit

You are causing more Harm to legitimate users than good for the overall platform when you make judgments!

You literally suck at everything else and your concept of SPAM/SCAM is completely garbage

That is all...

I've always found the community relationship to Steemcleaners quite interesting. As you are aware we have many Libertarian types on SteemIt. In my mind until the recent delegation by SteemIt, Inc., I felt it was an interesting experiment in a volunteer service paid for by those who are grateful for the service. (upvotes)

I supported them back when they focused on plagiarism and spam. (One picture posts with no text) They took care of that stuff so that I didn’t have to worry about it.

They lost me when they focused on flagging anyone talking about Bitconnect. So, did the witnesses that were promoting “saving us from the bad guys”. I tried to bring up my concerns during a meeting on SteemSpeak, but obviously I am not very influential here.

Now with the SteemIt Inc Delegation, I just ignore the whole thing.

Dont get me wrong, the 1 image, 1 line postings are spam.
@steemcleaners is great for that! Much appreciation is given and a delegation is warranted to curb the abuse. I wont argue against that.
Judging posts based on content is the problem. This last one pissed me off because it was completely rediculous.
The user even made it clear he wasnt serious and was basically riping on ICOs.

I have had cheetah spam my posts a couple of times with the link to the quote i wrote about yet i have the exact same link in the post giving credit to the original author. What's the point of requoting it?
I feel that if someone sees the cheetah comment they think you copied and pasted everything which isn't true so maybe people don't even vote once they see cheetah

They are against lending platforms but I'm wondering why. People made 340x return on Bitconnect and how much Steem lost 80%?

What is the link to the post that was flagged?

Post is gone now.
After it got flagged he deleted the contents and replaced it with something more flagworthy.

It would be on the blockchain though. :)

Yeah, I just wanted to see the comments and look at the original post.

Like I said... It's much more flagworthy now.
I feel bad giving out the link, hopefully he doesn't get upset.
But the original post was pretty interesting and made me laugh a few times.

I tried raising this issue as well a while ago when I discovered what was going on. A lot of actual spam is caught but an almost equal number of innocent people were targeted as well when I looked into the history. I had hoped they had changed but apparently they still haven't. What bothers me most is that the majority of votes they get from their steemcleaners reports is in support of the goal of fighting spam, but most people upvoting don't actually realize what else is happening too.

The irony is that posting about free cryptocurrency signups will get you a steemcleaners-visit, but Steemit itself offers a free crypto sign-up as well...

@generation.easy I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU! WE DO NOT NEED @steemcleaners's ENTITLED JUDGEMENT!

I have resteemed to spread my disgust for this bot.
