An All in One Post

My goodness it has been a weekend!

Hello friends!

So it all sort of started Thursday. I live near Seattle. Seattle gets rain, but snow is generally rare. We might get an inch or two each winter. It lasts a day. Everyone stays home and when it melts we go about our business.
Because snow is rare, people don’t put snow tires on their cars in winter. Most people don’t own chains. Cities only have a few snow plows. Add this to a very hilly landscape and drivers inexperienced with snow driving.... well, it only takes a couple inches to shut down the city.
A few days ago a local weather celebrity, Cliff Mass predicted a BIG snow event was headed our way. Cliff isn’t a TV weather man. He is a well respected professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington. His forecasts are often spot on. So when Cliff started saying expected snow accumulations would range from 6 inches to over a foot....

Seattlites started FREAKING out!

The “Market Friday” Bit

I left the office early on Thursday and finished my work day in the home cube. Around 6pm I popped down to the store to pick up supplies ahead of the snow. Apparently EVERYONE had the same idea!

Lines of people at the grocery store like a hurricane coming for Christmas.

ALL THE FOOD WAS GONE!!!

Dammit! No toasted sandwiches for me!

The potato and onion rush of 2019

I am not really sure why people bought all the water. Just melt the snow!

It was fairly unnerving seeing the store shelves bare. All over the city friends were sharing similar photos. It’s like people were preparing for weeks of being house bound.

The important stuff

👆🏻I got the supplies I needed then went home to wait for the snow.

IT ARRIVED!!!

This is NOT photoshopped.

Things got serious quickly.

By Friday evening we had about 6 inches of snow. The city was closed. On Saturday people were skiing and snowshoeing on our street and kids were building snowmen and sledding.

We Marie Kondo’d our basement and built IKEA furniture. 😂🤣

OMG, moving or cleaning?

IKEA construction success!

OK, let’s see this snow.

The “Wednesday Walk” Bit.

Dog snow. (He is SUPER displeased.)

Sunday brought more snow!

The “Sublime Sunday” Bit

Today started clear, but the threat of more snowed loomed. In preparation, I walked to the grocery store for a few more supplies. Then I quickly shoveled a path from our house to the garbage and recycle bins (with all of Saturday’s cleaning some items needed to be taken out). About an hour after I finished the snow returned. We’ve probably gained another 4 inches since late this afternoon.

Snow is meant to continue through the night.

Calling tomorrow a SNOW DAY!!!

The Steem Silver Gold Bit

To top off the fun filled weekend, today I purchased a gorgeous piece of silver. @raybrockman was selling pieces from his personal collection. I snagged a 3oz star created by @pit-bullion. I can’t wait to get this baby home. ☺️

All in all, a lovely and productive weekend!

OMG!!! You outdid yourself!!! And so did your weather!! I have been away in the Caribbean, so I didn't know it snowed there! That is totally unheard of, isn't it?

Washington, DC had 24 inches of snow a couple of years back (unheard of!! We hardly get any snow!) and the shelves looked exactly like that! I was amazed that people acted as they would never eat again! LOL

I am always prepared with my own frozen concoctions, however, the snow melted in about two and a half days. LOL They we had too much water.

Just cannot win. I hope you have dug out by now and thank you for posting in the #MarketFriday tag! I loved it and you did it ever so awesomely! So thank you!!! For the time, effort and patience to put it all together.

Wow that's some crazy weather, i rather our storms. The store look like that here when a hurricane is coming.

It did look like hurricane prepping. Lol so dumb! I walked to the store two days later in the snow and all the food was back though, so YAY! And working from home in my pajamas all day has been a delight!

hahaha that's hilarious. It happened in Portland, too. And you know what's funny? Portland ran out of KALE!!!

Keep Portland weird hahaha.

Ahhhhh!!!!! I saw the kale thing!! Oh Portland. 😂☺️

One of Seattle’s more rich soccer mom neighborhoods had a kale shortage too. My hood just onions and potatoes.... add some rocks and we’ll have soup for days! 😂🤣🤣

It's been an adventure... and it's not over yet! I've watched kids sledding through the alley behind our place, cross country skiers down the middle of roads and snowmen with odd features like celery for noses... likely because the carrots were all sold out at the grocery store!

😂🤣 I am totally home cubing today. Hoping that the next round comes in as snow too!

Yep total rampage. Its snowing here now, suppose to get 6-10" then an ice storm tomorrow. Yeah...... Not.

Nice Pit star, wish I was around i wouldve grabbed it.

Ice storm! I have only seen an ice storm once. That it is super uncommon here. Stay safe over there. I know your job doesn’t have the luxury of just calling in.

Wow, what an event for your area! Love the night-time shot looking out your door! 😊
And an awesome 3-ounce star! Whoo hooo!

Whoo hoo! Ray’s coin shop is always a good time.

The weather forecaster are saying another major snow storm is headed in. The skies look very ominous this morning. Maybe today is the day to build a snowman. ☺️

What no pile of "extra" pieces from IKEA build?!?! Haha!

Large amounts of snow are no joke. Stay safe and warm @dfinney.

Summer took what I was gonna say! He’s right though! Our pile could be a whole other unit! 😂🤣

I howled when you showed all the sold-out water!
Now thaz some funny stuff! 🤣🤣🤣 Westcoast folks freak the fo when we get a little snow on the ground.

Maybe they thought the snow would cause an earthquake? 😂🤣🤣 Seriously though... even if the power went out there would STILL BE WATER. And of course snow IS water.

People are too much. 😄

Howdy from Texas dfinney! Wow you guys really got it this time..and it made such a fun and interesting post, great job!

Howdy to you! I am suspecting no snow in Texas? ☺️ Thank you for popping past and for your kind comment.

howdy again dfinney! Well in Texas it is about as rare as can be and I haven't seen a single snowflake for years. If it did snow it would be very light and not last a day I'm sure. I didn't know it was so rare near Seatle but it's nice not to have to fool with it all winter, it probably mostly has alot of rainy weather in the winter time right? Hopefully not much ice?
That poor little dog looked like he or she was too short legged to get through it easily!

The little dog’s legs are way to short for the snow. That photo was under a tree so the snow wasn’t too deep, but the poor fellow had snow up to his face in other spots. It is tough being a dachshund. ☺️

We have only had an ice storm here once in my memory. Usually the winter is just one drizzling day after another with a few days of blue skies tossed in for fun. ☺️

oh the poor guy! lol...well it's good exercise and it doesn't happen often. I like your take on the weather.."a few days of blue skies tossed in for fun" lol. Have you lived there a long time?

I moved away for about 9 years, but grew up here and returned in 2007. I am super local. 😄

super local! lol. that's a cool way of putting it. Where did you move to and why did you want to come back?

Traveled a lot for work. Via my travels met an Australian. Married him. Moved to Australia. Convinced him eventually to come here. It just ended up being easiest to establish roots in a place I had already grown. ☺️
