Why Has Steemit Toughened Up On Her Babies?

About a week ago, we saw the HF20 update on steemit. I just came online as usual with a good post i have prepared. I logged into my account and saw the red banner on top. I have even forgotten what it was saying. Well, i didn't even bother reading further, instead i went ahead to submit my post but i couldn't. I tried a few more times but couldn't.

When i realized that the situation is serious is when i kept trying for about 3 more days but couldn't. So i was prompted to click the "read more" where i understood what was going on a little bit. Up till now, even though the red banner have turned blue, and saying its now stable, yet i still find it difficult to post.

My question now is...why has steemit toughened up on its babies? By babies, i mean the planktons and minnows on steemit. Not just minnows because i am still a minnow but what about people that just joined a month ago? The newbies?
How will they cope with all this going on now?

Even me that has been on steemit for about 6 month and have almost repaid the steem power delegated to me, yet i can hardly make a single post a day, not to talk of making comments, upvotes or even reply my own comments, because my RC and SP is low, what about people that still using the 15Sp delegated to them? Steemit is just frustrating now.

I really dont understand how the platform is engineered and why they did what they did. But i know they have a very good reason for the update given all the proffessional working behind the scene. I even noticed that SP has also become stronger and upvotes keeps increasing but all this at the cost of we minnows.

The worst part is that the whales and dolphin and other with high SP are free to post, upvote, comment while we are just watching. Its not fair. I just come online and i dont even know what to do when i can't post, upvote, comment or do anything. The whales are supposed to be the ones put on hold while the minnows have a chance to grow.

Seriously its frustrating cause as far as i know, parents protect their babies and even starve for them, but thats not what am seeing here. This is just a case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Its not supposed to be that way. Okay his particular post, i have had it in my draft since yesterday morning, but couldn't post it till now. Its just frustrating. And if i cant take it any more, i will just take a break till this issue is resolved.

Imagine if i wait for about two days and luckly i was able to make a post and see some mistakes on the post i have made, i can't evej quickly react to it and correct my mistake, instead i have to wait for two days for my RC to charge up before i can make a post. I can't even engage with my followers and reply their comments on my post because my RC and SP is low. Is it my fault that my SP is low? Is it my fault i am not a whale?

I wonder why everyone is acting cool with this and no one is talking about it. The only people i have seen concerned with how HF20 update has affected people are @dobartim and @crypto.piotr. It even says on top that the HF20 update is stable when all this is going on. I wonder if this is permanent, but if it is, it will surely be almost impossible for newbies and minnows to cope.

Hi @paramimd, I'm @checky ! While checking the mentions made in this post I noticed that @dorbartim and @crpto.piotr don't exist on Steem. Did you mean to write @dobartim and @crypto.piotr ?

Hi @paramimd

Thank you for sharing this link with me. We're clearly on the same page.

That's the source of current problem. HF20 targeted bots very efficiently but new users may experience huge difficulties too, which in result will force them to abandon Steemit :(

Hope you will not give up on this platform my friend

Hello there @paramimd 😉 I can feel you. You are plankton 3 like me, not minnow yet. Because you can consider yourself as minnow if you have 500 Steem Power. There's so many talks about the effect of HF20 for the newbies that you've missed. Wait up for a few days, everyone also face the same problems after the HF20 and be patience.

No, you don't have to worry about you can't do anything with it later, all you have to do is keep create your post and save it in the draft and post it later when you have reach your full RC. Meantime... power up to be able to out of that free delegation situation and If you have some SBD or Steem in your account, try to lease some SP from blocktrade, you need it. Or .. go to discord and learn from others about how to cope with it.

I saw many newbies also face the same problems and you have to accept that the fact is steemit is also a business, not a free lunch for everyone. There're many innitiatives out there to help the newbies. Someone has been 100 days here on steemit and she could finally reach something that I need 10 months to achieved. How can she do that? She use many possible way to grow.. even if she only can post 1 for a week or comments only 2 a day. Go.. try steemhunt😊 don't give up!

Good writing @cicisaja. There are many places that delegate SP to others who struggling with SP problem. He should find out I think.

Yes he should.. if he thinks he needs it..thanks @mmunited, we can support him.. but it is depends on him how to manage it for his own good

Steem is trying to stop the spammers. You will see a lot of comments(spamming) all over the posts. They are just spamming because it is free(to comment). They try to vanish spammers. I like this.

What about the others?
If you are are good writer and make proper engagement, people will support you. You have 15 SP and 5.339 SBD already. You can delegate SP from blocktrades. You will cost only 2 steem for 35 SP/90 days. Can not you invest this amount of steem to post and make engagement. You will make 66 comments over 5 days. I think that would be enough for you. If you want mre there are money places that giveaway SP to who has RC problems.

The newbies will also face the same problem like you may be even worse than you. Steemit is no longer free. This is reality. You need to accept it. Less comments mean you have to choose to give your comment to whom. This is about the quality.

Give quality comments to make more engagements. Make quality post to increase your earning because you need to spend your money for SP.

Good luck and steem on.

I hear you and I can feel you because I myself have gone through that. Good for you that you are a minnow. I am a plankton and still can not do my usual engagement on Steemit even after they say that the system has stabilized. I had to power up and lease delegation. My consolation to that is that I have small earnings that I used in powering up and leasing. And yes, it is frustrating. However, the new limitation was set to combat spammers. Plus, we are still talking about business. Aside from that, it is fairly new in the system that maybe people have not yet fully realized the long-term impact. Who knows they will reconsider someday.

As for the newbies with 15 SP, I have to agree that yes, they have to use that as their capital to grow. As I mentioned, we are in a business world so the 15SP is a bonus to start with. It may be slow at first but if they are determined to succeed with such capital, they will succeed. One piece of advice that I can tell newbies is to do Steemhunt. This has a significant impact on my account value. I think almost 90-95% of it came from my Steemhunt earnings. Even if a newbie can post just once per day, that will be a great start.

I came across your article through @oclinton who featured it on his post which is an entry for Pay It Forward Curation Contest. The contest is open to everyone so you are welcome to join.

Hello @paramimd, I totally understand what you are saying, but I believe that @cicisaja gives you some very good advice :) Hang in there!

I found your post because @oclinton featured you in a Pay it Forward Curation Contest Entry. Please feel free to join us next week with an entry of your own :)

There is a lot of talk about the people affected by HF20. Believe it or not, there are actually whales who are concerned. But it is worrying about how RC is making it difficult (or nearly impossible) to get started. Without newbies, no one up the ladder gets fed for very long.
I do find that now I'm a minnow (500SP), I have no RC concerns at all. But I'm guessing you need at least 100SP before you're in the clear.
Make sure that your top priority (besides making posts) is to keep powering up when you can. That's the thing that will make the most long-term difference for you.
Good luck!

I found you today thanks to @oclinton's Pay it Forward curation contest entry. Keep up the great work!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you.
There are far too few people who are trying to help.out the people in trouble.
But there are.
I'm running a delegation contest in which I wull up the SP of 10 people to 100Sp, so they can function properly again. There's only 2 days left, so you've got to hurry if you want to get in. Find the post here.
On my wall, I shared some other initiatives that qre handing out delegations, just take a look at https://steemit.com/@simplymike.

There are many that don't seem.to care, but therd are defi itely people who are willing to help. You just have to finf them. My blog would be a good start. Put your name in the comments sections of all delegation côntests, and who know your problems will be solved for a while.

You are a superstar!

This is very weird indeed, I think it's a strategy, you know "create a scarcity" and also "Gamification" you know make the next level a bit more tricky so you don't loose interest...?

And also to stop "spam" and make it easier for witnesses etc etc...

I feel sad about it because this is totally screwing the little guy, I recently ran out of "RC's" but I got som SP delegated from a dear friend...

But yeah, it's unfair, especially for people who are not fortunate enough to make an initial investment in SP's to make steemit work properly...

Keep on steemin!
