Eversince I've gotten past the bandwidth issue, I keep getting really low voting power (VP) from all the upvoting I do. Today I saw with my own two eyes that my $0.02 upvote on a post will not earn anyone anything. Not just comments, even posts upvoted with worth $0.02 have no value now.

I upvoted that on it's 6th day with my upvote value of $0.02. And then today when I was checking my posts I noticed this one that I resteemed is suddenly $0.00 upon pay out. Hahaha omg, I'm not an expert on Steemit so my guess is they already implemented the dust upvote shenanigan or it's already existing since before it became an issue. Or maybe it's got something to do with the Steem value going down. I'm clueless so maybe someone who's an expert on this can let me know. Or another option yet would probably be because the post was set to 100% SP and not 50-50? I have no idea really.

And because I like to vote around to show my appreciation but mere red fishes/minnows don't really have a say on how to run this platform, I will not be upvoting posts I find interesting anymore unless I can't help it or it has more than 0 value. Most likely I will just be posting a curation post where I will put all the quality and interesting posts I find, much like what the #newbieresteemday people are doing. This will save me my voting power and also will help promote other people's quality posts.

Who knew I'd be eventually doing this too. So anyway I'll just be commenting around because my upvote is dust. Sad really to have an upvote function that has no value at all.

Why don't they remove the upvote function for newbies instead if our upvotes are not worth anything?

How can we help increase anyone's reputation then? Perhaps only the ones with bigger upvotes count these days?

You know what this dust vote issue will probably do? Those who are aware of it will not even upvote on a newbie's quality post they like. What if all red fishes/minnows do not upvote on a post with zero value because their upvote value is dust, will any Steemit post earn anything? Not all posts will be seen by a lot of people so I'm thinking more posts will get zero upvotes and so more new people will leave Steemit. I dunno but that's just the negative side of it. Hopefully more people who have vote value will upvote more zero valued but quality posts if this is how it's gonna be.

Please enlighten us. @ned @timcliff Or whoever can clear this up. Thank you.
