Wednesday Walk Challenge - Doghouse Craft Cafe @ Yellowwood Forest
So I will be frank from the beginning - what I'm sharing with you today for @tattoodjay's Wednesday Walk Challenge is not just 5 blocks away from my home.
No, the Doghouse Craft Cafe at Yellowwood Forest is about an hour's drive down the South Coast of KZN, so we had to do the first lap by car before we could get out our walking shoes.
We walked a short nature trail to one of the two bass dams through the beautiful Yellowwood Private Nature Reserve which is just off the Main Road outside the little seaside town of Pennington, which is becoming a favourite of ours by the way ;)
This tranquil dam is a stone's throw from the restaurant called the Doghouse Craft Cafe.
Gorgeous and tranquil it was, and we will definitely be back as our son is a keen freshwater fisherman, so will take a drive down there next time he comes for a visit.
We were starving by the time we finished our walk and headed straight for the Doghouse Craft Cafe which also is the home of Bassett Breweries who are making a name for themselves in the local craft beer industry.
We saw some real quaint crafty touches here.
This restaurant is a real gem with many different open areas as well as indoor seating, truly a little piece of paradise as the owner said - we sat under the Avocado tree that had big eyes, a huge nose and a funny big mouth and teeth as well!
There were some Avocados on the tree and I asked if we could keep one if it fell on us, the answer was yes, but unfortunately, or fortunately, that did not happen :)
A nice big juicy homemade burger with an onion marmalade was just the thing to quell the hunger pangs, accompanied by an ice cold craft beer.
This little guy kept an eye on us and made sure we did not spoil the benefits of our walk by overindulging, he certainly had his job cut out for him as they have a real tempting menu!
Had to make a run for it after that long glass of beer ;)
Promised I would show all of you the Bassett Breweries product range - besides craft beer they also produce fruit infused Gins, some with edible glitter, a real party treat and we took some back home!

First off let me say the walk doesn't have to be from your home, office or anywhere in particular, infact I do not have any rules just guidelines and if I was to make a rule it would simply have fun :)
What a cool place you visited a beautiful area and that cafe looks so cool, love the face on the tree and other cool decorations, I to had a Hamburger today but I must say yours looks better;)

Ah thank you @tattoodjay, really enjoy your tag! It's such a quaint place, a little bit of everything there - walks, fishing, small forest, food, craft beer and wonderful ambience!

Love this place @lizelle :) What are those orange flowers in your first picture? They're beautiful, I haven't seen them before. As for the face on the tree, our dentist used to have this on the tree right out the window! As we were having our dental treatment that face would be looking back at us! lol crazy crazy :) Love that burger you had for lunch, looks like you had a wonderful day. I'm sure you both needed the break!

That flower is called a Red Hot Poker, really makes a nice show. Well this funny face has some real big teeth, wonder what your dentist would say about them ;);)

That tree face got my attention! 😄 What an interesting place to visit. Those orange and yellow plants are so pretty and unique. I love the women’s sign on the restroom door, so hilarious!! I’m glad you all enjoyed your visit and had a nice walk :)

That beer looks delicious - it looks like wheat beer, which is so refreshing! There was a darker beer that flashed past in the photo montage at the end - that looked very nice too.
I'm not generally a big fan of gin, but I have to admit, some of the infused gins are very nice. I tried a Parma Violet flavoured one the other day, and the taste was divine! What a lovely café, and a small hive of industry.
It is a lovely spot for a leisurely visit! Hubby had the darker beer which is brewed with a touch of smoked malt, it's almost like a stout. My friend and I shared the Pink Apple Ale, a hybrid cross between a beer and a cider, it was a light and refreshing beer.
I enjoy a G&T, the one you mention sounds super!
