Punch You in da MOWF!

Really though, some people just talk to hear themselves I think. Oh well, moving on. I got this sweet piece of family silver from pops when he come over on the evac route thanks to Florence. Pretty thick eh? That is an actual Buffalo Head nickel with gold inlays on a sterling set with turquoise accents. I thought it was pretty badass that pops gave it to me since I've been a black sheep for the past 15 years. Maybe respect has finally been earned, idk. I dig it tho.

Jewelry in General

Honestly, I just don't wear much. I used to have my ear pierced, tongue pierced, had some sweet ass chains, tons of rings - like every finger - but, the more I studied certain arts, the less I wore. I got to training more and wore them less and eventually just never put anything back on. Is that odd for anyone?

Sentiment

Regardless what his reasons were for handing it down to me, it is appreciated and the sentiment is felt on multiple levels. He's the kind of fella that has like 30 tattoos, half of them he did himself. Who knows how many rings and chains he has. Just the fact that he would part with one I ogled for years is really cool. If you happen to read this, thanks pops. Love you. #1

Ha! Look at those flowing locks!

Wow! That's a super sweet piece with some serious sentiment behind it. Love that your dad chose to give it to you.

As for wearing jewelry, I have tons, wear none. I made necklaces for a while and have loads of them, plus quite a few rings. Used to wear them, but now my body is happier without. Sometimes wearing a necklace for a few hours can give me a subtle headache. I wear a ring for a while, and my finger starts to protest. So now I just take the pretties out and look at them every so often. One of these days I'll bring out a few for a SSG post. ;)

Me too, made me kinda fuzzy. I feel you on the rings and jewelry, loud and clear. Believe it or not, could only wear it for about 3 minutes before my finger was like, ok, being restricted.

Wow thats cool😎

I thought so too, pops don't usually come off with stuff like that.

Very unique, I love it! Tough pic of you too! :)

Ha ha thank you sweetness :)

This is awesome! I've always had a thing for buffalo head nickels, and for Indian head pennies, and this is a really nice piece.

Lovely gesture from your dad, regardless of the impulse, and I'm inclined to agree that respect has been earned, which I find entirely unsurprising knowing you. Way cool when family comes back in sync. ;-)

As for jewelry, I grew up with my mom's Southwest Native jewelry, mostly Navajo and Zuni, and I've always loved it, but don't wear it near as much as I used to, and then only for short periods. But then some of the pieces are seriously heavy, especially some of the earrings.

Like our princess, I used to make a lot of jewelry, mostly sterling wire-wrapped natural stones, including a lot of semiprecious stones, and the earrings I wear most of the time are representative.

But these days, outside of special occasions, I mostly choose jewelry that gives me energy on a subtle level. Because it's true, a lot of jewelry can drain our energy, especially if it interferes with our own.

Not to mention that I far prefer earrings that are lightweight, lol!
