Ulog 10: Ulog Doodle Contest Entry
Yay – Ulog 10 – in which I present my doodle for @phantum04’s awesome Ulog Doodle Contest
This contest was so much fun! I abandoned any idea of doing housework after work last night, and enjoyed playing instead. I decided to create the word Ulog using cute Kawaii characters. I did loads of research on the web, having not drawn these little guys before, and got loads of inspiration from various Kawaii artists around the world. Apparently Kawaii literally means ‘Cute’ in Japanese.
I thought I’d video the ‘making of’ for you, just in case anyone fancies seeing my process.
I used a .5mm Micron marker, a Faber-Castell brush pen, and for the colour, a bunch of random brush pens. Honestly- I would LOVE to buy a set of Copic markers for my illustration work, as they’d have made a much classier job of adding the colour- but phew, they’re expensive. Maybe that can be something I save up my Steemit rewards for as time goes by!
I hope you like my entry – I wanted to create the word Ulog and literally fill it with happiness!

Ah - thank you so much - I really appreciate it. I didn't win- but wow- you should have seen some of the other entries- the winners were amazing and just so talented. Before I even looked at the video, I admit jealousy....you mentioned Copic markers. Someday I will own some. I'll have to stick with my gel pens and Sharpies for now LOL or actually get off my toosh and paint. I admit I am completely partial to watching or seeing an artist's process. Sometimes I think I get more fascinated by that than the art. Don't get me wrong you sketch is really fun :)

I have to admit, I'm the same as you. I lust after copics - my brush pens are just cheapies that I inherited from my mum... useful for when I can't be bothered to crack open the paints... but one day I'll have those copics in my life!!

Yes- they are insane money... so much so, I kind of want to "try-before-I-buy" if you know what I mean?! I'd hate to get them and not like them!!

My 12 year old wants them too. She used them at a friends house and asked for them. I thought no big deal and jumped on Amazon to realize it was a big freakin deal....lol. So it's on her xmas list and sure one of the Grandparents will be nice enough to buy her some, but not something I plan on buying her anytime soon. I am sure they are great, but are they worth 4x the price of other really good markers...maybe if your a professional. Not sure how it can make enough of a difference for someone that only draws for fun to justify the extra cost. For sure not enough for me to justify buying them for my kids to use.
I completely understand you on that- and I really think they are at professional kit level... I think the issue is that there are a lot of YouTube artists are featuring them, so kids who enjoy watching artists on there are all desperate for them!
