The Ghost on the Golf Course - Part Three

I've already mentioned how over the years Doris has become an extremely evil presence. I'd like to think she wasn't always like this, but being murdered in cold blood by your ex can change a person, you know? The ghost usually appears as a floating spectre dressed in white, but there are some other forms. If you search Youtube you can find videos of Doris in the form of a ball of light, known as an Orb. This is rather boring, and I include it only for sake of completeness.

I don't shoot video. Let's move on...

Doris not only loves to scare people, but she has also killed a few of them on her own. She's been at it for decades and I have photographic proof that she isn't slowing down any...

Before I get to the next photo, I want to tell you a story I found in a book in the Victoria Public Library. The book is not in circulation - you have to ask them to unlock the Heritage Room where they keep old public records and newspaper clippings. I'll have to recount this from memory but the story goes something like this:

Late at night, two men were driving along a lonely stretch of Beach Drive which passes through the middle of the golf course. They reached a section with few lights when they noticed a woman dressed in white waiting to cross the road. Although later he could not explain why the driver felt compelled to stop and allow the woman to cross in front of them. They watched as she walked onto the golf course and headed off in the direction of the sea.

They drove on a little further and saw an identical woman in white standing beside the road. Again they stopped and watched in silence as she crossed in front of them without a glance. They were now both feeling very uneasy, but the driver started up again and they drove on without saying a word.

A short distance down the road they again saw the same woman. This time she was staring and raised one arm, pointing directly at them. "For God's sake don't stop!" yelled the passenger. The driver stomped on the gas pedal, and at the last second the woman in white leapt in front of the car and in a flash passed directly through the vehicle, between the two men, and vanished through the back window without a trace. Later the passenger would tell his friends how the air froze and the windows frosted over so they could barely see. They drove away in terror vowing never to return.

This is not an isolated incident. One of the newspaper clippings at the library talked about a fatal car crash involving multiple vehicles which occurred in the 1970s. There was a statement issued by the Victoria Police Department which said in part "Supposed sightings of a ghost in this area have caused drivers to make very poor driving decisions."

Armed with this knowledge I returned to the course one night and waited beside the road. It wasn't long before I felt her presence. I'm now convinced she knows why I keep showing up and she has decided to show me everything, including all her vicious little tricks. The hair on the back of my neck stood on end as she floated down the sidewalk and stopped, facing the passing traffic. This was when I first learned how she can appear in two places at once... One second she was watching the cars, and then in the time it takes to press the shutter her transparent form also appeared before the onrushing headlights...
