Whaleshares Platform Growth : Congratulations on 4000 Accounts!

in #whaleshares5 years ago

For any new platform the early growth and momentum is important. Especially in the social media space if you stand still you die so it is good to see that the new kid on the block – Whaleshares – is still going strong after just over 3 months. Even with a pretty horrific bear market happening in the Crypto-sphere and with other social media platforms being savaged in the marketplace the early growth in Whaleshares is definitely a bright spot. Today the Whaleshares hit another milestone with over 4000 accounts now created so Congratulations are in order!

You can see from the chart below that despite a bit of a slow start and some early volatility as the initial airdrop was playing out in late August, the growth has been pretty steady from about mid-September. There is no longer a requirement to use the Bitshares network to set up an account now that the platform is running smoothly. New accounts can be created from the Splash Page and are now being processed by the Witnesses so it’s a lot quicker and easier for new users to get going.

It’s not all beer and roses though as (along with all the other Cryptos) the WLS token has taken a hit in the recent sell-off. I’ve been picking some up at around 1.2 BTS, which puts the value of WLS at around 5.5 US cents each and that’s down a bit from what it was worth just a couple of months ago. However I believe in what this project is trying to achieve and I’ve seen enough positive signs from some of the whales and developers to be optimistic that it’s worth investing a little bit of time and money into the Whaleshares platform.

Of course I encourage everyone to do their own diligence and this is by no means financial advice. For me Whaleshares is just a community oriented platform which uses a familiar DPoS technology (based on STEEMs Hard Fork 19) that could pick up some of the growth in this Crypto / Social Media space and be a viable alternative for disgruntled Steemians who are looking for a new home. If any of my regular followers want to learn more or need help getting started on Whaleshares please feel free to hit me up on Discord.

Just submitted my request. Created just because of steem2wls cross chain posting :D

Are they all real people, or are most of them bots like on Steemit. Isn't Whaleshares another Steemit clone? How are they different?

The witnesses were trying to do some vetting to make sure new users were real people. I don't know how successful or diligent they've been but I do know there is far less "bot influence" on the platform so far.

Technically the system operates very similar to the way STEEM did before HF20, so yes it is a clone of sorts. The main difference for me is the people and culture. There are some benevolent whales, some co-operative devs and there is a strong focus on community building and engagement.

That's interesting that they have the witnesses do the approving. I rather like that. It means someone who is helping run the platform is also making sure the accounts are legitimate.

Things tend to be more cooperative when the group is smaller. It's easier to help people when you know them. Glad it's going well there!

Some users I know have suggested I join myself, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

How's the writing community there? Ever seen like writing prompts or contests?

Are there any particular topics that do well there? Or is it just like general posts of all types?

The reason I ask is because it's a bit difficult to figure out what I would post there rather than here.

A lot of users are posting on both platforms now as a way of broadening their audience and building up stake on both platforms. I know there is a writing community on Whaleshares that do run contests so they might be worth checking out.
