Pirate Sunday: 3oz Vintage Silver Bar
@stokjockey says it is #piratesunday#76!!! Does that mean I have posted 76 times using his #piratesunday tag??? Oh my goodness... time sure flies when you are having fun!
I visited a local coin shop a few days ago. And so glad I did, because I found this wonderful bar.
What attracted me to this silver bar was the design on the face of the bar. But what is truly special with this bar is a pressed is it's odd weight.
A Chunky 3 oz Vintage Silver Bar
The bar depicts an Old man panning for gold, with a mule, mountains in the background and "Dist. by Foster Inc., Walla Walla, Washington."
The back of the bar: Day Mines, Inc. Art Bar, Wallace, Idaho, 1970. 3oz. silver, .999 fine.
I have a limited list of design preferences for art rounds and bars: Iconic representations of America, depictions of the American Prospector, Hearts because I believe in love, kindness, and true affections, the zodiac sign Leo and Lions, and finally... I was born the calendar year of the Fire Dragon (not a pretend one) so I love them!
Other than the fact that the design of this bar is of the American Prospector panning for gold, I am pleased to present this silver bar for #PirateSunday because I thought of @stokjockey and his #piratesunday tag when I purchased this lovely bar.

The general consensus amongst our collector community is that W. H. Foster, Inc. was in operation from roughly 1968, until their name change to Lewis & Clark Mint, Inc. in 1972. There is further evidence that suggests Hercules Picerne and Bob Naimy operated the W. H. Foster, Inc. coin shop and mail order business as early as 1964. The earliest dated production pieces are the 1966 tokens which were given to customers depending on the size of their orders and it is speculated that these tokens were possibly produced by Northwest Historical Medals, Inc. given their Walla Walla, Washington location in the Paine Building was shared with W. H. Foster at the time.
